Suzie was just so so for me.
She looked really hot, but I think it would have been better if she just shut up.
Plus, the heavy part.... sorry, she didn't have the vocal power to pull that off.
I think Mig will win... I think Jordis has the best voice by far.
P.S.- Tell me that choir didn't suck for as many singers were in it.
I was not impressed with the choir either but I think Suzie did a fantastic job!! There are very few professional singers that would dare attempt that song. Good on her. I liked it.
Did anyone record it?
I don't think we get Rock Star:INXS in Canada :(
(Even then, I've no way of recording TV broadcasts in good quality myself even if I could record directly from digital cable)
I thought she did an adequate job but I did not think her performance was great and certainly nowhere near as good as the comments she received. The band, the choir, and the brass and strings were terrific though. THey made her sound a lot better than she was. But based on just her vocal, I thought it was a little better than just okay.
I agree 100% with Ray D O'Gaga's assessment. She wasn't bad, and she wasn't great.
My wife and I were watching it and simultaneously commenting on the greatness, majesty and power of the song, especially given the great house band on the INXS show. With all those artists and instruments behind it, Bohemian Rhapsody is just incredible. But from my perspective, Suzie got the rave reviews because of the power of the song, not because of how she sang it.
On the other hand, Jordis did an outstanding job with Imagine. Her voice has remarkable clarity, and she made an otherwise musically mediocre song into something memorable. Let's face it -- Imagine is a great song because of its lyrics, not at all because of the music behind it. But Jordis did all the right things with it, transposing it to the key of G to get it into her optimal vocal range, and then adding all the right emotions and vocal interpretation.
In summary, Jordis did a fabulous job with a mediocre piece of music, and Suzie did just an OK job while accompanied by a great band doing the best and most powerful song in the history of contemporary music. It was the song and the band that made Suzie sound good last night.
in total agreement...house band ROCKS! I thought she did a pretty good job. I did think that the choir could have been a little higher in the mix. But, hey, not too bad!!!
