There is quite some studio-work on RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS see my page for full update! |
Fenderek 31.08.2005 08:41 |
Very interesting read, veeery.... Oh well- did we expect anything else from THEM? So far every single one of them was like taht- why this one being different? |
Q-Nick 31.08.2005 09:02 |
That is a sad story. Why couldn't they leave it all it, the uncut nature of the show would be far greater for the fans. |
FriedChicken 31.08.2005 10:03 |
Honestly, who cares. |
Daz85 31.08.2005 13:19 |
I'm not really worried about that. If they made the decision to do that, so be it. Almost all official live albums feature studio work anyway. |
chauncey 31.08.2005 20:32 |
We really can't be that shocked, can we?? Queen have known to be perfectionists. Plus, I'm sure Queen were advised by Hollywood Records to make some of the comments PC. It doesn't matter though, I'll still enjoy the DVD and CD!! |

It's hardly a surprise after hearing that they decided to cut out an entire song. I guess it's good planning in a business sense. They don't have to come up with anything new for Christmas 2010, when they can sell the 5th anniversary version of the Sheffield concert, complete with previously unreleased material... :I |

Thomas, thanks for the study :-) I'm a bit disappointed by all the edits but it's not THAT bad. I'm MUCH MORE disappointed that the Eminem intro is missing :-( It WAS part of the concert - so why cut it? I'm sure copyright wasn't a problem. |
Saint Jiub 01.09.2005 02:53 |
Based on many of the comments in this topic, I expected a Do Ro cut & paste horror story like Cyberbarn. |

I think that a DVD cannot really do justice to the personal experience of having been there. This is what everybody said about the Wembley concert - it's just not the same if you watch yourself or if a camera does the job for you. I watched the EPK on the official website and I think that the beginning of TYMD - the moment, when the concert actually took off - is completely ruined by showing the audience and not the stage. It's obvious that someone decided on this camera angle who was not audience because all fans agreed that this was the most spectacular moment of the whole concert. As to Eminem, I always thought he is someone who should not be connected to a Queen concert, he is a racist, sexist, homophobe and generally a very hateful character. But for the fans who were there, a very distinctive moment of the concert will be missing because the Eminem track was building up the tension in a very effective way. We should not expect that the DVD reflects our own experience, the post production makes it mass compatible. There will be a great picture quality and decent sound. We still have the bootlegs to remind us of the atmosphere, when the filmer was jumping with the other fans to TYMD :) |

Don't see much to get hot under the collar about there myself. A few seconds here, a few seconds there. Big deal ! Not exactly wholesale overdubs is it. |
AlexRocks 02.09.2005 20:26 |
Decent sound? I can't give an accurate report because I have only seen the "We Are The Champions" performance on the internect BUT I thought that it sounded so amazingly good that I had never even heard instruments sound the way they do because it sounded so good it was phenomenal! Do you think otherwise? Roger's drums blew me away! |

well put it this way, it cant be as bad as budapest 86 DVD, cut all over tha place, and seriously dubbed! so there you go, I like buda 86, but nothing can be as bad as that when it comes to cuts and dubs, (except Firenze 05 :p) |

Well yes indeed and I also heard that they replaced Danny Mirando thanks to some great CGI work for John Deacon after all |

Will we ever hear "Under Pressure" from this concert from the soundboard? |
The Real Wizard 09.09.2005 02:21 |
So then which shows do these comments come from, if they're not quoted on the "what was really played at Sheffield"??
"Please welcome ouf new friend and companion and inspiration. Ladies and Gentleman: Mr Paul Rodgers."
"Just a little more music"
"I am not gonna bore you, cause..."

This happened with Milton Keynes, so it could happen with Sheffield. |
Penis - Vagina 09.09.2005 09:29 |
Actually since Brian announces it by saying that it probably won't be on the DVD, it would have made more sense for it to be a bonus on the CD only. Edit: I was referring to Under Pressure. |

Sir GH wrote: the possibility remains that the DVD may contain certain segments not on the cdYeah I think so because I can't imagine the dvd footage starting right into Reaching Out, it's too sudden. All Queen live dvds have some kind of intro so hopefully they don't abandon that tradition now and keep the Beautiful Day remix and/or the Eminem song in front with footage of the stage being build, the group backstage before going on, or the crowd getting ready, that sort of thing... |

Yep- hope so! I also pray for them to change in the last minute the bloody "falling courtain" from Roger's point of view to the audience one... C'mon- everyone who saw (or will see) those gigs knows it's THE moment... But i can't put my head around those overdubs... Why the hell didn't they just released it as it was? It was a great gig- if anything needed overdubbing- that was the audience... I dunno... And that would be a real shame if there was no "LOOSE YOURSELF" intro on the DVD- I loved it (hated it in Brixton, couldn't wait for it by Hyde Park :) ) |
Ray D O'Gaga 13.09.2005 14:28 |
Please - there's handly anything changed at all. Tempest in a teapot. |
kohuept 15.09.2005 17:38 |
The only thing that really sticks out is Roger's drum solo intro. "I don't wanna bore you because..." has no reverb, then suddenly "I really hate drum solos!" sounds like he's in the stadium all by himself. Not a smooth blend at all. |
Penis - Vagina 15.09.2005 19:09 |
Yeah I heard a few obvious dialogue cuts when listening through headphones, and I think I've recognized at least two music edits but I'd better be sure before naming them ;) |
