Not sure if there's already been a topic on it, nor do I wanna dredge it up from the murky depths of QZ. But I just heard the song again today. And y'know what? It ain't half bad! And once I get rid of the vocals, I think I'd be able to sing it better, b/c unlike other Queen tunes, this 'un's in my vocal range. ^_^ |

I think this is sick! I think that video is sick! Their idea of a joke is lost to me and after having heard the song it makes me seriously nauseous! |
Suigi 30.08.2005 12:37 |
Yeah, the video kinda irks me a little. But keep in mind that they're Detroit hard-rockers. Not really that knowledgeable of Queen. Just take it with a grain of salt. |

I think there are 2 ways to look at this. 1) As a Queen fan and a Freddie Mercury fan, and the fact that Freddie is deceased, it could come off as in incredibly poor taste, blasphemous, etc. 2) Or knowing Freddie's incredible spot on, intentional sense (sometimes) in poor taste himself as well, such as wearing Gestapo outfits and giving Nazi salutes... ...and knowing how Freddie and Queen have and will always be known for their outrageous sense of humor, that even Brits diss Americans for NOT getting....one could say that Freddie and Queen might (I said MIGHT) find this humorous and spot on. Personally...I did feel...both. I thought it offensive, but, the same way that say ''The Family Guy'' show is, Howard Stern is, or...and I couldn't help but find it humorous. ...Freddie and Queen could be when intentionally going for shock value...let's also not forget the Jazz party, the nudie show at Madison Square Garden where Freddie rode on TOP of Darth Vader's shoulders,... ..which I remember at the time, here in the USA....offended many Star Wars fans... So...take it with a grain of salt. Even if Freddie would have been offended by this..you can be sure he would have done something even more outrageous and preposterous...to slag it off comically, which was Freddie's ever so cool way. |

Oh well you live and learn. LOL!! |

Oh well you live and learn. LOL!! I was in my teens when that song came out and I was like WTF!!!! :), it would be many years later...when I also found out about Freddie perched atop not only Darth Vader's shoulders, but the man of steel, Superman TOO! Talk about deflating..and DEFLOWERING...all the iconic heroic film and comic heroes of the USA, with immense intentional sexual overtones. Like I said...THAT is part of what made Freddie and Queen. Their outrageous, some times in poor taste sense of humor. They were the originators of the Howard Sterns or ''Family Guy's'' or ''South Parks'' of today. Since I am a fan of Queen and Freddie, at first I was ticked off at the Electric 6 video. But, when you think about it objectively, if I wasn't ''sensitive'' because I am a Queen and freddie fan, I would think it just as offensive...and just as funny...as ''Family Guy'' or ''South Park'' or Howard Stern. Might I add, that by now most of us know about Brian's friendship WITH Howard Stern. So...I say...lighten up. Freddie would have! In his immortal words.... FRIED CHICKEN! :) |

There we go. And the game is hilarious. Chibi Hendrix, Elvis, Joplin and Marleys runnin' all over the place! |

While my good friend LIZAWITHAZ (David) was totally pissed off at the video I found it utterly tongue in cheek but hey that's one one opinion...right Arlene? |

Electric 6 is totally tongue in cheek. Everybody on this board is so PISSED that America did not get the humor and was so offended by the video for Queen's IWTBF or even Body Language, but then are hypocrites not seeing the same outrageous left field off center humor of Electric Six's video, which I think Freddie just may have had a chuckle at. :-) ... Missy May wrote:Missy may, to answer your question, here in the USA, on the FOX TV Network, is an animated comedy for ADULTS called ''Family Guy'', on the Comedy Central TV Network is an animated comedy for ADULTS called ''South Park'', and Howard Stern is a nationally syndicated Radio Comedy/Talk Show host who became famous for the same thing as those 2 animated TV shows, only he is FAR worse (BUT FUNNY!), which is....very, very NON politically correct, intentionally profane, over the top shock humor. SO CONFUSED!!! But...celebrity's LOVE Howard Stern and appear both on his radio show, AND on his syndicated TV show as well. Brian....is friends with Howard, and it all sort of started in that eerily, Brian and Howard Stern look almost exactly alike (right down to the poodle perm!),and the 2 often get mistaken for the other by people on the street. Howard Stern and the 2 animated comedies above also are big fans of classic rock and especially bands like Queen and incorporate it into their shows (like The Simpsons), and.... ..likewise celebrities and especially music artists/bands are fans of all 3 and are guests on Howard Stern (Brian has been on Howard's show and you can find a very, very cool interview transcript here on QZ archives links) or they also do voices for ''South Park'' and also especially, ''The Simpsons''. |

yes but you have to realise Queen/Brian May and Roger T would of had to have some involvement on Electric six doing this cover. Any artist that has ever covered Queen has had to have some sort of involvement from Queen. most of the time saying what they could and couldnt do. So Brian and Rog must of seen the video and thought it was ok for it to be made. |

So not only would Roger..and Queen be laughing from the video...but also be laughing...all the way to THE BANK!!!! |

Now tell me...what do YOU think the copyright owners at DC comics or Marvel Comics, whichever owns the rights to all American, childhood..WHOLESOME hero model icon...Superman, must have thought, or if they thought it was offensive..or funny...or BOTH..or NOT..when they took a look AT THIS!!!!!
