Just been looking at the newly released NATO DVVD A spec... link
First of all what's with all the 'live video archive' footage nonsense for EACH track, sounds a bit GIMMICKY to me. Why not just include 'Ham 75' instead? They just can't keep things SIMPLE can they, have to do something 'different' every time !!
NO, NO, NO, I've just had them MOST HORRIBLE THOUGHT about these 'live clips'...
Please don't tell me the dreaded 'Cut & Paste Twins' (Torpedo Twins) have been let loose in the video editing studio again....GOD FORBID NOOOOOOO !!
And what's this about a 'proper 5.1 mix'?
Was the May/Shirley mix not 'proper'?
Are they going back on their centre channel omission which as the time said was the 'proper' way to listen to '5.1 music'?
AHEM:)
Who knows in a few years time they may make a 'proper' 4:3 Hits DVD, but that's another thread.
OH NO !!
I just HOPE their editing techniques have moved on from slo mo clips and matching action to lyrics ...Doubt it though, there's only so much you can do with arhcive clips which you have used time and time before :(
What do you mean no new material?!
There's going to be a whole new surround mix of God Save the Queen! And a few more seconds of genuine surround sound on The Prophet's Song!
That alone MUST be worth the price of the DVD. :P
Well this is kind of old news actually. The Play.com information has been the subject of debate for weeks now..
At least the video is going to be 4:3. Maybe You're My Best Friend will be in halfway decent quality this time.. it looks hideous on GVH1. And on the original DVD-A, Bo Rhap is taken from Greatest Flix, complete with bad dropouts and is roughly edited from that master, even with the last frame from 'Killer Queen' visible. So this will be a bit of an improvement... hopefully.
And there's always hope that these specs are wrong.. they came quite early and still haven't been confirmed officially.
Come on people, forget the DVD. What did you expect it to be anyway? Hammersmith 75 and all other shows deserve there own individual release anyway, not tacked onto something like this.
Surely we should be all getting excited about the prospect of hearing studio outtakes and demos for this era rather than worrying about the DVD content. Anyone heard any whispers about the tracklisting for the bonus CD?
Or have I completely got the wrong end of the stick. Are we getting a bonus CD at all or is it just the original album with bonus DVD....?
Question...does anyone know if and when this anniversary release will hit American stores? I see you can pre-order it on several European CD/DVD websites and the DVD is in PAL format, but will this be released in America?
Remember that this is only what play.com are speculating as being the content of the DVD - there has been NO official announcement yet of the package and what format it is to take.
It's entirely possible that play.com have made this up in the interests of getting people to place pre-orders for the product with them where someone like Amazon have NO details on the release for pre-order.
Very clever stuff from play.com but could very well backfire on them in terms of false advertising.

Play.com certainly isn't in the habit of making up extras to gear up interest... They don't even list the extras of the Enterprise season 3 -box set that is coming out in less than a week!
They have gotten the information from some credible source, and I have to say that the list of contents certainly does sound possible. :I
Speculating? No. Certainly not. Making info up to make people buy a product? Don't be a numpty. And its not only Play.com with the information from the SUPPLIER either.
"'39: New video featuring Brian's 2005 performance at Sheffield, archive 'live' footage for chorus, plus 1960's space footage"
COME ON, Look at the above!
'You couldn't make it up'....as they say :)
Unless you're one of those 'twins' !!
As far as being PAL format, that's most likely wrong information. The first two DVD-As were done in NTSC and region free on purpose, because DVD players in Europe are more likely to be able to play NTSC as well. I don't see why they would change that.
And the release was mentioned in a press release for America, I believe it was about the Queen + PR concert dates here.. so yes, it will most likely be available in North America. With the tour dates and musical here, Hollywood Records would be foolish not to release it.. though they've more than proven themselves to be fools in the past :-P
