Anyone else following this monster of a storm? If not, you'll certainly be hearing about it tomorrow. It's gonna hit New Orleans and surrounding areas very hard. It's only the 3rd hurricane this powerful (category 5) to hit the U.S. ever they say. Mandatory evacuations are in effect, thousands of people are seeking shelter at the Superdome.. let's hope it holds up.
Try to think happy thoughts, or pray for these people if you're into that kind of thing.

wow, i was in Florida last year when Hurricane Charlie hit, that was a Cat 4 hurricane, went around Orlando the day after it hit and u wud think a H-Bomb had hit, everything was flattened, nothing remained up basically, unbelievably the theme parks survived :S, it sounds weird but when u are in a hurricane its a experiance you dont forget, i actually enjoyed it lol. didnt have time to evacuate our area when they found out it changed course 3 hours before it was due to hit land! caught everyone off gaurd! the eye of it is eery! its calm, no wind, and u see everything being destroyed around u! then it picks up again...
wanna full story? buy my book :P
seriously though its a weird experiance!
I haven't really been following it on the news that much but my cousin who is in Americorp (I guess it's like the Peace Corp) will be sent there to help out with cleaning up the mess and taking care of people and everything. I hope everyone down there, especially Kayla and her family, remain safe.
I am watching in amazement that "evacuation" American style means: run for your life if you are lucky enough to own a car and know where you can go.
Old people and poor people have just bad luck. In the best case they find shelter in a stadium where the roof is disintegrating. Stranded tourists are told to stay away from the hotel windows. That's just so unbelievable.
Well it looks like it was pretty much a dud so far. Some flooding, roof damage, etc.
About the only interesting thing to come out of it was this footage of a German Shephard with a boner on CNN: link
