I've read some Brian comments that this track was finished off while he "wasn't around" and would like to have taken it further. However, he'd let it go in order for it to be finished on-time for a 46664 studio-album release.
As far as I know this album of studio tracks never came about. Anyone have any info. on this or know about it - I'd love to finally see a studio version of The Call released - I think it's a great song.
I agree...can't wait to hear the proper studio version....somewhere I read Jim Beach saying there would be a studio album out in 2006 I think.....don't want to get anyones hopes up...but I thought I read that some time ago....of course they've talked about the box set for years...
The original plan was to release the 46664 concert in Mar/April 2004, then release the studio album in June 2004. At least that's what the news reported shortly after the first concert in November 2003.
As you can see, sometime after the concert release, their plans changed. I haven't heard anything about the studio album in over a year, and with QPR going, I wonder how much time Jim Beach and Queen have spent on the project.
Hi "FriedChicken" so there was a "radio version" too? Is the studio version a kind of mastered "finished" song (and does it sound good to you??). Gee sooo many questions my bananas have gone mouldy!
the radio version i mean the version which was recorded by a fan from Capital Radio.
It was a finished version, mastered and mixed. But they re-recorded it, and thats the version I have
So is it would it be overly rude to post a "Request" fried-chicken - Preety Please?? or is blatant un-ashamed begging any good? Oh or am I doing that already?
That request wont work sorry.
And yeah, i think slower is better, don't worry. It's still a great tempo, it's just a little difference. Brian's vocals come out way better like this
"Obviously, who cares".
Not you, -obviously-. You even took the time to post here and tell everyone how much you don't care.
Jeeze.
As for "The Call", I've heard this once about two years ago. Then Brian put up some thing on his site saying how awful we were for downloading it (ok - I see no distinction between hearing it on the radio a couple of times and downloading it once, with the added factor of my having not known it was a charity song.) I didn't really listen to it again (as I found being called a 'disgusting creature' or something quite annoying. I'm sure the radio listeners enjoyed that too...) and have since lost it in a pile of backup CD's.
Good is it? :D
I do recall wishing that he'd sung more of it, rather than shouted it. Ok - the shouting suits the seriousness of the subject matter I suppose, but he's a better singer than that.
I was just repeating what FriedChicken responded with in another thread. Apparently we all have the right to waste a post just to indicate that we don't care about something. So I did :)
But obviously it does care cause people have replied and asked for information.
I think the shouting is great, cause it was brian's idea to have something like a musical speech, rather than a sung melody
Well okay will clearly have to hope that Mr.May releases it at some point in that case, but for some reason don't hold much hope?. Which gets me thinking as to whether he may ever give us another magical solo album? Wow that would be great+ a tour to go with! Or anyone think he's probably looking to wind-down soon (unfortunately obviously)?
