Hi, I'd like to know how old we all are, because I think that even though Queen began in the 70s, many of us hardly know who they were when Freddie was still alive. I am 24 and I must admit that didn't pay much attention when Freddie lived sorry :( but discovered Princes Of The Universe and changed my mind. Now I can't hear nothing but Queen's MUSIC. |

Well.......I'm 42, and not ashamed of that fact at all! Actually, being as old as I am has enabled me to see the band in full flight in their heyday, so I'm not complaining! Us older people were there from the start. Anyhow, I hope you guys and girls out their have nothing against us slightly older (!) people partaking in this forum and airing our experienced views on Queen and life, etc. |

Well...I'm 24 as well, but I found out about Queen about a year before Freddie died. I didn't even know anything about him being sick. I been a fan ever since. I would do anything possible to repay the boys for the way they have changed my life with their music. It really kills me to think that I never got to meet him in person. I just recently purchased the tribute concert,(and I'm not kidding when I say this) I had to turn if off half way through because I was balling my eyes out.(no joke I have yet to watch the whole show) One thing is for sure no matter how old you are, or if you've only heard one song. We all share the same feelings and praise. Thank you one and all. LOL!....you old folks keep sharing those experiences with us. Each post brings us closer. Thnx.M. |

Thanks, Tia. I guess the only advantage I have among this group of youngsters is that I was already an adult when QUEEN became successful and did lots of touring. Since I had extensive music training as a child, I was able to recognize the remarkable quality of QUEEN's music right away. In the 60's, 70's and 80's I was able to see a number of top artists perform live (including Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965, Whitney Houston, Journey, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, etc.), but QUEEN by far put on the best shows. Their music was top notch, their stage lighting was outstanding, and no one has ever been able to rival Freddie Mercury as a front man and performer. I actually preferred QUEEN in the 80's (rather than in the 70's) because Freddie toned down the ricidulous leotards, enabling everyone to concentrate on the music. Great shows indeed. If you have the Wembley '86 DVD, you get a good idea what their live shows were like. Everybody always left those shows happy and awe-struck. |

61. I didn't know about Queen until a year ago. Thanks to eBay and other, I now have about 20 books, 8 dvds, 7vhss, one stunning black and white 5 ft x 3 ft banner of the four (the same as The Works album cover) hanging on my wall; and surrounding the banner, I have about 50 8x10 colored photos of just Freddie primarily printed from the Queenzone picture gallery. Queen are endlessly fascinating. |

Well Rocky, you beat me. I'm 50 next year. It all started on 15th November 1973 at Worcester Gaumont, I went to see Mott The Hoople and Queen were supporting. Saw them 37 times throughout the years and was at Knebworth for the finale. and the FM Memorial (The atmosphere was brilliant) BTW. went to Cardiff and saw Queen + PR...it "Rocked" and was fine by me. Job well done. |

So lovely to see so many young fans getting into Queen. Proves, once again, how timeless really good music is. |

45, and I saw the original Queen line-up on their last two U.S. tours, 1980 & 1982. Great shows! I'm looking forward to Q+PR at the Hollywood Bowl. No matter how much I'm ground down by the weight of grown-up responsibility, I still enjoy going to rock concerts and even playing a little air guitar as if I was still 17 (except I look even sillier, but who cares?). It's nice to see a lot of young 'uns out there who are discovering Queen, not just us ummm...."mature" fans. Aging like fine wine, yes, that's it. |
