Appologies if this has been asked before, but a couple of days ago QOL put a thing about the countried releasing the new single and I failed to spot "the UK"???

Singles are pretty much just promo tools now. Some singles make money if they are around for a long time, but not often. Gets the song on the radio, highlights the album, get into the press, shows a presence in the chart - all built around raising awarness for the album.
Different countries have different buying cultures and charts of course. UK Singles market has been on its knees for years, plus we have no real hits anymore (James Blunt at No1 at the mo is a freaky result) they all just get in and get out over here.
And the same translated into plain English:
1) QP doesn't release singles in the UK because there's no profit.
2) Singles are used as nothing more than promos. There is already a promo single in the UK.
3) The UK chart is crap anyway, so there's no point in getting there.
