According to brianmay.com, Michelle Bruheim from Norway has died. For those of you who don't know her, she quit her studies before the tour, took a loan of 5000 UK pounds and saw about every gig of this tour except for the Italian gigs and the summer outdoor tour. In late April she even managed to persuade Danny Miranda to hire her (but I'm not sure how this actually ended). For many reasons I hated her behaviour but for many reasons I also admired her. She will definitely be missed, she was the symbol of this tour. |

I met Michelle in Frankfurt and she shocked me for her larger-than-life energy. She never stopped to talk, she was very nice with everybody. The german group introduced her to me and we had a small conversation, on which she (of course) asked me about the italian gigs, since she missed them. I heard many stories about her, she followed the band everywhere...she was THE fan. I'm sure she is truly missed by each and every person who met her; I'm really sad and speachless, may she rest in peace... :( |
Hank H. 19.08.2005 05:56 |
Was she the girl with black hair who was smoking cigarrettes all the time? The one who was waiting for the band at the barrier behind the venue in Leipzig with you? |
Jjeroen 19.08.2005 06:15 |
I'm speachles... I did not know Michelle that long. We met for the first time in Brixton and then enjoyed eachtohers company at about a dozen of shows, backstage gates and hotels that followed... Indeed she was a true fan. She lived for Queen and got the best job any fan could wish for. So incredibly sad that that job now caused her life to come to an end. I can not believe this. Wednesdaymorning we still sent eachother a couple of e-mails. She was obviously very busy but very happy. She was way too young to leave us. She will be missed... My thoughts go out to her family and friends. May they find the strength to carry the heavy burden of this loss. "So I raise my glass In a last goodbye. Sleep in peace my friend." (Oh and Martin: she did not miss the summer tour entirely... She was with us in Arnhem.) |
Mr. Scully 19.08.2005 06:16 |
Hank - yes, that was her, she was unfortunately also a heavy smoker. I met her for the first time in Vienna, we chatted a lot, it was cool. Then after some more gigs something changed... there were some things I couldn't understand... but nevermind. |
gnomo 19.08.2005 06:32 |
Poor child, will be missed a lot. I too did not agree with some of the things she did, but admired her nonetheless for having the courage of actually DOING what most of us would just dream about. She was so young ad so passionate, and most of the time totally alone in her passion and her determination, I think. I only met her once, in Dublin, at the band's hotel after the show. I'll always regret not being able to help her after she had to say goodbye to Brian - so desperate as she was, nothing we could say would comfort her. Goodbye, child. -- Gnomo |
YourValentine 19.08.2005 06:55 |
This is very sad news. I only met Michelle very briefly in Munich but she is on literally hundreds of tour photos I have. Everybody knew her, she was quite a character. It's hard to believe that she is dead. There was more to her life than the Queen 2005 tour but for us she will always be remembered as the biggest fan on this tour. My thoughts are with her family, it's incredibly hard to lose a child. The picture I uploaded to the Queenzone gallery was taken in Prague (I believe) by Queenzoner Wiley. link |
LoveRoger 19.08.2005 07:24 |
i've never heard about her-what did she do that you didn't like? do you know why did she die? |
Mr. Scully 19.08.2005 07:44 |
There were times when she was extremely generous and there were times when she was like "I want it all and I want it now" (and for free). Controversial and not really a person I would like to stay with for more than a couple of hours. But she was a symbol of the tour and won't be forgotten. |
LoveRoger 19.08.2005 08:01 |
oh i see.but why was she the symbol of the tour?what's so special about her? |
Mr. Scully 19.08.2005 08:07 |
She attended about 22 gigs which I think is a record for this tour. Vern from Queennline attended also around 20 gigs, don't know how many exactly. |
proton 19.08.2005 08:12 |
R.I.P. Michelle... We met at the Arnhem gig, she was trying to feed her Jack Daniels to the Japanese lookalike.... :-) She's no.5 on my list already of young people I knew or met (all queen fans) who died in the past 7 years.... ranging from 19 to 38 years in age. A shock everytime time... It reminds me again and again about how precious live is, and how short it can be/is... But I'd rather be reminded about that in another way than this... PS Christian from Austria also did 20 concerts sofar, Aruba will be his 21st... |

Please, people: Martin's first post clearly states that there is an official announcement on Brian May's website. If you are so interested in what has happened, why not take the effort to take a look over there? It says everything you need to know. |

Michelle RIP - so sad! Met her many times on this tour & got lots of text-messages from her! She was always jealous that I did attend the 4 spring-shows she could not go to (Milan, Firenze, Pesaro, Basel) Let's see it this way (and i guess she will see it that way too) she hangs out with Freddie now! |

I'm just shocked to hear this. I met Michelle in Vienna, like Mr. Scully. I hope you don't mind I write the whole story here, I just tend to write a lot and now it seems like a good moment so you all get the idea of how she was. I had just seen Queen live for the first time, for me traveling from Mexico, it was quite an accomplishment. It was really late at night and I didn't have a place to stay (I had just arrived that day from Budapest with the guys from the hungarian queen fan club and I hadn't booked a room - btw I don't speak german). She told me about how insecure were the train stations and that I should find a hostal, she told me about her hostal having rooms available and I tagged along with her (maybe she saved my life, god only know what would have been of me that night). We had dinner and chatted for a while and I couldn't believe the energy of this little girl and her almost insane love for Queen. We travelled together from Vienna to Munich in hungarian fan Miklos' car and had a blast. They were argueing all the time, but in a fun way. She wanted to go to Olympiahalle as soon as we arrived to Munich (about noon) just to be the first on the queue. We thought she was kidding but no, she REALLY HAD to be there. She couldn't wait. Having already seen the band about 6 or 7 times she still didn't want to miss a second. We took her all the way to the venue (on the other side of the city) and then returned to look for the hotel Miklos had booked (the reservation was no good, but that's another story, hehe :) ). I had a long talk with Michelle in Prague about her so called obsession with Queen and then it just hit me: Queen WAS HER LIFE!. I mean, she'd been in almost every public appearance of Brian and Roger since 2002 and she didn't hesitate to do it again every single time. In Prague, she wanted to go the band's hotel way past midnight (we arrived very late to our hotel, right in front of Sazka Arena). The guy from the hotel could not believe it. She just wanted to know how to get there. There was really no public transportation at that time but she still wanted to go. I persuaded her to wait till the morning and she did. She left for the hotel at 6 am. It was in Prague also when I witnessed a real moment of joy for her. We met all the guys from the band (I only missed Paul) outside of their hotel. In all this years, she had never met Roger and she did in Prague. I took her picture and it's a great picture. I tried to send her the picture by email but her inbox was full even a month after those gigs. I don't believe she ever saw that picture and I'm really sad about it. I should have tried to send it to her after that but I forgot about it. Now, she'll never see it. :( On the other hand, it was really funny because she told Roger she was attending 28 concerts. He was really surprised and said: "28!! I'M not attending that many!!" and laughed. Then he said she was crazy and touched her forehead with the black marker he was using to give autographs. If you pay attention you can see a black dot in her forehead. Just look at her, so happy, so full of life. We only met briefly and also had some differences, but I can't believe she's gone and she'll be missed. She was an inspiration, she was the ULTIMATE QUEEN FAN. Rest in peace, Michelle... |

I did not know who Michelle was before I read this and then read it on Brian May's website. This is really sad! She sounds quite amazing and she was definitely a true fan from what is told here. My thoughts go to her and her family and friends. I just hope Freddie is taking good care of her up there! I think he is. |

I too (along with my friends) met Michelle first at the Brixton concert and then met her at some other shows. The last one I believe was Wembley when she told me she had visited my site in the past and had left an entry in my guestbook. It was a surprise to her to find out who I was! During our meetings I saw Paul and Brian help her out financially so she could sleep in a hotel and she had to assure them she would buy a decent meal. That's how she lived during this tour. She was always there, at a concert, and always willing to talk and to proudly show her concert pix with every bandmember, really special ones. Still I found her a bit strange but I did not really know her of course. So sad she died in an accident, it seems so pointless. But I know she has had perhaps the greatest time of her life, meeting her heroes and seeing those shows. Goodbye Michelle. This is the picture I took of Michelle and Rick Parfitt outside Wembley Pavilion after the concert: link |

I can't even begin to describe how devastated I am by the loss of our wonderful Michelle. She was a truly remarkable human being and I feel honoured to have known her. I first met her in Paris where she was standing next to me for the show. She was overwhelmingly enthusiastic and a joy to be with. She persuaded me to wait for the band after the show and I will always treasure those couple of hours with her. We next met in Rotterdam where she approached me near the stage door. We gossiped for a while and then went to the shopping centre for an hour or so. A few days later in Hamburg I turned up really early at the venue and true to form, there she was reading Oscar Wilde, in her black 'Queen Tour '05' hoodie in a deserted part of the car park. She was so proud that she had been given a piece of Brian's guitar that had fallen off and wore it on a chain around her neck. We spent a few hours together in Newcastle to and in Birmingham she took us all to the airport to buy condoms to throw at the stage. This was Michelle all over - genuinely fun to be with. I've sent condolences to her phone and had a lovely reply from her mum. I'm glad that she had such a wonderful time in Europe this year and am inconsoleable that we won't be touring Japan together as we'd planned. It will not be the same without her. It would be great to see a tribute to her somewhere. She was such a positive influence on so many people that it is appropriate that the tour should be dedicated to her memory. She always used to end her text's with 'Keep Yourself Alive'. The more I think about this the sadder I become. Life seems so unfair. I loved her and so did many others. Rest in peace Michelle and God bless You. Simon Mckinlay Reading |

We would like to send a united message of support on behalf of all the Queen family to the Bruheim family. If you would like to donate some money towards flowers or a donation to a charity depending on the Bruheim family wishes. Any donation is welcome. We would be sending some flowers before the end of next week as its (more or less certainly) Michelles funeral on Friday 26th. So if you will be donating please do this as soon as possible. We will send a small bunch of flowers and any remaining money will be kept and sent on the to family in accordance with their wishes to set up a trust fund to follow Michelles support for Aids Charities. To add a donation you can do so through paypal on this link. We will also be adding a link to the website sometime today. link |

Hi Miklos. First I would like to say thank you to all of Michelle's Queen-family friends for all the support we've received the past week. I can also report that there was a beautiful memorial for her today here in Oslo. There were over 200 people attending, tributes and flowers from Queen, Brian, Paul & Cynthia, Spike, Danny, Jamie, Pete the guitar tech etc etc. Michelle would have loved it. The complete program is accessible on link. I should also mention that there will be posted a page on same said site with pix and eulogies from the memorial. To clarify re: Michelle & Roger Taylor pic - She used my office (after working hours) to access her e-mails and I can confirm she did receive the picture of herself with Roger Taylor just days before she so tragically died. When I arrived at work the next morning she had taken an A4 colour copy and tacked it in the middle of my bulletin board. It will never be coming down.. I miss her terribly. I jsut returned from my holiday and a horrible news was sitting in my inbox... I only attended the Budapest show, but I could not notice that this particular girl was so very special. Although natural and unrestrained, one could say the she was the fan of them all. She was surprised I knew her name although we were not introduced. It happened on the afternoon of the concert, in front of the Four Seasons hotel, when awaiting for the band to appear. We haven't had a discussion, I only explained her how I learned about her name, from the other people in the group, when talking about the tour - and she was mentioned as one of the most outstanding figure. She had loads of pictures and every one of them had its own story. Unfortunatelly there is no one to tell them anymore. Rest in peace Michelle |

Yeah, she's all over the place on the DVD :-) In 39 she's there in several shots. At least one of them, you can tell, it was put in there on purpose. (The one right before the song, When you Brian talks about faces he knows and faces he sees for the first time, etc) |
