OK, thanks to a friend, here's my effort at an HFE Freddie / Roger duet. link
It might be a bit rough round the edges, but it's the best I can do, without isolated vocal versions of each. Please don't forget to comment if you download this. :)
Cant find that much of a fault with this other than what you said. Your ideas about what you were trying achieve seemed pretty clear. Quite liked the way you had Freddie repeating bits of what Roger was singing (or was that unintentional? I havent listened to any version of the song in ages) Still nice to hear.
Well done Lord F!!
Dave
First of all, I like your mix :)
But there where 2 things I didn't like
First, at 1:20 it sounds a bit hollow (or something like that)
Second, the echo-thing at the end of the song.
Another great Lord Fickle creation ;)

Thanks Dan! The parts at 1:20, and the delay at the end are what was already on my other mix of HFE, which I used in part for this one. I think the 'hollow' sound is the unintended result of running the two versions together. I didn't know about inverting the phase then. One or two bits of it actually work, and the ears become accustomed after a few listens. What would be nice, would be to have an isolated vocal of Roger's version, so that the lines could be synchronised better.
Had a bit of a fiddle with this - not sure if I've made it better or worse! The main difficulty seems to be getting the drums in sync, with two versions running together. I've made a few adjustments to the first chorus, and the extra drum bit before that (1:18) started off as an accident, but then I thought it sounded quite good, so left it in! Also got rid of that 'tube' sounding first chorus, by using both Roger's and Freddie's vocals, instead of just Freddie's, thus avoiding the phasing effect. Oh, and seeing as no one liked it, the 'echo-thing' at the end has gone. :) link
I've literally just finshed listening to this mix and its excellent - both technically and musically. Beautifully done. My compliments to Lord Fickle (better late than never)!
OK, here it is again. link
For some reason, I couldn't find the original "New Fickle Mix" on my hard drive, but I had it on a compilation. Unfortunately (for you), I had merged the intro with the outro of One Vision, which can be heard here, so I'm afraid this is the best I can re-upload at the moment.
Thank You, your Lordship. I loved both versions, it's great to hear Roger & Freddie dueting + Brian's harmonies & Guitar Work. Although I like the "Made In Heaven" Queen Version. I think Queen should have mixed it more to your thinking, with Roger singing also. Well Done!! keep up the good mixing :o)
Speaking of "Made in Heaven", me lord, any chance you might try your hand at that track sometime? I've always thought it was a shame that the beautiful, angelic a capella opening from the extended Freddie solo version didn't figure prominently into the Queen version. There's also a "The eYe" instrumental version, I believe (as you're doubtless aware). By the way, I'm listening at this very moment to your "I Was Born to Love You" mix, which is just fantastic. Love it.
Anyway, just a word in your ear ;-)
That's a possibility, indeed. I have all the requisite material. I'll have a play with it when I get a chance, and see what happens, although I think The eYe version was just a repeated "bom.... da dahhhh da" loop, wasn't it? Unfortunately, I haven't managed to lay my hands on my eYe CD since I moved, but it's time I sorted out the boxes in the garage anyway!
I'm sure there's a full length instrumental of "Made in Heaven" on one of those "The eYe" discs, in addition to that loop you mentioned. If you're unable to locate it, I'm sure a copy could find its way to you magically. Or electronically. *ahem*
And your TATDOOL mix is also terrific. I'm compiling a Fickle collection - lol
Re a MIH mix, I've located The eYe instrumental version, but not the extended FM version, which I thought was on Mr Bad Guy, but isn't. Guess I'll have to look a bit harder for that one!
