That was the Classical Album Chart and not the Pop Album Hot 200 Chart.
IMO, Roger had the best solo albums because he consistently had better albums over a longer period. Brian and Freddie were hit-or-miss for me. I love Back to the Light; didn't care for the lazy Another World. I love Barcelona; think Mr. Bad Guy is too 80s synth pop and aged poorly. But Fun in Space, Happiness, Electric Fire and about half of Strange Frontier are pretty terrific. The Cross stuff left me cold for the most part.
I'd have to go with Mr. Bad Guy. BUT, I do like the version of Made in Heaven that Roger Brian and John have had re-recorded much better.
I wish Freddie would've gotten a better sound out of his studio musicians/sound engineers on that album though.
Well, I really love Brian's Back To The Light. At first, I disliked pretty much Another World... but in time it grew on me. It's very different, but it's a nice album. Has some great tracks on it. Oh well, I know it's not much appreciated on this forum, but that doesn't matter to me. I simply like it...
As for Roger's solo work, I think he has some terrific songs... and some very crappy ones altogether. Strange Frontier is to me his best album, but I dislike Electric Fire, except for some tracks. Same about The Cross stuff: some great songs (Liar, Power To Love, Sister Blue), but unfortunatley some very bad ones too :(
Best album is Mr Bad guy and electric fire!
How could you guys listen to Roger's earlier works, i mean those synths just killed me!! I'm going to listen again, because i can be wrong. About the Cross stuff, just don't get me started, it's to pop-ish!! I think Roger voice goes better with heavy rock.
Take care
