Hi folks, I got the 2trk Promo CD from Sheffield today. Take your hands off it, it´s NOT worth it !!! When i turned it on, i really thought i can´t believe it. Awful sound, not well mixed: Paul´s voice not strong enough & wrong singing, Brian´s guitar is very weird, and seems to be a bit out of tune, not the Brian sound i´m used to. I´m a musician myself, thanks to my ears i notice every little mistake. Why the hell do they want to release this show & not instead any other, where they are in better shape ? Just because Freddie´s mum was present ? They did a much better job in Vienna, Frankfurt, Budapest or Pesaro. BE AWARE. THE MAGIC OF QUEEN IS GONE WITH THIS RECORDING !!! What do you think about it ?? |

Hankster 09.08.2005 11:46 |
the promo sounds wonderfull .. "our musician" is just a QPR basher I guess |
Rompez 09.08.2005 12:29 |
I guess he(she) will try to flood this forum by such messages: Sheffield BE AWARE It SUCKS!! or maybe even Queen 1991 R.I.P. |
Rompez 09.08.2005 12:32 |
Next guess, Mountreux is a promoter employed by Queen Productions. |

Every bit of Sheffield I have heard so far, even on the television has been absolubtly amazing. Even the picture quality astounded me. |

I personally think the two gigs I went, Cardiff C.I.A and Hyde Park were excellent. I was not at the Sheffield gig but am aware this was one of their weaker performances and I thought, "Shit, there is me going on about how excellent they have been and they are releaing the concert that shows them far from their best!". I have to say, I though Hyde Park was exceptional. Paul Rodger's voice was very strong and the music was very tight. Did they film this at all, because I did see cameramen there. I believe if they released the Hyde Park concert on dvd and cd then it would be a winner! Place Peter Kay's parts in there and happy days!!! |

Has anyone except from mountreux heard the promo from Sheffield? I think everything so far has sounded good, so what is he talking about really? |
Bobby_brown 09.08.2005 15:25 |
I've seen We are the champions, and it's very good indeed! Paul's voice it's amazing and so is the band. As Brian said before, as they knew the concert was being filmed for release they gave a litle bit extra from themselves, and i think the final result is amazing. It's about time to stop criticism on everything they do. Wich was the best concert of the tour? Can we really decide that?- For me, it was Lisbon because i was there, but probably those who were at Hide Park will say deferent. The thing is, this concert was already planned for release almost when the tour began, and they were playing each night the best they could so when the time arrives they would be on ecxcellent shape!! So, everybody was on top form, and to say that Brian guitar was out of tune...I don't need to ear the CD to say that isn't true simply because were talking about Brian May! I don't need to say more. And i really think they did a good decision by releasing this concert instead of the outdoor ones!! Take care |

Superb! The "Intro" couldn't possibly be better than that !! |

Sounds fine to me ... there's my 2 cents |

Sounds great to me...excellent! A stupendous live experience!! Perhaps you can hear me screaming in the nosebleed seats in sheffield ;-) Having seen all the UK shows-I'll admit that sheffield was not the best show of the lot-for me Cardiff, Belfast and Manchester in their own ways were better..as far live shows go in the big scheme of things the Sheffield DVD will be a hit. I can't wait until the release date!! |

It does sound cool. I immediately notice the fact that TYMD is played faster than it was played at the two shows I went to: Arnhem and Antwerpen. So I do believe they really did give something extra during this show. |
Fenderek 10.08.2005 05:18 |
Call me weird- I think it sounds fantastic... It WASN'T the best performance, but that's the one they bloody videod- so hat do yo uwant them to do? release fan recording from Firenze...? I believe Hyde Park would make much better release- still, performance in Sheffield wasn't THAT bad- the audience kind of was at times, but the performance... I saw worse as well... |
freesia 10.08.2005 06:13 |
I went to Sheffield, and I have to say, OK Im not a musician, but I do love Queen, the concert blew me away. I am willing to accept that it may not have been the best concert, I wouldnt know because it was the only one I could afford to go to, I would reserve judgement on the cd/dvd until I get it, but I do think that some (only a few) people had sour grapes because Sheffield was filmed, got under pressure aswell as the set list, and Freddies Mum there, we were very lucky thats all, and I might add, that we also had to put up with the lights being on all the time for the filming, but who cares, we saw the guys, had them entertaining us, and had a bloody fantastic time. |

mountreux wrote: Why the hell do they want to release this show & not instead any other, where they are in better shape ? Just because Freddie´s mum was present ?Sheffield was set as the DVD Show from the start of the Tour; this was revealed at Brixton. No doubt Freddie's mum was invited because of this. I still think the performance at Sheffield was good- check out the Bootlegs- but the Crowd is awfully flat. The best indoor shows were Budapest and Prague; I think its a shame the former wasn't released- though saying that, Sheffield has a better setlist. |
Hankster 10.08.2005 11:10 |
okay .. Paul's voice wasn't at its best at Sheffield .. but the band as a whole was in top form that evening! For what I've heard from other recordings and what I've heard live at Arnhem.. Sheffield was one of the best shows of the Tour. Especially Brian gave his best and made, for what I've heard so far, almost not a single little mistake. Roger was also very good! The audience was godd, although not as good as Ahoy and The Dome ;) .. I think we can be very happy that they choose to record Sheffield, and that some stuff of Hyde Park will be released at the Bonus Disc For what I've heard, the whole TYMD, FBG and WATC and parts of WWRY, Show and Allright, Sheffield was one of their best so far, together with Hyde Park and Collogne. Maybe Paul's voice wasn't at its best .. but the same counts for Freddie's voice during Wembley ;) |
Fenderek 10.08.2005 11:37 |
Paul's voice was in Sheffield better tahn in Manchester or Birmingham- he also sang more songs! I thought that his performance was actually pretty good in Sheffield... The only thing I didn't like- and I said it sooo amny times- was the audience. It's going to look amazing during WATC or ga-Ga, but not so fantastic during "Love My Car" or "Feel Like Mkain' Love"... |
Richard Lopata (new email) 11.08.2005 13:00 |
they should have filmed Rotterdam ... that was so fucking awesome |

Perhaps the cameras and mics caught that !! ;-) |

Hitman 17.08.2005 12:29 |
in the video of the 4 italian gigs the audience would have been like a stadium crowd for the band i tell you! ;) btw...it's clear montreux is just spamming |

It was clear, that most of you will say the opposite. I really admire Brian & Roger for their stuff & they did some great shows (for example in Budapest, Frankfurt, Vienna,...) on the current tour, but if i buy a Queen product i want it 100% perfect. Yes, i´m a musican. Okay, go on and make your jokes about it. I don´t want to make "Queen" bad, but the happened mistakes disturb me. Like as any other fan, i looked forward to the new stuff, but was disappointed. To say, that Paul is allowed to make singing mistakes, because Freddie´s voice wasn´t the best at Wembley, doesn´t count, because for me Freddie was still able to make it special & something good out of his mistakes. If Paul makes mistakes, he isn´t able to make something out of it, just like pushing something against you. Just because the guy on the guitar is called Brian May, doesn´t mean he is the best. Okay, he was my inspiration to play guitar, but years going on, he surprises me badly from tim to time. Moreover do you really think the cover of the new CD is for real ? "RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS" ? There are only two guys left, they name themselves Queen, but aren´t. It would be more than enough to call it just "QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS Live" I guess all comes down to different tastes. |

montreaux- you're weird. Paul Rodgers is more talented than five Mercurys put together! I LOVE THIS TOUR!!! And I will be queuing for the DVD all night to be the first one to get it!!! |

i think they should of waited till they finished the tour first, then listened to each concert and decided which sounded better, cos i agree sheffield sounds great, but there were better concerts, personally i think newcastle but i mean hyde park rocked, i wasnt there but from what iv seen on the dvd it was the best show iv seen/heard so far. |
