i cant understand why dont stop me now was dropped from the queen setlist after the jazz and live killers tours. i think its a great song and the live rendition of it is really upbeat and lively. would love to have seen it in the magic tour setlist.
I dont think that would be a reason as to why it was dropped. I would love to see it on my concert DVD's as it is such a crowdwarmer/amazing song. However, I believe its just due to new songs coming out, and giving the crowd a different show each time :) It dosnt matter if Brian hates it, it's about the show and pleasing the fans :)
i was thinking that too. it is one of my favourite queen songs and i think they under played it. it is one of their songs that people who are not huge queen fans recognise instantly and love.
It may have been because it's an incredibly difficult song to sing. Freddie could do most anything he wanted, but comfort and strategy-wise, if you couple the fact that there's almost no pause for breath between long, fast lines, with Freddie's explosive stage show, he may have found the drying effects of gulping breaths and the overall wear on his daily vocal endurance more trouble than it was worth for that one song. One of my all-time faves though - I jumped out of my seat and cheered when it popped up in Shaun Of The Dead.
i got the information from
1 the greatest hits 1 dvd where at the start of the commentry roger says to brian in a sarcastic voice " ha ha ur favourite"
and
2 when the song won the top gear award the reason brian wouldn't accept the award was that he didnt like the song according to the presenter.

Yeah,I agree.Unfortunately Brian don't like it at all.... :(
But it's a great song...
Well,I'm not in Brian's head or even better I don't know if sth happended during the recording on the studio, maybe they didn't put sth he wrote to put Don't stop me now.Perhaps he didn't like the lyrics or the whole song....Brian only have the answer about that subject...I' m just guessing the reason... :)
"Not one of my favourite songs, and one of the most boring videos we ever made !"
Rog on the audio commentary on GVH2
I second the thing about the video... lame...

Agreed- simply BORING.
Generally those commentaries on DVDs are great- I love Roger wandering if he still has the shirt from IWTBF... Or complaining about his own hair :)

I've heard John hated Boh Rhap.. and that was never taken off the set list so I guess that Don't stop me now was not taken off the set list because Brian hated it.
Set lists have to change.. and they just got to cut something out for new material. But it would have been gret to see that song on Magic tour set list :P This is the kind of song that, at least I, like to just listen to loud, sing along and have myself a real good time ;)
I would think it was due to the wordy-ness of the song, and speed of the lyrics. It would take a lot out of anyone - especially under the 'Pizza Oven' lighting rig Queen had.
