Just want to see what you all regard as Mr. Mercury's best vocal performance in the studio of course. Personally I cant decide and was just wondering what some of you other queenzoners thought. |

Mustapha That song is nearly impossible for anyone else but Freddie to sing (besides maybe traditional middle-eastern vocalists). He performs numerous trills, forced vibratos for flavor, and slides around the minor scale as if he was born doing it. |

Studio: Bohemian Rhapsody - WITHOUT A DOUBT. No contest. He does well on songs like Somebody to Love, but NO ONE can do Bohemian Rhapsody like Freddie Mercury. Look at George Michael he did a pretty good version of Somebody to Love didn't he? You might personally not like his voice, but he hit all the notes and falsettos on key. But Bohemian Rhapsody - There aren't many singers if any who could sing it perfectly on key like Freddie. Especially the "now I've gone and thrown it ALLLLLLLL away". Mustapha? Talk it up, the vocals on that song are nothing special. Same as Let Me Entertain You and Dead On Time. Bohemian Rhapsody - That is the vocal performance that sets Freddie Mercury apart from the rest of the crowd. Live........ hmmm tough one. Probably Hammersmith 1979 or 1975, those take some beating. Actually it's gotta be Wembley 86, just joking. |

Uh, let me pull out my list, haha: Bohemian Rhapsody of course is 1 Don't try so hard In the lap of the gods (both versions) Keep Yourself Alive (for being like 1 of their first songs it rocks!) My Fairy King Innuendo The Show Must Go On I can't Live With You Dreamer's Ball I'll stop because I'm mostly just writing down my favorites. Woops. But I think he sang them very well. |

Fastidious and Precise 07.08.2005 09:59 |
its kinda hard to establish and pin point one vocal performance in the stuidio that can be classed as freddies best as his voice was continually evolving and so when he was at his the peak of his vocal range in songs like nevermore for example it sounds less powerful than for example when in a winters tale he sings "its oh oh so beautiful". Thanks for your suggestions but i still find it hard to decide which song can be classified as his best as there is so much diversity to freddies vocals. |
goinback 07.08.2005 22:35 |
Yeah...I'd tend to agree with Somebody To Love or Love Of My Life too :) My mom was a music teacher in the '80s and used to use those songs as examples lol |

I must agree, Zoroaster and Insomni@. I think it's a tie between those two. I mean, Nevermore is straight from the heart, making his voice more beautiful in it. And as for Mustapha, well, there's no sense in me repeating Zoroaster. :3 |

In my opinion, The show must go on is his masterpiece.... freddie hits high notes, in a powerful way... Other good studio performances are, IMO: - Don't Stop me Now - The March of the Black Queen - A Winter's tale - In my defence best LIVE performance IMO: Hammersmith 79, by far... byee! |
