Been wondering for some time. Why do they use backing vocals during We Will Rock You? Don't they think the audience can sing it by themselves? Or is there a other reason? Anyone know or have an opinion on this?
Yep my opinion on that is i think it is stupid Queen are getting old and they dont want the crowd to feel the part, and were the hell is John Deacon these days?
The crowd should be allowed to sing with them as on the DVD Live At Wembley 86.

Well, unfortunately that was forbidden- there was a special police shoting on site anyone who dared... *rolls eyes*
It's fuckin' up to audience, isn't it? I said so many times that the one in Sheffield was just flat, lame, terrible, boring. That's it, has nothing to do with the band. It's not Brian's fault the folks had only GH and couldn't recognise some songs or only knew choruses to Ga-Gas and Champions... In Manchester for instance audience was REALLY loud (surprisingly you can't ehar it on bootleg recording...) and sang almost entire gig...! Same happened in Cardiff...

Indeed. I was at sheffield. People were more interested in fetching Jumbo beers during than payoing attention to the show let alone singing along. We had one bloke who told us to be quiet because he wanted to listen to rogers drum solo? Quiet at a rock show? Sitting to listen to a drum solo??? Give me a break...They are not the F*** London Phil. Orchestra.
I think the Dutch audience was just great. Haven't been in Rotterdam, but the audience in Antwerpen (Belgium, but a lot of Dutch visitors) and Arnhem were very enthusiastic.
Here's a short mpeg file of Arnhem: link
