Anne of Ballyratshire shall be playing the mouth harp and cowbell for Queen + Paul Rodgers in New Jersey. The cowbell will be featured on such classics as "Tie Your Mother Down" and "The Show Must Go On", while the mouth harp and kazoo will make appearances on "Radio Ga Ga" and numerous other songs. I will also have a 15 minute cowbell solo session, immediately after Roger's drum solo. Both Brian and Roger have forfeited portions from their solos so that I may grace the stage for an extended amount of time, wooing and wowing the audience with my classical performance of the cowbell. Looking forward to seeing you all there! Our official promo photo has been posted on my profile. God bless, Anne The Dutchess of Ballyratshire |
Erin 05.08.2005 12:59 |
I will be featured on the triangle during Wishing Well.. See you there! |
SA of Ballyratshire 05.08.2005 13:00 |
Erin, Lord have mercy! Sounds like we've got us a REAL live band! How lucky we are! We're going to blow Paul Rodgers out of the friggin' water! Hugs and cowbells - Anne |
Erin 05.08.2005 13:10 |
Did I mention the washboard solo? |
Shay 05.08.2005 13:13 |
Well, while we're on the subject, I might as well announce that I will playing accordion during a new song Roger & I have been working on -- "I'm In Love With My Accordion" |
SA of Ballyratshire 05.08.2005 13:33 |
Shay, I absolutely can't wait! I'm a maestro of the cowbell, Erin is quite good on triangle and washboard (she's from South Carolina, so I'm only assuming as much) and I am just hoping and praying that you can really give hell to an accordion. I'm in the process of trying to convince Roger, Brian and Paul to simply change the name of the tour to Queen + Friends, so that the tour title accomodates our presence. Erin, I truly hope that Brian also allows us to blend together the sounds of South Carolina and the rolling hills of the Welsh countryside in a song that I propose come immediately after Radio Ga Ga. No telling what we could come up with - you play washboard, I play the harp? Hell, the possibilities are endless. So exciting. The Meadowlands will be one hell of a night to remember! The Duthcess forever and always - Anne |

Erin, That band looks first class! Why, maybe we could even get Earl Scruggs to finger pick us a little banjo at the Meadowlands. Slowly but surely, this is starting to look like Friends + Queen, not Queen + Friends. |
doremi 05.08.2005 13:41 |
I'll be there tearing up the house on kazoo! I'm also a virtuoso on spoons! |

Oh, the possibilities... |
inu-liger 05.08.2005 14:44 |
And for the first encore, I will be joining Queen on bass for "Another One Bites The Dust" and "Comfortably Numb" (the latter which will also be sung by me and Paul Rodgers, with me doing Roger Waters' parts and Paul doing Dave Gilmour's parts) After which, I will join the rest of the "+ Friends" cast on stage for a rousing applause, and 2nd encore, where we will sing "We Will Rock You", "We Are The Champions", leave the stage with the new "God Save The Queen" remix playing in folded-down stereo, and then come back onstage for a 3rd and last encore, with the songs "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Bless The U.S.A.", with me on the roto toms and backing vocals |

If I'd known you were letting just ANYBODY in, I'd have sent my own demo tape. I play a wicked stereo, am a virtuoso on one of those tiny toy pianos, AND, I'm world-class yodeler. Did I read correctly that someone will be playing the triangle, washboards, and the jugs? In just what kind of venue will this band perform? The Bada Bing maybe since the first gig is in Jersey? (Which exit?) |
SA of Ballyratshire 05.08.2005 15:14 |
Inu, I've got to get you in the promo picture - pronto! I love the updated set list. We're going to rock "Star Spangled Banner" like never before! Crazy Little Thing, Currently, we're accepting anyone and everyone to join the + Friends crowd. Brian and Roger have given me free reign to select virtuosos of any instrument - jugs, cowbell, mouth harp, bongos, washboards - anything goes! Truly, Anne |

OFFICIAL QUEEN + PAUL + SUE + FRIENDS NEWS: Much to the bewilderment and confusion of Brian May, Roger Taylor, Paul Rodgers and Queen fans around the world, I have decided to include Ooompa Loompas in the Queen + Paul Rodgers + Dutchess Sue Anne Taylor + Friends show at the Meadowlands on October 16. When I first told Brian, he immediately discarded the idea, until Roger convinced him otherwise. Roger's exact words were "Freddie would have wanted it this way." I can only assume Roger meant that Freddie would have wanted a proper show with Ooompa Loompas, a banjo player, a Dutchess who plays a cowbell, an accordion player and Paul Rodgers singing in his place with "Star Spangled Banner" as an encore. As well, Inu Liger has joined the + Friends line up and will bring to the stage a new flavour of Queen - so new, in fact, it's actually Pink Floyd. Two encores will follow, ended by a very dramatic rendition of "God Bless the USA". Do I hear fireworks? Edmonton based punk band Unbalanced will be opening the show. link The promo photo can now be viewed on my profile. We'll re-take the picture again and again, as more + Friends join the band. |

Thanks SA! I actually liked what you did with it! Damn, do I look good in those kind of glasses! Maybe I should get a new prescription...?! Ah, well in two years time less a few months, I can get another pair of glasses free or much cheaper under my benefits plan, and next time I'll get glasses with clip-on shades! (I couldn't with my current pair, which is my 2nd pair, cos I couldn't afford anything that wasn't covered under the basic coverage plan) ED: Where am I in that last post you made about the 'news', SA?! Surely, my bass talents won't go unnoticed! |

You want Harry Belafonte? I'll get you Belafonte. Check the promo picture on my profile - who's that standing beside me? Mr. Belafonte himself. So, the lineup as it is now is Queen + Paul Rodgers + Dutchess Sue Anne Taylor + Harry Belafonte + Friends |
Crazy LittleThing 05.08.2005 20:12 |
Awww yeah. Harry The B! Nice work SA, not only are you a Dutchess, but you are a public relations wizard! Geldof could have used you for Live Aid/8. We've ALL noticed that even HE couldn't score the Oompa Loompas. Well done! BTW, not to be a pest, but do you think you could persuade Harry and the Oompa Loompas to sit for another quick session with the photographer so you can get a shot complete with the Jim Beach-regulation- issue-sunglasses? And to think . . . this all started back at the Stratocaster 50th Anniversary gig . . . why it seems like just yesterday . . . |
SA of Ballyratshire 05.08.2005 20:23 |
Ah, yes - the sunglasses. Harry wasn't too thrilled over the idea and the Ooompa Loompas ardently refused. Jim Beach had an absolute fit. But... Let me see if I can't get Harry to throw on a pair. Ok, ok. Check the promo photo. I knew I could at least get Harry to come around. It's amazing, isn't it? We all know just where to stand to make the last picture as good as the first. Maybe I should contact Bob Geldof. I'm thinking Live Aid, Live 8 and perhaps Live +. It'd certainly give us all a chance to grace the stage again after the Meadowlands show. ||.. QUEEN + FRIENDS BREAKING NEWS ..|| Dame Edna has agreed to join the + Friends crew. Shortly after confirming her presence at the Meadowlands on October 16, I was surprised yet again: Margaret Thatcher will be joining the + Friends lineup. For the promo picture, Jim Beach gave the ladies the option of wearing sunglasses. Both chose to grace the photo naturally. As you know, it was mandatory just hours ago that we all "look cool", as Jim calls it. So, as I have it- Queen + Paul Rodgers + Sue Anne Taylor + Harry Belafonte + Dame Edna + Margaret Thatcher + Friends |
Crazy LittleThing 05.08.2005 22:10 |
SA: Again, I hate to run the risk of being labeled a pest, but where's Liza? And I might as well admit it . . . the world knows me as Angelina Jolie. |
SA of Ballyratshire 05.08.2005 23:00 |
Angelina, why didn't you tell me it was you all along? Jesus. How's Brad? I have edited the latest news to accomodate the addition of Liza to the + Friends group. Margaret Thatcher and Dame Edna both said to me, "I hate that bitch", so they have both decided to leave the + Friends brigade. |

Ravenetta wrote: can i just say (and im not braggin i swear!) im a simply AMAZING at the one string guitar?I can attest that Ravenetta's comments are absolutely no brag at all. I recently attended one of Ravenetta's gigs in Mumbai and indeed, a more magnificent single-string guitarist has NEVER graced this Earth. I was awestruck by the performance, and it was truly astonishing to see the embodiment of grace under pressure when Ravenetta broke said string, and calmly and professionally cut another length of twine, and restrung the guitar while the audience just stood there like slack-jawed yokels. And talk about shredding! SA: Just a head's up . . . you may have to use the "kid glove" treatment when alerting Mr May of this brilliant addition to the ensemble. The competition between these two may indeed become quite fierce. Also, quite a feather in your cap, getting Liza aboard so quickly. She and Harry make a lovely couple. Brad is fine, says to say hello, and remind you that you and he will always share the memory of that wonderful evening on the corner of Hollywood and Las Palmas. Kiss kiss, Anj |
SA of Ballyratshire 06.08.2005 12:38 |
Angelina, I am beyond excited that we now have so many first class celebrities in the + Friends army. I have mentioned to Brian that the Meadowlands show go under the banner Friends + Queen, but he seemed none too interested. I figure we'll show them just who comes after the +. Liza and Harry do make a lovely couple. They are very, very excited about rocking New Jersey together. Tell Brad I send him my love and that like him, I will never ever forget that magical evening, those passionate kisses - tell him I'll always have the scars to remember him by. What a night! ps: I think you should bring your Red Special to the Meadowlands. What if Brian drops out, all together? Do you think we can get by with calling it Queen + with just Roger on drums? Ravenetta, You're in. No questions asked. I've been hoping and praying for a true one-string guitarist. Seems like the good lord has answered my prayers. I'll gently break the news to Brian. I certainly don't want him to feel like he's being put on the back burner. MORE QUEEN + FRIENDS NEWS TO COME Anne |
Crazy LittleThing 06.08.2005 17:08 |
SA: Queen with just Roger? Absolutely. After all, he does look quite fetching all dolled up in a skirt as you've no doubt seen. And, as my homies in the 'hood might say, I'm totally down with this idea of yours to drop the whole + Paul Rodgers thing. No need to single him out for special recognition. He's just another + Friend, isn't he? No egos among the + Friends gang! We're all just in this for the love of the music. I'm so flattered you suggested I bring my guitar to The Meadowlands. You're such a giver! I shall do that very thing! I assumed that such an honor would go directly to our own dear little Johnny Knoxville, who has made himself quite scarce of late, but t'would indeed be a long bicycle ride for the dear boy all the way to New Jersey. However, I'm thrilled to accept the position of Brian May's "designated guitarist." It sounds so grand that I am all giddy with excitement, and shall get down to the business of actually learning to play. Now, what did I do with that Mel Bay "Beginner's Guitar for Idiots" book? It's as if it were written for me alone! I wonder, does anyone know the accepted protocol/procedure for repairing a broken fingernail on stage, mid-Last Horizon? Does the manicurist/nail technician come out on stage and repair the nail on the spot, or does Brian simply press on and hope no one in the crowd notices the ruined manicure? Since this will be in New Jersey, must it be a Union manicurist/nail technician? And how does one determine if the amps are truly turned up to 11? I shall indeed be in rare form at The Meadowlands gig should the nod come my way. Fingers crossed! |
SA of Ballyratshire 06.08.2005 19:01 |
Crazy Little Thing, First, thank you for your inquiries. Every detail - every fingernail is of the utmost importance. Second, I have indeed decided to drop Paul Rodgers from the + roster. I think + Friends pretty much sums up the event, though I have been insistant that + Dutchess Sue Anne Taylor, + Liza Minelli and + Harry Belafonte stay on the official title. Upon the Ooompa Loompas agreeing to join us in the encore ("God Bless the USA"), I'd initially thought to add + Ooompas to the title, but then digressed. I figured no one would really understand... No one, of course, but we Friends. Like you, I'd hoped Johnny Knoxville would tote his Dillion Red Special to the event, but it seems he can't come all that way. After all, he is merely 13 years old. Oh, what a treat it would be, none the less, to see him attempt such a feat. I sure hope he's figured his RS out. On the same lines- To get my amp at 11, I like to hook up a microphone very close to the Vox speaker then have the microphone input to a PA system. I turn the Vox to 10 and the PA to 1, therefore giving me a perfect 11. Genious, isn't it? Of course, you could vary this to get other numbers - 12, 13, even 15! The "designated guitarist" mustn't be a maestro, just learn how to use a lot of effects (phasing, distortion, treble, bass, etc). That way, you can simply play a bunch of crap and the effects will do all of the work for you. You'll sound grand, I am sure and you won't have to learn a single note. Brian told me personally that he uses the same technique. On a final note, if you break a nail mid-show, we have made arrangements to employ the services of union nail technicians to repair it. Currently, they are on strike and are asking for $24.50 per hour during the entire length of the concert - whether we employ their services or not! How ridiculous. They call it "emergency nail and cuticle standby pay". I'm quite put out with them. Don't worry, we'll come to terms with them. You'll have an army of nail techs just dying for you to break a nail mid-note. And with that, I must contact more and more people to get on board the + Friends brigade. New Jersey, here we come- Anne The Dutchess of Ballyratshire |

Oh dear! This is just awful! I've just received a transatlantic phone call from Roger. He's in such a state! He reports that Inu-Liger and the Oompa Loompas have gotten into a contract dispute with Jim Beach and for the time being, are out of the +Friends gang! Now that's just not fair as Inu aquiesced immediately to the request to don the official Jim Beach Regulation sunglasses. I know the OLs can be quite a handful, but surely Inu can't be made to pay the price for their silly behavior! And his request regarding the green M&Ms is practically a standard contract rider these days. It would be offensive if Inu's manager DIDN'T include that in his contract. Please, SA, please engage your gracious and most diplomatic skills, powers of persuasion, and inherent charm to right this dreadful situation. If anyone can, you can. |
