A Winter's Tale (Fickle Mix)

Nothing too surprising with this, just a few extended bits here and there, but a nice mix, I think:- link Please leave a comment if you download this! |

Excellent as always! |

Bravo! Improved a bit on an already great song! I like the "new" beginning... I like the quasi-instrumental second verse as well. Here comes the end.....lets see......... Vocal effect wwas pretty cool there. Not overdone. Ooooh, It's Bliss!!! |

Karaoke DVD eh? I wonder why Innuendo has never been Karaoked??? |
| Penis - Vagina 03.08.2005 10:02 |
It's a very nice listen Mr. Lord :) Technically superb. My only criticism would be that the instrumental section seemed to come a bit early and was a bit long.. I was thinking during the final verse that it might have been cool to use the bit after the solo which contains some nice dreamy guitar bits instead, but technically it might be a challenge to come out of it. Still very nice though :) ---- About 'Innuendo': Some answer with "It wouldn't be right" or "Can you imagine trying to sing that?" as if it was out of the question to include it. But 'Headlong' was also excluded and that would have made a very fun karaoke track with its silly lyrics :) It later appeared on 'The Eye' but the mix was so much different. 'Killer Queen' was also excluded. In fact I think that's why "Keep Yourself Alive" was added originally (the original idea was a mirror of Greatest Flix & Greatest Flix II which is why the songs are in that order). Justin Shirley Smith said that they were under major time constraints and remixed these in "about one mix per hour" (link so perhaps technical problems got in the way of including these tracks originally. I can understand a song like Innuendo being so complex that it couldn't be put together as a karaoke in the alloted time. Though the credits in the 2004 karaoke sets indicate that most Miracle, Innuendo and MIH 'karaoke' tracks were ready-made during those sessions, perhaps the very ones Freddie put his final vocal to (edit: except MIH, before someone points out that he did his final vocals early) so maybe they had these already and just didn't want to let all of the 'hits' songs out in this form. All speculation and I apologize for hijacking your thread Lord Fickle :) |
| Suigi 03.08.2005 13:26 |
It's easy to finagle around your own de-vocalized version using a program like DART Karaoke Studio. |
| Lord Fickle 03.08.2005 15:01 |
Suigi wrote: It's easy to finagle around your own de-vocalized version using a program like DART Karaoke Studio.Does that work any better than Audition's vocal removal tools, which I have to say, I have never had very good results with? Without access to the original multi tracks, I have doubts that this could be done very effectively on a home PC. |
| flash00. 03.08.2005 16:20 |
great mix mate, i just adore this song |
| john bodega 04.08.2005 12:43 |
You won't quite get a studio perfect sound in a de-vocalled track. This isn't to say it's unusable. I've heard some neat results, from people who know what they're doing. Unfortunately, that means - Not Me. |
| Penis - Vagina 04.08.2005 13:15 |
I had great results with "It's Late" but I had to edit back in the guitar solo cuz it took that out too. It all depends on the way the song was mixed originally. Results are always going to be different from song to song. I think "Fight From The Inside" comes out fairly good too, but there's a real instrumental on 'The Eye' anyway so it's pointless. |
| Zander05 04.08.2005 17:26 |
*listening* Oooh! Pretty! I gotta say I'm lovin' this. Might make its way to favourite remix! Why didn't they call you when it came time to do the 1991 bonus remixes???? |
| Lord Fickle 04.08.2005 18:26 |
Zander05 wrote: Why didn't they call you when it came time to do the 1991 bonus remixes????Yeah, that would have been fun! |
| john bodega 05.08.2005 11:07 |
I'm glad they didn't call me. I was five at the time. Dunno how old Fickle would've been though.. Hehe. |
| Adam Baboolal 05.08.2005 11:32 |
The only part I didn't like was the, "it's a_ll so beau_tiful." I would've switched that delay in and out a few times to avoid certain plosives. Would probably have softened the delay as well (using the cutoff frequency section, btw!). Otherwise, pretty cool. Peace, Adam. |
| Daniel vZ 05.08.2005 11:35 |
Lol, I had the same thing, that was the only thing I didn't like about the mix either, but the rest is really good :) |
| Lord Fickle 05.08.2005 13:01 |
Ohh, you guys!! I LIKE delay!! ;) ;) |
| john bodega 06.08.2005 00:02 |
Delay rocks! Well I think so. You have to be so careful with it though. Generally it only works in a song that it's intended for in the first place. |
| RaffoMiles 08.08.2005 12:59 |
Great mix between the instrumental and the original version! Very good work. Can you e-mail me Lord Fickle? piccopasticcio@yahoo.it |
| Bijou in Queen's crown 09.08.2005 16:47 |
I like the instrumental part and it's my favourite song anyway and this is good. |
| john bodega 13.08.2005 01:45 |
Hey Adam, I liked your version of this song too. |
| Adam Baboolal 13.08.2005 09:43 |
I haven't remixed this one. Peace, Adam. |
| john bodega 13.08.2005 10:42 |
Erm, I mean the one on the Stage of Champions, it has your name on it (so unless you put it up for someone else, it's you?) :D |
| Adam Baboolal 13.08.2005 10:51 |
OH! Gotcha. Yeah, I covered that in... *gasps* 2001. Can't believe it's been that long. Ah well, it was only a demo version. Still, it's not bad, except the backing vox. They're from when I first started playing and singing. Not the best. Peace, Adam. |
| john bodega 13.08.2005 12:31 |
Heh it's pretty good. It shits on anything I've ever sung (I'm more a guitarist). |
| PainPleasure 28.08.2005 13:58 |
Good one bro. Few changes that are fun to listen to!! |

nunocalhoun wrote: hola i am feel like so people look at me as i am a pirate :( this is of corse make me sadPerhaps it's because you are asking for tracks which ONLY appear on the DVD. Why don't you do some of the songs on the Karaoke CDs, which you said you already have? We all want things we can't afford - sometimes we just have to make do. :) |
| andreas_mercury 10.10.2005 12:28 |
hola yes it is i ask only of dvd tracks, because i do not have dvd :P no you make good point mr. fickle and i thankyou for lissening to me. bascally, i am not to sing all of the songs on the cd only some few of them like - tie your mother down somebody to love crazy little thing called love play the game a few of others. i wanted a winters tale and iwas born to love you, to make it a nice neat ten songs, and of all mine QUEEN songs i heard, they are my favorites. i was stupid i thought the 2 song were on the cd but they only on dvd and only found that out after the cd came in mail. parents wont help me out. they dont understand QUEEN i think! but its not to be :( i thank you for reading anyway, and only hope i can get songs from one person before the weekend. i keep typing, i am out of money and out of time but is bad luck to suppose :( any someone else? nuno.calhoun@gmail.com thankyou and have fun mixing! |
| such_a_jollification 01.11.2005 04:39 |
Having finally finished downloading all your mixes I just wanted to say how wonderful I think they all are. They offer something different and yet remain faithful to the original song. Can't wait to hear more! |

Crikey, this is a blast from the past! Very spookily, I was only listening to this the other day on my iPod, for the first time in at least a year. I'll find the original file when I get a minute, and upload it. |

OK. I'm in the middle of decorating my entire flat at the moment, and haven't got access to all of my hard drives, but I'll look into this as soon as I can get around to it. |

| Lord Fickle 14.06.2014 03:41 |
There isn't a CD. They are all individual files, so you'd have to make your own CD. Sorry, I've been really busy and I just haven't had time for this, but will get onto it soon. |

I see that 19 people have downloaded AWT, and only one comment? Sadly, this is one of the reasons I don't really do this any more - too much effort for people who can't even be bothered to say thanks. :( |
