The latest from the Fickle Factory! link No effects (well, just a couple), but an extended (7:14) mix between the MIH and instrumental versions. I am really pleased with this - hope you enjoy it, and please post a comment! |

Quite nice and enjoyable, though, as with any extended remix, tends to go on for a while. However, I enjoy this song in its original state, so this isn't too much of a problem with me! Must say, though, that you and Dan are both providing excellent remixes - your efforts certainly don't go unnoticed. |
Suigi 31.07.2005 20:41 |
I dig this! Good job! *but when you're dealing with such a long song, ya might wanna decrease the bitrate a teense* |
dieg1982 31.07.2005 23:35 |
lord fickle , you are a really genius!!! |
Penis - Vagina 01.08.2005 00:53 |
Nicely done :) I have to admit when it gets to the instrumental 2nd verse, I started to feel a bit of repetitiveness fatigue, but it passed quickly. Overall you have excellent ideas and choose unique transition points. Technically of course, you're superb :) |

Thanks for the comments! |

Lord Fickle Your HOT I was Born to Love Your Mixes!!! Can you Mix 'Now I'm Here' with the David Palmer Orchestra's Now I'm Here? I think it would sound nice! I would If I could Once again I enjoy your Mixes |
Lord Fickle 01.08.2005 14:26 |
Sorry, I don't have the David Palmer Orchestra version. I did IWBTLY because I had it in mind anyway, but I don't want to encorage people to post requests. Often I won't do them, simply because I don't like the track, and I don't want to upset anyone by refusing to do a mix for them. Also, my time is quite limited, and I don't want a list to build up! Hope that's fair. |
Ale_Pisa 11.08.2005 21:26 |
GREAT! Who here know the date of the release of the Queen album called The Fickle Mix? :) |
john bodega 12.08.2005 08:48 |
Hey uh, I've got this violin version of IWBTLY. Where the heck is it from?? |
Adam Baboolal 12.08.2005 13:01 |
Could you post that for us to hear, Z? Peace, Adam. |
john bodega 13.08.2005 01:43 |
link I'm fully aware that this is probably official material of some sort, and will delete it once you guys have had a chance to tell me what it is :D |
Lord Fickle 13.08.2005 03:24 |
Sounds like one of those "Joe Bloggs Orchestra plays Queen" jobs, but can't say where it came from. Don't think it would integrate to well into a remix lol! |
Adam Baboolal 13.08.2005 09:41 |
A very crude mix here... link Some mistakes, horrible artifacts, timings, etc. All I could do in the time as I have some clients coming round. Doh! But it does what it says on the tin. Fred and that orchestra. If I'd used that Melodyne program it would've sounded a hell of a lot better. Shame I still haven't gotten round to learning it! If I do learn it, I'll update this mix with a proper release. Peace, Adam. |
Penis - Vagina 13.08.2005 10:15 |
Interesting. The first thing I thought though was that the violin version could go on top of an instrumental part in an extended version to give it something new... |
john bodega 13.08.2005 10:41 |
link This was a very unfortunate thing. Basically I think it's a really good idea that will NEVER work unless someone were to actually take isolated vocals and place them on a new backing track. Basically, I've always thought One Year of Love would work as a faster song, but because of the vastly different pitch, there's no real way to match the two songs and make it sound good. I can HEAR it in my head though, this is a good idea. But unless your name is Brian Harold May, there's no way to make it *really* work. Sad really. |
Adam Baboolal 13.08.2005 10:55 |
Zeb, you just created the idea for a new remix! Nice one. Yup, it's kinda possible. But only if Audition's center channel extractor can give us Freddie's vox without any trouble. That software I mentioned, Melodyne, would be able to pitch and time stretch things REALLY WELL. That mix you came up with, could work. I'm sure we'll all look into this for you. Peace, Adam. |
john bodega 13.08.2005 12:30 |
Heh well it's a bit beyond my abilities really. I don't actually have an instrumental of IWBTLY (I snagged a bit out of Fickle's remix HAHA!) and I didn't bother trying to isolate Fred's vocal. (though I did try to eliminate some of the karaoke machine-style clicks in the OYOL track). It really is a good idea, I mean I would've had it a bit slower but the app I used has a bad way of tempo adjustment. Feel absolutely free to use it as a launchpad - I would give my left kidney to hear someone do this idea some justice. |

I'm trying to find the violin mix thing Zeb posted a while back. It was one of the things I lost in the hard disk crash. link Not available now, but could someone repost it for me? Peace, Adam. |

some ive not , i know bad lad , you guys put these grt mixes for evryone , and only get a few comments , but i have with most ( i think ) , |
Lord Fickle 19.02.2006 16:57 |
Tut tut! Well, thanks for the comments you have made. Nothing personal, as this concerns a lot more people than you, but it's only common courtesy. You take something for nothing, which someone else has put hours of work into. I don't think it's too much to expect at least a "Thanks" from EVERYONE who downloads. |
Adam Baboolal 19.02.2006 17:09 |
I have the fan mix I made that was called "crude". But are you sure you have JUST the violin mix Zeb posted? That's all I'm looking for. Peace, Adam. |
john bodega 19.02.2006 20:59 |
Basically, I've got this mp3 off Limewire. It is a string section (maybe sampled?) that performs most parts of the song (in a different key, and sections don't repeat as much). I'll upload it later (gotta go to TAFE now) so you can hear what I mean. If it turns out to be official I can always wipe it. |
john bodega 19.02.2006 21:01 |
The only other thing I've posted here was a mix of IWBTLY and One Year of Love. :D |
Adam Baboolal 19.02.2006 22:06 |
Spot on, Zeb. The former being exactly what I'm looking for. I remember you posting it because you wanted someone to see if an IWBTLY mix with Freddie and the orchestra would be possible. I did a crude mix and left it at that. However, in the wake of the hard disk crash, I found my crude mix and thought it'd be nice to try redoing it inside Melodyne, since I had mentioned in this thread that it would sound better. I'm quite interested to see what would happen. Melodyne has certainly proven to be a cool tool in the studio as of late! Peace, Adam. |
john bodega 19.02.2006 22:41 |
TAFE can wait... heheh. Anyway, here's the string thing: link I haven't actually had a shot at throwing this onto I Was Born To Love You yet, I'd like to but just haven't had time. |
Adam Baboolal 20.02.2006 00:15 |
Fantastic! I'll try this out tomorrow and hopefully post the result. Peace, Adam. |
john bodega 20.02.2006 08:14 |
Glad to help! We await with baited... er, ears? :D |

If it's not too much trouble could someone e-mail me it? Thanks |
john bodega 21.02.2006 08:38 |
Aye. I've sent it (here's hoping 10 other people didn't send it as well. Now that'd be embarrassing). |
john bodega 21.02.2006 09:18 |
link This *sucks* but it's all I could do in literally five minutes :D I eagerly await a superior version from someone who can put the proper effort into it. |
Daniel vZ 21.02.2006 10:15 |
wow, where did you get the vocal-only part?? |
father to my son 21.02.2006 11:51 |
this is great , should it be a minute long ? , thanks for posting |
john bodega 21.02.2006 12:15 |
The vocal only part is actually vocals + piano, and it's on the Freddie Mercury Solo Collection. As for whether or not I bought it, of course I did. Really. :D |
Adam Baboolal 21.02.2006 13:31 |
Here's the old crude mix I did - link The old link seems to have gone down. I'll really try and do a version with the new stuff soon. Unfortunately, I'm getting a bit busy with my theatre dvd at the mo. Hopefully be done soon. Peace, Adam. |
