Realise this may be a trivial post, but was wandering if anyone knows the origin of the chants?
That is, is it a sample from outside the Queen-camp or simply the four band members chanting?
I find it sounds so far from their usual multi-layered harmonised vocal-backing parts, that to me it does not sound like them - hard to tell but I find it an interesting (and likeable) feature to the song.
Also does anyone have any more info. on the song itself - perhaps Roger's thoughts or inspirations for it.
To me it seems like "Don't try so hard", "Ride The Wild Wind" and "I can't Live With You" are three distinct songs on Innuendo that lie outside anything Queen had ever done before and have an entirely different feel to them.
Would be interested to hear other Queenzoner's thoughts. Thanks.
i think it's fairly typical of the stuff he was doing with the Cross at that time...
the hey-hey-hey!!! bit definitely fits into Shove It/MB&DTK albums - as does the whole song itself
RTWW is one of my favourite songs on Innuendo. Many fans don't like it, but I think it's a great song and would be great live.
I think it is them singing the hey bits, but yes, a little different, but that's why we like the band, isn't it, 'cause they are different
I thought it was rubbish the first time I heard it. I've grown to absolutely love the song since then, it's full of energy. I love hearing Roger sing it live too.
The 'hey-hey-hey's remind me a tiny bit of We Will Rock You (in which, not just Queen were singing but just about everybody they could lay hands to - also, Teo Torriate?). I suppose it's not unreasonable to assume they'd bring in big clumps of other peoples to help populate the sound?
I Can't Live With You, sounds a lot more like Queen in the 1997 version with the heavier drums and orchestrated guitar stuff.
I think the "Hey" is a sample they got from somewhere else. I'm fairly certain I heard that exact same sample in my tracking days. For those interested, check out Purple Motion's SecondReality, I believe it has that sample:

I was in the car with my mum listening to the innuendo album and I can't live with you was playing, and my mum started going crazy saying i should change the track cause that song was soooo bad, and that it was the worst song ever written.
It's strange thought cause she is such a big queen fan and she can even play Bohemian Rhaposdy on the piano.
I love 'I can't live with you'.....
It hurt people......it hurt lol
Hi there, and thanks everyone for your information on this song, it's well appreciated!
Also andylamb_38, I'm with you I think Can't Live Without You is an amazing song, and especially love the part where Freddie goes off on one improvising vocally in the ending section. I also think Fred's voice is especially good in throughout and was also pleased when Bri and Rog did the Rocks re-take.
Any comments on Don't try so Hard? I seem to remember that it's one of John's songs? A member who I always seem to think comes up with unusual and great songs that stand away from the general feel of the rest of the album (e.g. Who needs you, and seven days).
