D'you think? I'll be myslef disappointed from my point of view if it does and they paly the things I wanted them to play in Europe, but... I guess I'll be happy for you :) Saying this- the show rocks anyway as you'll guys finally experience :) D'you think they'll dig out more 70s tracks? More Bad Company gems (Shooting Star?) maybe? |
Shay 29.07.2005 03:47 |
I think they'll change up at least a few songs. I think they'll put a couple more Bad Company songs in the set like "Shooting Star" and "Rock & Roll Fantasy" These were the two big crowd sing-alongs when I saw Bad Company. |
Shane Jazz 29.07.2005 04:20 |
Absolutely, I also believe Rock n' Roll Fantasy will be played, perhaps even the song Bad Company itself. I can't see such songs as A Kind of Magic and These are the Days of Our Lives, that made no impact in America, being played. Unfortunate really, because I would love to hear these songs live. But songs such as Somebody to Love and Killer Queen, which are more recognizable in the States, might see the light of day. |
Fone Bone 29.07.2005 06:14 |
I don't think they're gonna change the setlist dramatically now, especially for just a few more shows. The odd Paul Rodgers song might be added, but the Queen songs will remain the same, surely enough. It's true that the songs from the 80's and 90's are less famous over there, but then that's the point of the US tour, to play these songs to an American audience for the first time (IWTBF, RGG, TSMGO etc.)So I don't expect a NOTW Tour Selist LOL As for the Freddie songs, undoubtedly the best Queen ever had (Killer Queen, STL, GOFLB, In the lap of the gods, lily, innuendo, there are so many), it was obvious from the start that this tour was not about them. We got Bo Rhap, CLTCL, WATC and LOML, which is incredibly few, and yet better than nothing. Indeed, Brian, great as he is, probably sees this tour as his "Queen takeover" : releasing TYMD and FBG as a double a side is a sign of this, not releasing Under Pressure in order to avoid paying Bowie royalties is another. And yet I'm not complaining : this is probably the best time to be a Queen fan since Innuendo ; I don't mind leaving behind the 5ive collaborations and World's Apart post mortem duos w. Freddie !!! |
wstüssyb 29.07.2005 06:56 |
Maybe they will put in body language, you know how much Brian loves to play that song live! oh and don't forget Dragon attack, that has a killer guitar solo in it! |

Mr.Jingles 29.07.2005 08:53 |
Being the fact that Queen lost a lot of popularity in the States in the 80s, I'd figure they'd drop some of the hits like 'A Kind Of Magic', 'I Want To Break Free', and 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives'. I'm hoping though that they keep 'Radio Ga-Ga', 'Hammer To Fall', 'I Want It All', and 'The Show Must Go On'. I think it would KICK ASS if they included 'It's Late', 'Now I'm Here' and 'One Vision' on the setlist. |
Erin 29.07.2005 08:56 |
I'd crap my pants if they did "It's Late." Just a warning..;-) |
Adam Unger (QueenVault.com) 29.07.2005 09:06 |
I think it would be tempting for them to play a lot of post 1982 material, just because it has never been played here. Oh, and shooting star would be excellent. |

Eh eh, well in Paris (so it was the beginning of the tour, and the rolling setlist was still a reasonable dream), I really thought they were gonna do Headlong ! (which was so great in 93, BTW) But of course it was the White Man / FBG routine. And when Paul started fooling around with Somebody To Love at the beginning of Little Bit Of Love, I almost hoped for a bold medley :-) As for the songs they're supposed to have played during soudnchecks (Seven Seas, One Vision, Now i'm Here, Dragon Attack, The Miracle (!?)), was it fan fiction or fact ? Anyone knows for sure ? |
Fenderek 29.07.2005 09:42 |
Now I'm Hee was def palyed during soundchecks in Holland. Few ppl claimed they heard Seven Seas- and few lines from Brian's Another World. One vision was as well mentioned few times... THAN few ppl saw track queues on the screens at the outdoor gigs and there was Is This The World We Created? and Sleeping On THe Sidewalk... Especially the last one would have been a nice surprise... I myslef was really surprised Long Away was played only twice- nice version that was! Miracle was I think fiction. Before Brixton someone was claiming they rehearsed Hitman and Breakthru...- nd that was utter shite... Paul before the tour was mentioning INNUENDO... |
MercuryArts 29.07.2005 09:52 |
I am hoping they change up a few songs. I believed they would til I read Fish Bone's post. I have to agree w/ alot of what you said. This is only a 2 show performance. I won't call this a US Tour, its not. Then they are off to Japan where everthing from the 80's & 90's was popular. So the European Tour set list works perfectly. I don't think they will change many songs just for two gigs. Having said that, I do hope they drop Radio, IWTBF, Magic, along w/ TATDOOL, & add in a few Bad Co. songs. Fantast & Shooting Star should most definately be in the set. As well as the song Bad Co. I still say Silver, Blue & Gold would work great. the rest of the set will work. Now I'm Here would be better to hear than HTF. |

Now that would have been brave ! But it was certainly too much work, and not only for Paul, after all Bri & Rog played this one only once. And they had a 2 hour show to set up. This is not the kind of song you can decide to perform overnight, unlike AOBTD and UP, which might have been "steps in the dark", but have been performed quite a few times before. A shame, though, as innuendo is in my top 5 songs ever. Maybe if the QPR collaboration continues ? |

Queen is far better than Elvis. We need to see the guys play Queen songs. I mean, is not like they don't have enough live material. |
Fenderek 29.07.2005 11:44 |
If they have to cover anything- let it be Hendrix... anyway- such a huge catalogue of Queen / Free / Bad company stuff... They don't need covers :) They did one in Hyde Park- it was SPECIAL... |
Fone Bone 29.07.2005 11:57 |
Actually when I mentioned Elvis I was thinkin of the whole tour his former band did with videos of elvis, so basically the same concept as Bo Rhap on this tour. Naturally having a real singer on stage, especially the very capable Paul Rodgers, is much better. With hindsight I really admire him. First it was a very brave thing to do, tackling all these legendary songs that weren't his. And then he's a really good singer, even though he doesn't sound a bit like Freddie. I mean listen to the upcoming American tribute : even with Pro Tools most of the singers make fools of themselves. |

I would also like to hear Innuendo added to the show, and more of the 70's songs, especially a few that I never heard them play live before: Stone Cold Crazy, Ogre Battle, It's Late, and Brighton Rock (I did hear them play part of it once, but I want to hear the whole thing). I don't have any serious hopes for hearing any of these, but it doesn't hurt to wish. I would be happy with Now I'm Here if they have truly been playing it in sound-checks. I saw Paul Rodgers with Bad Company just a few years ago, and I would enjoy hearing some of those songs again, but I haven't seen Queen in 23 years and that's the music I really want to hear this time. If they add more Bad Company songs, I hope it's not at the expense of Queen tunes. |

It's going to be the same setlist that's been going on. Maybe a different PR song for the Wishing Well slot like Movin' On or Rock N' Roll Fantasy. The DVD is going to be released a mere few days after Hollywood. I just can't see them changing the set in anticipation of it being released. But if they do a big US tour I anticipate several changes. :) |

I think the set list will probably remain the same for the two shows in October, with perhaps a different Paul Rodgers song throw in Shooting Star, Rock N Roll Fantasy. However if they are to return for a fullscale tour as planned I would expect more 70s material to be played Somebody to Love, Now I'm Here ect. I expect they will test out the current set list and see what works. I also wouldn't be surprised If Paul sings the complete songs of Radio GA GA and Hammer To Fall. The American Audience will not act to kindly to Roger singing up front and playing to a backing track, it just doesn't work. |

If I hear them play Man On Fire, I'll probably go freaking nuts. They are definitely going for the jukebox stuff here, nothing really exotic. My biggest thrills as far as unexpected stuff, was when Brian and Roger do Under Pressure, and when Brian did Long Away on, like, one gig. Maybe they'll do Under Pressure in the US? I do think they will add one or two Paul Rodgers songs and that will be it. I think as a matter or principle almost, they should play the shit out of some of those ignored 80s songs. They should do Tear It Up!!! |

Another One Bites The Dust is Queen's best selling single ever in the US so they're bound to play it IMHO. It's probably instantly recognisable in North America as it was a massive "cross over" hit over there!! Bad Company are also very popular in the States and I'm sure that Shooting Star and Rock'n'Roll Fantasy will be played...songs which are more recognisable and popular than in Europe? Other than that, most of the set will be the same but previous Queen tours to the US have shown that different songs are played there and not in Europe. Now I'm Here might make an appearance and would make a good show opener!!. They might decide to play it safe or throw caution to the wind and change the set list altogether. We can only wait and see! |
Daniel Nester 01.08.2005 13:21 |
WATC, thank you for reminding me of the exact words Brian exclaimed at that Wembley gig. I'm looking forward to actually seeing them at this concert -- it will be like a homecoming for me, too, since I grew up in New Jersey. I can't help thinking it's something cosmic. Spent my entire life running away from New Jersey, and now I go there to see Queen. (Like Pacino in Godfather III: "They keep dragging me back in!) |

ye .. they where kinda lazy at the european tour with changing the setlist .. this won't be any different at the rest of the world tour, I gues... |

I'd love to see a couple changes, maybe an older song from when Queen was at their most popular here, but I'll take what I get! When I first got into the band a few years ago, I never thought I'd get to see them in any incarnation, and even when they started the tour, I always had a feeling they'd forget the US again, so it's amazing even if they do just stick to We Will Rock You and Radio Ga Ga! |

Especially Radio was awesome .. really! I always thought that the studio version was well.. not very special. The '86 version was pretty cool .. but after the last tour I really love that song! WWRY is ALWAYS cool (naah .. the Britney/Pink/Beyonce version sucks.. that's true ;) ) and it is one of those songs that has to be a part of EVERY Queen-show! |

My big fear about the US dates is that they will back off on using Brian and Roger as lead vocals as much as they do. I hope they continue on singing as much(or better yet more) as they did in Europe. |

Oh... And I will bet Now I'm Here makes it into the set list. |

That way Bri & Rog could sing all the songs! :P |
