I actually think that US promoters probably want scalpers to get tickets. Makes it appear the concerts are selling fast, possibly creating hype and generating more interest. If it sells fast they will get some publicity from that. |

Then if they don't sell by the last week, they release these seats again. I have a friend who is in Kiss's fan club and he did the whole presale thing and ended up with 10th row seats, which is not bad. I also expect that it will be posted on signs trailing behind planes flying around all of the beach areas in the US this afternoon, and we will see it on the sides of buses and all over billboards as we drive home from work tonight. It will also be broadcast on all the major network news reports this evening, and just in case anyone missed it, it will also be released on Larry King Live, and Nightline. YourValentine 27.07.2005 14:47 |
Actually, you don't pay fan club membership for ticket privileges. The fan club is a private organisation and it's all owed to Jacky's effort that she does get such presale privileges for her members. You cannot expect that the record company steps back in favour of the fan club. Jacky is the last person who should be blamed. People who are well informed by the internet will definitely get a ticket, there is no need to panic. This whole presale ist just another hype to create a demand that might not be there without presales. Just relax and buy your tickets. |
PieterMC 27.07.2005 14:54 |
I think the main problem is that in the US tickets are snapped up very fast by ticket touts and other ticket resellers. That is why people are so upset. The problem is SO much worse in the US than it is in Europe. It can be VERY hard for an ordinary fan to get decent seats, since virtually no concerts here are general admission. |
YourValentine 27.07.2005 15:21 |
I did not know that, I hear a lot about concerts not selling out and artists actually lowering the prices in the USA. I just hope that you all get tickets and enjoy the show. |
PieterMC 27.07.2005 15:28 |
On some of the websites for ticket resellers over here I have seen them charging $170+ for tickets to a Queen tribute band. Perhaps lessor known acts are lowering prices but bigger acts are still expensive to go and see. |
Haystacks Calhoun 27.07.2005 16:25 |
This is, without a doubt, the single biggest cluster fuck that I have seen. So much for the "double secret" password. I nearly came out of my chair when I recieved the e-mail today from QOL. That said, just having corresponded with Jacky YESTERDAY, renewing my QFC membership YESTERDAY, only to find out that every ticket broker from here to Timbuktu is gonna be right there with me, picking up the best seats. I had thought that the sole reason that fan club members were getting the chance to buy Thursday was to eliminate this problem. I guess I was wrong, and I guess I wasted $30. What a load of steaming bullshit..... |

Tero 28.07.2005 02:19 |
You have to admit, it's a nice way for the band and organisers to guarantee they make a profit... The Hollywood tickets are priced from $37 to $200, yet the presale tickets are starting at $150. Whether the buyers are touts or the few genuine fans rushing to get in, the presale tickets alone will cover the costs of the concert. The downside of course is that QPR could very well end up playing to 5,000 people in the audience. :P |

Daniel Nester 28.07.2005 11:42 |
I would say to anyone who wants to see Queen should see the NJ or Cali gig. My gut feeling is that unless these gigs have a huge buzz about them, Q+PR just won't do a tour in the Spring. I know this sounds negative. But it seems if the Q+PR people can't seem to see the benefit or glory of booking small gigs that will fill up, and choosing an NJ chickenshack hockey arena over, say, a 3-night stand at the Beacon Theatre, and along with it all the New York City buzz, for one example, it's up to the fans to make it happen. The more I think about it, the more I hope these shows might be successful. As long as, that is, if US fans make that pilgrimage to one of these shows. No more complaining about distance of travel or any of that crap. I'm already putting up three people from Indiana, and I'll be in Albany, NY! I would urge Queeniacs near either of these venues to open their homes, let people from far away into their homes for these gigs, and make it happen. When my wife and I flew over to the UK for a vacation and we saw that famously bad Wembley show, I witnessed so many UK fans putting up, like, Austrian fans, Belgian fans, Swedish fans. Surely if you live in the Northeast or California, you can put up your fellow Queen fan from Milwaukee or whatnot? And how about carpooling? Anyway, this is all to say, we should all go to these shows. No promises of there being more, for one. And these are the first shows on North American soil since 1982! Hell, since 1992 if you could Brian's US tour! Love, D |

I know it's an old one, but the worst part of all is that it seems like nobody has even bothered trying to re-model it. The Radio City is also old, but remains top-class when it comes to small venues. |
Daniel Nester 28.07.2005 14:20 |
Yeah, I guess I just thought the Beacon because that's where Brian played in New York. Radio City would be grand -- imagine their name on that classic deco marquee (if it is the original design, that is!). They would tear that place up. |

So, let me get this straight... According to my knowledge, there was a European tour with 32 dates, and no package deal for US fans to see the shows. There are now two US shows, and there are three choices of package deals for European fans to come here. Hmmmmmmm.................. Your thoughts? |

Oh, Sir GH, believe you me, I have thought the same thing. Another thing is that North America, last time I looked on the map, is about twice as big as Europe, twice as many people abouts, and putting together a package deal for American fans for these shows would have been pretty great. What could it have taken? I dunno, a travel agent? It's kind of a culture clash thing. No matter how you dice it, UK people are Europeans, not Americans with funny accents :). They get pretty good vacations, they can plan these things a couple months ahead of times. We American Joe Shmoes, most of use are, like, temping or working 52-weeks a year. We gotta put our own packages together! (Insert Battle Hymn of the Republic here, I spose.) Still, a little sumpin-sumpin from the powers-that-be would make for something.... |

Y'know . . . there might be more actual FC members in the UK. Regardless, many of us put together our own UK tours--I ran into people from Australia who were there for the Queen gigs. People came in from all over. What would be cool is for North American FC people to get together with the UK FC people. I'm tellin' ya, those people know how to have a good time. Anybody up for getting a group together to host something with them? Even if it's just the Meadowlands Tailgate Party . . . |

About this tailgate party.. Who is actually going to have a car with them? ;-) |

Oh, I think it would be great to have the UK people out in the parking lot, man. Lord knows they were doing their own version of tailgating at the Wembley show. The logistics shouldn't be too hard. link That's a link about tailgating at the CAA. So it's, like, legal and all. And here's a map of the parking lots: link We could all basically pick a parking lot and meet there. Oh, and Ladies. Here's a quote: "Port-o-sans are located throughout the parking lots." Rest easy, those who cannot wee outside! |
