I was just searching through windowsmedia.com and found a track called ''Let's Turn It on With Sideburns'' that is Freddie & Brian. It says that is from BOTH Brian's site, (but I can't find it anywhere on Brian's site) and an earthlink site. There is no information on this. I have no idea what and where it's from. It's excellent. Sounds like it's from like 1990 or 91 from the sound & direction that it takes, as it has a ''headlong'' vibe to it and I mean it rocks big time. Can anybody tell me all the information about this song? 1) Is it on any album? 2) Why can't I find it on Brian's site? 3) When was it recorded? 4) Who wrote it? Here is the page I found it on. link ...Also, if you scroll down the page, what's up with that ''New York'' demo by Freddie too? I listened to that. I don't recall that being on the FM box set. |

This is remix of 'Let's Turn It On' (Freddie's solo track from 'Mr Bad Guy' album) and Brian's 'Sideburns' (Brian plays guitar, Justin Shirley-Smith - programmed drums). 'New York' is on Freddie's solo box set (CD Rarities 1 - The Mr Bad Guy Sessions). And you can save the track - click right button on the title and choose "Save as...". |

I am on a Library PC and it has no capability for doing all this music/video tech stuff...They put BLOCKS on the computers. This week aol.com converted the entire Live 8 broadcast, which is free for another 4 weeks to a new progtam called aol media player. I can no longer watch Live 8 because aol.com converted the entire broadcast to something called an aol media player..that when I click on it...it says the Library PC ''settings'' won't allow that program to be loaded. ....Also, what album of Brian's is ''Sideburns'' from. I can't find it on any of his, and, ....when was this remix done? |
Serry... 23.07.2005 16:02 |
'Sideburns' was released on the Guitarist Magazine CD in November 2001. About the remix - I don't know. By the way if you open the site where this track is - you can find some pics of Brian and Roger link |
doremi 23.07.2005 16:12 |
Well this remix is pretty cool. Makes me wonder what it had been like if Freddie had lived to actually record and perform this as it's kind of been spliced together on the remix. I usually hate remixes, but this works quite well and is a real rocker. Guess Freddie sounds so good because his vocals were from 1985. But Brian's guitar really serves Freddie's voice well. They ought to officially release this (or have they already? and if so on what album). But if they haven't released it,... ...jeez, it's certainly better than that remix crap on the Platinum Collection with Wyclef Jean rapping on AOBTD. |

Most of the photos are When Brian & Roger attended the ceremony here in the USA when Queen got their STAR on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. These photos are great. Roger looks much slimmer and very dapper here. Here's the MAIN photo of Queen's star! Yeah! Martin....when you were out in Los Angeles, this is what I was hoping you would see. ( Though it's still great you saw the Duke's) Here's Queen's Star! link |

Here's Brian & Roger holding their plaque framed version of their STAR that they get to keep. I agree. Very proud of Brian, Roger, Freddie, John...as so they all should be (and I'm sure Freddie is up in the stars of Heaven!) link |

Whomever did the remix forgot to make Freddie Voice IN TUNE!!!! Great Idea, I wonder what Lord Fickle could do with that.... But, the first 2 minutes are PAINFUL to listen to, as Freddie's voice is HORRIBLY out of tune with the song..... |
doremi 23.07.2005 17:14 |
Well it sounded decent enough by me. A little tweaking and remastering and proper re-mixing... ..this would be great for release. It Kicks ass. |

I have a piece of software that converts the pitch properly. It's called celemony melodyne. If Fickle wants to try this, I could tell tell him more about the software. Peace, Adam. |
Suigi 24.07.2005 12:49 |
DART Karaoke Studio does the same thing, with its Pitch Up/Down utility. Then again, Celemony's product does seem to be the best. |

This remix is an excellent idea, as I really don't like Let's Turn it On - it makes the song really rock out. BUT why the hell didn't they make the two songs the same pitch? This is professionally done, right? However, it's such a great idea I almost don't mind the key problems. Note - it's not Freddie's fault, he's in key - with himself. The two songs just haven't been corrected to fit each other. |
Adam Baboolal 24.07.2005 16:15 |
The actual files used are: Guitarist demo to show off what can be done with the Burns model. It's NOT an unreleased song. You can find it on either back issue or ebay. The LTIO song is from the FM boxset and it's an acapella vocal without any backing. The key of the two songs can be made to fit together with that above software I mentioned. Peace, Adam. EDIT: They are similarly pitched. It's just, as has already been said, not the same key. They don't follow the same scale of notes and the person who made the edit ignored this. |

Questions: 1) So is someone going to correct the pitch and correct this remix, and let us know so we can hear it? 2) Who did this original re-mix in the first place? 3) Music is my great love, but I don't play, read or write music, so it's difficult for me to understand this..but HOW does a person (as in this case whoever did the re-mix), ... ...KNOW that 2 different songs..can be sequenced and spliced together..and WORK, to sound like they were meant to be written as both the lyrics and the instrumental part of ONE song? |
Adam Baboolal 25.07.2005 13:44 |
I might give it a try once I figure out that software I mentioned. We'll just have to wait and see... Peace, Adam. |
djaef 25.07.2005 23:07 |
Please do Adam. This is one of the most interesting remixes I've ever heard. I love the guitar track and it fits really well with Freddie's lyric. Can't imagine how really, as they are just contrasting styles (maybe that's why). The pitch problems didn't bother me too much, but I would really like to hear it corrected. |
john bodega 26.07.2005 10:40 |
It's an excellent idea, if I had the FM boxset I'd most certainly be doing stuff like this with the acapella tracks. To answer the question: "how does one know if a song will fit with another?" I don't have a diploma, but I play guitar every day so I know the important stuff (just none of the words for it). Basically, a song will have a given key that it sticks to most of the time (I'm really generalising). The idea is to get two songs in the same key. For example, let's pick some Queen songs in D: Don't Try Suicide, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, It's a Beautiful Day, Headlong, Fat Bottomed Girls. These songs (ok, they're vastly different styles but bear with me) are based on basically the same chord. I guess I was write, I can't explain this in words. But yeah. Finally - I actually really don't like "Let's Turn it On". But his vocals are great (as usual) and it's great to hear them on a rockin' background instead of that poncy DEMO BUTTON instrumental. |
*goodco* 26.07.2005 11:40 |
An even better unreleased Brian track is 'Fat Bottomed Prize'. Terrific medley. oy |

Great...Adam..please let us know if and when you do this. I'd love to hear it. Thanks! :) |

Hey everybody, I was a little alarmed a couple of weeks ago when Earthlink sent me an email saying that I had used up the allotted 1 Gig of traffic for my free website! (I usually get about 9 hits a month.) A google search led me here. I made the remix in 2001, put it up on the web and kinda forgot about it. I've read the discussions here and am in the process of correcting the key problem. (A harder problem then you'd think. You simply can't change Freddie's voice without him sounding like a chimpmunk.) I'll have the new version up by the weekend, hopefully. -Jon |

When you correct it, can you post it as a windows media version mp3 so I can listen to it. I don't have my own computer and the only way the pc I use will let me listen to it is on regular windows mp3 like it is on the link I posted in my first post. Thanks! |

Yeah, I'm sorry about losing the star ceremony. Earthlink must have changed their limits on how much space you can have on your web page. I think it was 10 meg before, but when I tried to upload the new mix, it said I went over my 6 meg limit. So I had to lose some pictures to make room. I don't have an actual web page. I know nothing about html. What you see at ...cuthbert84 is it. I just put the mix up and linked people directly to it. At some point I'll get rid of that link to the star ceremony.
I'm glad you liked the new mix! That post made my day. (And that *is* the correct mix at the link you provided.)

Jon, that is exceptionally good. Sure there are still some issues with the key of the guitar and vocals, but irregardless, I think it rocks. Definately one of the best fan mixes I've ever heard. You have a real talent there. Have you sent this one to Brian? I think he'd be interested. Good work. |
