Did anyone see it yet? I tagged along with my friend's theatre camp, even though I wasn't technically allowed to. Apparently, it was a private screening for her camp. Luckily no one noticed. And I bought a ticket anyway. I LOVED it! Johnny Depp was so creepy! |
deleted user 15.07.2005 20:51 |
I will probably see it, although it has looked a little over the top from the trailers. My boyfriend is seeing it right about now, so I will get his report about it later on. |
deleted user 15.07.2005 20:54 |
from the commercial when they were going up in the elevator J.D's face looked so goofy, lol, he had this stupid grin on his face and his mouth was partially open like some fool |
Erin 15.07.2005 22:50 |
I saw it tonight. The Oompa-Loopas are really funny. Johnny Depp is super weird, but it's Johnny Depp and Tim Burton..it'd be disappointing if he wasn't, right? I give it "thumbs up!" |
Gunpowder Gelatine 15.07.2005 23:35 |
I'm seeing it tomorrow, even though it'll probably be insane at the theater! |
wstüssyb 16.07.2005 02:12 |
AWESOME!!! I SIMPLY LOVED THIS MOVIE really so funny with the little guy, I love how tim burton did not try to re-make but simply re-create a version in his own taste. It was so good, we just went and got the soundtrack right after the movie, that was a first! and I love the preview to Barnyard...that movie looks to be a classic. |
wstüssyb 16.07.2005 02:13 |
the oppa lumpa is only 1 guy I think. Depp has proved again he is one of the best actors out there |
My Melancholy Blues 16.07.2005 04:49 |
I do envy you who have already seen this movie. I'm impatient to see it. |
Mr.Jingles 16.07.2005 10:24 |
It looks too weird, plus I'm not very fond of Tim Burton movies. They're just too Hollywood. |
dragonzflame 16.07.2005 23:37 |
We don't get it until September :-( |

I saw it and loved it! BUT, I can see where some people won't like it. Anyhow, I'll be sure to own the DVD. :D |

I just saw it last night and I loved it! My mom couldn't believe the Oompa Loompas were just one person. Johnny Depp was perfect for the role...very creepy with even creepier hair! |
FreddiesGhettoTrench 17.07.2005 18:22 |
lol, I thought it was quite good, saw it today. VERY weird but very intriguing and different, too! |

I've heard from several people that it was horrible. |
Yogurt 17.07.2005 22:46 |
I just finished watching it right now! It's not a bad movie. It's a lot like Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Same character names, different people. Willie Wonka is still the one that owns the factory. This time, there are flash backs about Willie's child hood. The Oompa-Loopas are smaller and they sing differently. It was a nice ending though. |
Goo 17.07.2005 23:21 |
I just came back from seeing it, and I loved it! The Oompa Loompa songs were amazing - I am definitely buying the soundtrack. The whole thing was actually very funny, and well done. Really cool. |

<font color=purple>Miss James wrote: I've heard from several people that it was horrible.Same here. I must be one of a handful of people who isn't interested whatsoever in seeing this. Depp just seems creepy and the trailer has him delivering boring and silly one-liners ("You're creepy," etc.), and that sort of thing really turns me off of a movie. Then again, I wasn't the biggest fan of the original; I just don't see why they need to remake it. Can't they come up with, oh I don't know, something on their own? |
Taylor-Mayed 18.07.2005 08:28 |
The book is one of my all-time favourites, so I would't want to see the film which doubtless wouldn't do my imagination of how the book looked justice! ;-) |

I bought a ticket to go see CATCF at the Cineplex Odeon theatre downtown tomorrow, for the matinee performance. Will let you guys know what I think of it after I've seen it! |
KillerQueen840 18.07.2005 19:51 |
I'm going with my friend to see it tomorrow, too! Even though I've never been a big fan of the orignal, but I wanna see if it's really as great as most people are saying it is. |
tupincs 19.07.2005 05:52 |
As I read the title I had another imagination of the choc factory. :) I'm bit bored of Johnny Depp fairy-tales. I understand that he's a full time dad now, but he should play in a normal movie again. |
Yuri 20.07.2005 01:43 |
i saw it today... the scary part was that JOhnny Depp looked like my boyfriend XD the hair, the clothing.. yup. fabulous. I loved the oompa loompas' dances and the squirrels! AAAAH.... yeah... my mom enjoyeds it too. Such a trip. |
inu-liger 20.07.2005 01:49 |
I saw it too, also earlier today! Thought it was great! Nice choice of music, and the movie was very funny. I loved how Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) kept telling that Michael (correct name?) kid how he couldn't understand him because he kept "mumbling". The ending was nice too (won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it's different from the original version of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", that's all I'm going to say!) And the Oompa-Loompa's were awesome! Overall, I think this movie would definitely have to be rated 5 out of 5! |

That movie looks funny. They also had trailers for the second "Ice Age" movie (something 'Meltdown'), and the Wallace and Gromit movie. I'm def. going to go see both those movies! |
KillerQueen840 20.07.2005 11:36 |
I loved it! I think I might go back again (only this time with my familY) and I definately want to buy the soundtrack. I came into the movie assuming that I wasn't going to enjoy it but I was blown away. Definately the best movie I've seen this year. |
Pluto 20.07.2005 12:24 |
Saw it a few days ago with my brother. It was the best movie that I have seen in a long time. i loved Johnnys performance and the think with not being able to say family. LOL! |
KillerQueen840 20.07.2005 12:31 |
"Stop mumbling, I can't understand you!" hehehehe I think I'll hang on to those lines for a while. |

I'm withholding my judgement for "Best movie I've seen all year" until I've seen "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" this November, when it comes out in theatres. Out of all the movies I've seen so far this year (which was only 3), I'd have to say that they were all pretty to really good, or funny even! I saw "Hitch", "Howl's Moving Castle" (dub version), and now "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory", and they were all great! "Hitch" and "Charlie..." would have to be tied as the funniest I've seen all year! |

I loved "Howl's Moving Castle." I didn't know until after the movie that Howl was voiced by Christian Bale (it was the dubbed version, of course). It's weird that the only two cartoon characters I ever had a crush on were both voiced by him. He is also very attractive himself! |
inu-liger 20.07.2005 20:43 |
What was the other, if I may ask? |
SergeantPepperDG 20.07.2005 20:49 |
Well, Howl (obviously- because he was such a pretty boy), and Thomas, from Pochahontas (the loser who shoots Kocoum). I loved his hat. |

Very good movie, Johnny Depp did a excellent job as always. I didn't care for how the umpa lumpas were portrayed or thier songs, and the little boy...the one who was obsessed with TV was brought by his mother in the origioal version. I remember her putting him in her purse after he was shrunk. Other than that I enjoyed the movie, and how they went more in depth to Willy Wonkas Childhood. Made for a good ending. |

This movie was definitely funnier than the original, but the original was better. Wilder was a better Wonka, the original Veruca & Mike were much better actors, and the ending was better as well. I can't quite put my finger on it, but Depp was too crazy and a little irritating. Certainly enjoyable, though. |
agneepath! 11994 03.08.2005 13:19 |
It was good but i prefer the original. Gene wilder made a better Wonka in my opinion. The original was also funnier. The kids and their parents seemed to have little personality in this one. The songs were better on the original and were singalongs. Granddad had no personality too... Overall a touch disappointed. It was enjoyable but should have been better. |
