Who's buying it or getting it this Saturday when it comes out? I certainly am, myself! I just paid for the pre-order at the very last hour (before the bookstore I am getting it at closed for the evening), before the prices go up tomorrow (here in Canada anyways) to normal price. |
wstüssyb 15.07.2005 00:36 |
Gonna wait a few weeks, I planned 2 mini vactaions to chicago for the next 2 weekends anyways. |
Yuri 15.07.2005 01:27 |
i was going to preorder it... then i realized i went on a wild goose chase for the last book and didnt read it till last summer... :-/ I may go to one of the shindigs...my hogwarts uniform needs dusting off |
inu-liger 15.07.2005 01:58 |
Ah, the 5th book! That's the only book that I bought both the Canadian and American versions of! I've read that at least 5 times through! The first time I read it, which began on the Saturday morning it was released (which was incidentally also my ex-girlfriend's birthday), it took me exactly 3-½ days to read it! |
Gunpowder Gelatine 15.07.2005 02:00 |
I ordered it on Amazon about two months ago! :) Now I've got until Saturday to prepare myself for 672 pages... |
inu-liger 15.07.2005 02:25 |
I so badly want the American version of HBP even more than the Canadian version, which is saying a lot! The cover artwork looks much cooler, and I'm sure the chapter illustrations will be just as good, if not better than those in book 5. The Canadian editions feature no chapter illustrations, which sucks |

I'm getting it. The english version :D. I'd love to read it. |
Yuri 15.07.2005 04:28 |

Smitty 15.07.2005 08:03 |
I preordered it online...1 MORE DAY!! |
FriedChicken 15.07.2005 08:16 |

My girlfriend is extremely lucky. She works at Barnes & Noble and she got today off, even though they were going to extend working hours from midnight until 2a.m., and possibly 3a.m. |
inu-liger 15.07.2005 15:38 |
The store I'm getting the book at is located in the City Centre Mall East, and so they won't open until 10 A.M. on Saturday morning, but that's still earlier than what time most of the other stores are opening in that mall (bar the food court downstairs, McDonald's in particular). I envy the webmasters of MuggleNet and The Leaky Cauldron, because they get to interview J.K. Rowling, with 6 winning questions from message board users on both sides having been picked (with two alternates just in case, I think) by website visitors, for the release of the book. |

I still talk to the people there that I used to work with, and still even order food and drinks from there occasionally (usually on Tuesdays, since that's the day when my favourite burger, the Big Mac, is on sale as part of the McDeal of the Day deals) I'm still friends with them. It's just I hold a grudge against the consultant for the particular area that my locations were under. She was the one that ordered my job termination. |

My copy (the adult edition - makes me feel more mature =P) is sitting right next to me... but I'm not reading it.. and for once I'm not gonna flick ahead to the end... |
Gunpowder Gelatine 16.07.2005 04:21 |
I accidentally stumbled across the spoilers online...and I kind of ruined the book completely for myself! I'll read it anyway, though. |

Lat night I was at Barnes and Noble bookstore in the USA just for regular stuff, and there was like an 8 mile line of kids..and adults. So I asked a manager if there was a store book signing and he told me that the Harry potter book was coming out at 12:01 today, and people were getting their tivkets ahead of time. I was in the store til about 9:00pm EST USA, and it was SO cool, all the store clerks,...and the children were dressed in costumes from the films/books..and one little girl had a humongous fake feathered mechanical owl attached to her arm. Really clever and fun. |
wstüssyb 16.07.2005 12:51 |
I went to get the charlie and the chocolate factory soundtrack, right at 12-something last night and the place was just crazy...*sigh* kids... |

I have no soul...mwahahahaha The spoiler will be in a random post |
dragonzflame 16.07.2005 23:36 |
I was well fucked off...after months of studiously avoiding spoilers and not finding out the rumoured death that people were putting such large bets on I bought my copy but first just had to have a look through the current affairs/TV magazine my parents had got that day. What did I find? Yes! The identity of the person rumoured to die! Grrrr. Didn't really ruin the book for me though - I liked it and I was so pleased that Harry isn't as much of a whinger this time round. |
inu-liger 17.07.2005 01:48 |
Well, so far as of this post, I have read 1/3rd of the book already (207 pages), within 12 hours. Not bad. |
Yuri 17.07.2005 01:58 |
oh god... so my friend comes over and asks me if i pre-ordered, then he makes a big deal about going to the book store to do it and i am suckeered into signing him on a list. Then we go get food and come back to wait in the stupid line to get some arm band. I had a dance performance that night, mind you. So we buzz up to my dance and then afterwards i slip into my hogwarts costume and then go bck to the bookstore where all these little kids ask me "ARE YOU A SLYTHERIN?" then my friend proclaims how hes a proud death eater cos its the civil rights movement for witching folk X_X *dies* then we went out to find what was open at 1 in the morning. NOTHING. |
Rockyuk 17.07.2005 07:53 |
Ive finnished. Bloody excellent. But made me sad :( |

dragonzflame wrote: I liked it and I was so pleased that Harry isn't as much of a whinger this time round. No He's just Psychotic instead. He kicks off about everything... I spose he's been through alot, end if book 4 he's attack by voldemort, tortured abit, thinks he's gonna die, see's cedrick die. Then book five, has a cracking time at school, bullied constantly, then siruis dies... gets into more shit seeing fights and gets involved. This time someone else dies that he likes... I think he is gonna start cracking up and going mad. Next book is gonna be called Harry Potter, and The Psychiatric ward. |
deleted user 17.07.2005 13:50 |
The book is great. I think it is rather sad though but no spoilers from me. I must be a book friek because I got it at 6:30 yesterday and finished it at 12:00 this morning. My book rating ***** |
DudleyFufkin 17.07.2005 15:00 |
Oh, this is the last book cos harry dies. oops. sorry folks. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 17.07.2005 15:37 |
I got it yesterday and I'm about halfway through...but I couldn't resist reading the spoilers so I completley ruined it for myself before the book even came in the mail! |
-fatty- 2850 17.07.2005 16:25 |
I took my daughter to Edinburgh Castle for the launch on Thursday night. We were in the stands and got to see the competition winners arrive in coaches then JK Rowling turned up in a big car. If you saw the programme on ITV you might have caught a glimpse of a fat bald guy sulking in the crowd because his eight year old daughter wouldn't let him go home before the end. That was me. fatty |

I finnished it the day I got it aswell. I thought it had a sad ending. And was mainly building up for the next book. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 18.07.2005 04:03 |
I just finished it a few minutes ago. The ending was so sad and like Rockyuk said, this boo definitely sets you up for the next one.. I'm definitely going to have to reread this one before the last book comes out, though! |
Rockyuk 18.07.2005 07:20 |
Anyone else think it had quite a fast pace to it? Everything happening at once? |
Gunpowder Gelatine 18.07.2005 13:53 |
Yeah, I think it did. I liked it a lot more than the last book...maybe that's the reason why? Everything kept moving so quickly and you get sucked in it! I finished the book in two days because I couldn't put it down! |
SergeantPepperDG 18.07.2005 14:50 |
All the relationship crap really pissed me off. And was J.K. Rowling TRYING to make us feel sorry for Voldemort? Was she also trying to make him sound incredibly sexy? Because she acheived both those things. |
Queenleaf 18.07.2005 15:28 |
I'm buying it today! I can't wait to get home tonight! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

So far, I am nearly 3/5ths through the book (on page 362 out of 607). Damn, the suspense of finding out who the Half-Blood Prince and who dies is killing me. It's taking all my will-power not to visit any forums (on HP and non-HP websites) that have HBP topics marked with SPOILER(s) in the topic titles. Which reminds me, I should open a new topic on this section for discussions including spoilers. I shall do that right away. |
