Freddie's Mercedes was on eBay last year and sold for a fairly reasonable amount of money (seems like I remember $10,000 USD as the highest bid). The seller was somehow afiliated with Elecktra Records, who presented Freddie with the car in the 70s to commemorate a million albums sold. According to the seller, Freddie only used the car a few times and never drove it himself.
Just this week on eBay, Freddie and Jim's Volvo roadside assistance card was put up for auction.
It's credit card sized and reads Mr. F. Mercury, complete with his full Garden Lodge address. The link is: link
In one of his interviews, he told that he had a car accident in '76 about one month before Hyde Park concert. It happend when his own driver wasn't with him, instead one of the roadies drove him home. He told he couldn't drive. According to his interview, suddenly that roadie shouted "Brakes don't work!" The car was running at around 50 km an hour until their car collided with the big drainpipe piled at the side of the road. He said he was thinking about many things such as his cats until the car collided. His head struck the window, but fortunately glass didn't break. And anyway both two didn't get any injury. A girl and her boyfriend living nearby helped them to creep out the broken car and invited them to her house. Her boyfriend soon recognized one of them as Freddie. If he had got any dreadful injury, he couldn't have performed at Hyde Park concert. Thank God he was very lucky... btw I don't have any clue about what car he had at that time...and sorry I've written to much about the accident, not his own car...
