just a quick note to say hello to all the Americans on QZ. Currently on day 8 of our US tour - enjoyed San Diego. Phoenix was hotter than the sun, and G.Canyon was awesome....Las Vegas was - (well it was Las Vegas - there's nothing else to say about it) we were there for July 4th!!! haha! spent today at Yosemite v.impressive, currently pitched up at the Best Western sonora before our three days in San Fran (from tomorrow), then onto Los Angeles - v.impressed with the west coast - all the best American listeners - you have a beautiful country here. |

Thank you! You've been to more places than I have. I've only been to Virginia, Washington D.C. and Mexico(country). I'm going to California next summer! |

Gunpowder Gelatine 07.07.2005 03:22 |
Yep, California is the best! Even if we did have way too much rain this year...but now I love it here even more because supposedly the tour's coming here to Los Angeles in the fall! I'll believe it when I see it, though -Brian's soapbox has been saying they're about to push the button for probably three months now! :) |

:D Rock on! San Fran is the best... and not just because i live in the area ;) Hope you enjoy the rest of it and the beautiful city... be sure to try the cupcakes at citizen cupcake on 4th and Market (its on the top story of the virgin megastore). Their carrot, lime or mint cupcakes are all very very delicious! |

Martin...so wonderful to hear from you. Was hoping you are still here in the USA, so you would be safe due to the London terrorist attacks. Well...you enjoy Los Angeles. And I want a full report about Queen on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Hollywood Rock Walk. Stop by Mann's (formerly Grauman's Chinese Theater) to see all the movie star's handprints in cement there too. Drive down Wilshire Boulevard and Hollywood and Vine and you will see all the Record Companies and some film/TV studios too! You have to eat hot dogs at ''The Tail Of The Pup''. They have superior weiners and curly fries, and all the movie stars stop there cuz the dogs and curly fries are so YUMMY! Drop by Jonny Depp's Viper Room and The L.A. House Of Blues and rock your ass off. |

am still having a great time spent the afternoon on a tour of s.fran - bloody hilly - understatement eh? all eating far too much (it is, i'm told - the American Dream)...my son has had approx 40 pancakes with maple syrup (for breakfast so far) we've also travelled approx 2400 miles since getting here - visited four states, seen 25 airports, countless McDonalds(trying to avoid eating in them)....listened to approximately 100hrs of music on mp3 player and spent 60hrs on coach(bus)....filmed approx four hrs of footage for dvd, and taken over 300 camera pictures...oh yeah, and watched the red sox on hotel tv four times while out here (which is more red sox games than i get to see in a whole season back home on english tv) bought some nfl gear at pier39. going out to alcatraz tomorrow and then the day after to san simeone, then anaheim (disney adventure park) and LA to finish next weds.... have to say that the place that blew me away wasn't G.Canyon (altough it was pretty awesome) and Yosemite was great too! - no - the most unspoilt and beautiful place of all those we've seen was Sedona - this was the location of many old western films and remains a thing of beauty - Arlene - you may remember the 'vistas' from many John Wayne movies.... i hope no-one is offended by my upbeat tone (after what has happened in London today) - i am thinking about my countrymen, but at the same time i'm not sacrificing a moment's enjoyment on this holiday we've looked forward to for so long... apols for 'going on a bit' - but this country is just incredible.... regards to all, one 'very blown away' QZoner... Brenski |

BrenskiSounds like you are having a blast. Glad you got to see the vistas of Sedona. Where have you been downing pancakes? The International House of Pancakes (or IHOP as we USAers say is great), so is Denny's, Bob's Big Boy. Hope you have the time of your life in L.A. Remember to have hot dogs and curly fries with cheese and chilli at ''The Tail Of The Pup'', and see all the Hollywood Walks of Fame, with Queen, and the movie stars handprints. If you can, try to get in on one of the FREE tapings of ''The Tonight Show'' or any of the talk shows taped out there. They're free to the public. Also Disneyland and ... ...Universal Studios with the ''Psycho'' Norman Bates Motel set and the ''Jaws'' ride. ENJOY! |

okay -i'm home and severly 'lagged' but staying awake to fight it - so here's my summary of all things USA from the 'Brenski US Tour 05' 1. san diego - nice and a old-style mexican feel 2. willaims - onehorse town - horse evidently shot abotu 40 yrs ago 3. phoenix - hotter than the fucking sun 4. sedona - if you can't see the undeniable beauty in this place, then you have no soul 5. vegas - well it's 'vegas'!!! how much money can you squeeze into one small place? glitzy, tacky and FUN-FUN-FUN!!! and July 4th on July 4th...what more can a traveller ask for? 6. yosemite - bloody huge. can't you americans choose any other option other than 'supersize'? 7. g canyon - awesome - but see 'yosemite' above 8. san fran - nice in places, and hills that went on forever. bad case of beggars and homelessness. also got to ride cablecar agggghhh!!! 9. LA - bloody gridlocked!!! but fun! and BHills and Hollywood were 'interesting' 10. LAX airport - sorry to say - the worst airport i've ever been in!! - and i've been in at least 25! chaos reigns supreme!! overall though - i loved your country loved the pancakes - came back after 16 days only having put on 1lb in weight. travelled 5995miles to get there and 5995 back, and 2330 while there.... got some great dvds, some nice red sox and patriots gear , watched the allstar game in a bar in LA...and bought ANATO on dvd-a great holiday, will look at east coast - NY,New Eng and Niagra next.....maybe take in a patriots game |

Hey Martin! Welcome back home. Glad to hear you had a great time. Sounds like the pancakes were the best part of visiting the USA! Did you get to see in Hollywood, The Walk of fame, the Rock Walk, and Grauman's Chinese Theater, all that have the handprints of the stars...including Queen? Did you get to visit Universal Studios, The House of Blues and Johnny Depp's Viper Room and eat at Tail of The Pup? More details on L.A.! Tell me all about L.A.! |

didn't see Queen prints/star on walk of fame but did see my hero - John wayne's prints also went to Universal - the backlot tour was brilliant, and some nice touches - esp the water stuff went to disney - california park (we had done the main disney stuff in Paris about seven years ago) but calif was scary...my wife persuaded me to ride the 'twilight zone elevator of terror' and (for someone who has great trouble with ANY heights) - esp when some teenager managed to 'die briefly' in florida one the same ride on the smae day!!! it was fucking-shit-yer-pants scary!!!! but i did it!!! - i think my stomach is still in Anaheim!!! Arlene - i really loved the west coast tour, and the USA in general, will definitely be planning an east coast tour for next year, maybe take in a patriots game (would be nice after 21 years of them being my 'crap team' turned good) |

Did you take photos of Johns Wayne's prints? That must have been so cool. Post them here if you did. Would love to see them. I want to see the walk of fame more than anything if I ever go to L.A., and Universal Studios. |

i did get the Duke's prints on camera also got a load more - about four hours of minidv tape, and about 300 camera images honestly - i've travelled to loads of places most of europe, Ireland, Tunisia, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt (which was incredible), but America ranks up there with Egypt for 'blow you away' factor |
