I'm a Queen fan, but Pink Floyd was amazing on Live 8, i must say. I just finished to watch their performance, and it was incredible. I hope they'll be back soon playing. From Chile |

I almost fell asleep I must say... Sadly, I thought there would be more rock'n'roll... And there was to slow music. It all felt like same songs the whole bunch of the songs. I haven't and I really can't get into Pink Floyd. Sorry! But this is me. |

Superb, really good. Looked like they were having a lot of fun. |

Roger Waters has probably ever smiled so much in his life! That could bode well for a full blown reunion. I was half expecting Pink Floyd's set to go the way of Led Zep's at Live Aid, but they actually did really well. I liked the choice of songs (and the fact that they avoided the most obvious crowd pleaser) and they sounded fantastic too - Dave Gilmour's voice and guitar playing has gotten better with age. The video displays were also perfectly judged. Only Roger's bodged lead vocals on 'Wish you were here' spoiled things slightly. |
David Jones 02.07.2005 19:47 |
Pink Floyd were great! Would probably have swapped them with The Who though, more of a rocky finale. Waters looked to have a good time, but no contact from Dave Gilmour to Roger Waters, only a smile to Nick Mason. Roger sportingly got the band together at the end. Not sure if there will be a world tour to follow, wouldn't be suprised... |

Great. Just great. i think together with The Who the best performances. But I pitty they didn't play ''Another Birck In The Wall'' on this ''legendary'' concert. |

What was Floyd's full set? I know they did Numb & WYWH. MTV showed about 90 seconds of Numb then cut back to that stiff John Norris! Awful, awful, awful coverage by MTV & VH1! Really an embarrassment. I hope coverage was better in Europe. How was Velvet Revolver? |
Jjeroen 03.07.2005 03:50 |
The Floyd set: -Speak to me/Breathe -Money -Wish You Were Here -Comfortably Numb The BBC showed every second of it ;-) Velvet Revolver? Well... what can I say... They are just not such a good live act, and proved that again at Live 8. Musically it was messy and Scott Weiland, who was obviously out by whatever drug he took this time, sang just dreadfull. Pitty... |

Jjeroen 03.07.2005 09:35 |
Well, with Waters standing at the drumriser, he and Mason definately had a moment there! I realy got the impression that Dave Gilmour is the one having a hard time with this reunion. The other ones seemed quite alright with the situation. Looked like Gilmour had a pretty hard time accepting Roger's arm at the end indeed... |

bohemian 11513 03.07.2005 11:36 |
No... David and Roger shared vocals... just like they did when they recorded those songs all those years ago. |

OIC. Thanks. Also, seeing as I can't check it out at the moment (since this PC I'm on doesn't have speakers), is AOL now hosting the recorded stream videos from all the worldwide Live 8 performances? I want to see some of the performances of my favourite bands when I get home later tonight... |

I just watched the Floyd set.. WOW... they were GREAT.. it was as if they had never had a day apart.. they were TIGHT as a band.. it was incredible.. I totally enjoyed it. here in the US the lousy station that showed this had a habit of cutting in as a song was in progress and out before the last one was over so I stopped watching it.. Errr... actually Comfortably Numb is BOTH Gilmour and Waters! "Hello... is there anybody in there" = Waters "There is no pain..." = Gilmour On Live 8 voals where like this: -Speak to me/Breathe - Gilmour -Money - Gimour -Wish you were here - Gilmour with not-so-good second voice from Waters -Comfortably Numb - duet, usual roles Why they broke up? Well, round the time of Animals and The Wall (end 70's) Waters was taking over as the main songwriter of the band. After The Wall Waters did The Final Cut basically on his own (with just a little help from Gilmour for one vocal and two guitarsolo's. Richard Wright already got sacked). Second to that: mainly Gilmour and Waters hated eachother. Plus Waters was getting pretty paranoid and got fucked up by the whole situation and as a result started insulting and even spitting on people in the audience. Let's just say, there was a lot going on in his mind. (But listening to the albums is enough to proof that! ;-) After The Final Cut, Waters wanted to call it a day and announced the breakup of the band. Few years later Gilmour announced that he wanted to carry on with Mason and Wright under the Floyd-name. Waters dragged them to court over the name and lost. Both gone separate ways since that and had not even spoken to eachtoher untill recently. To me personally Floyd stopped after Waters left. Love all their work to death, but I just can not listen to the post-Waters albums... I get sooo bored and I cannot seem to listen to Gilmours voice for over an hour... Musically I've always been more of a Waters fan. (His Amused to Death album is a true masterpiece!) |

(His Amused to Death album is a true masterpiece!)Here with you I loved their performance... I saw Who and they were great, I kinda liked Razorlight but... when Floyds hit the stage that was it- the magic was in the air, they just showed EVERYBODY what it's all about- Robbie, Keane, Coldplay, Madonna- anyone- were put to shame by those guys... It wasn't just background music, some stupid radio hits- it was Music witha capital M. Incredible, and I was so happy they didn't do Another Brick In The Wall... There was only one thing I didn't like- the amount of time they were given... Another 20 minutes and Shine On You Crazy Diamond- would anyone complain? I must say I stopped watching when they finished- I switched of TV and put on WISH YOU WERE HERE on my hi-fi... After this performance thay should have switch on all the lights and finish the whole thing. Macca should have been BEFORE, not after... Incredible stuff- WHAT A YEAR! Pink Floyd together, Queen on tour with Paul Rodgers... If Led Zeppelin are gonna tour with some drummer I'll go crazy... |

I know Fenderek, it was hard enough for me to belive the headline... 'PINK FLOYD RE-UNITING FOR LIVE 8'. ...and that because I was thinking it was going to be just Glimour, Wright, and Mason. Since Gilmour mentioned a couple of years ago that he wasn't particularly considering re-uniting Pink Floyd, and said he's had enough of it. Then when I read that Waters was joinging them, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. It was hard to believe that after all the feuds between Gilmour and Waters they decided to put the bad feelings aside. I guess that's just the power of great causes like this one. Now I'm really hoping that there might be a Pink Floyd re-union next year and go back on tour as a 4 member band. I don't know if that will happen, but I know for sure that after Live 8 concert promoters will be fighting and bringing offers by lots of millions to Pink Floyd to go on tour again. Even if they don't re-unite I'm happy for what they did in Live 8. Besides, next year 'The Wall' on Broadway will premiere and finally there will be a musical that I'm very looking forward to see, and I won't be thinking so much that spending more than $80 on a ticket might be worth it or not. |

Another thing about people being so amazed that Pink Floyd would reunite and..be so pleasant to one another during their performance at Live 8. Bob Geldof is not only very good friends with both David Gilmour and Roger Waters for many years now... ..But people forget that Bob Geldof played Pink in the film version of ''The Wall'' (which is how and when he became friends with them). ...Also...hmmmmmmmm..there was an interview with Geldof about a month and a half ago in one of the Brit mags, Q or Mojo, I forget...about how... ...Roger Waters personally asked Geldof to play Pink in the film..and Bob refused and called it.. ..sheer $*$&%$## (unprintable!)...So Roger kept asking Bob again and again, and Bob kept saying that he hated the whole idea of being an actor in a rock film, the whole Hollywood scene and that it was all $^%$% (unprintable!). ..BTW..LMFAO at Bob's recollection of this, curse words included!.. ...So...Roger Waters invited Bob for lunch, and on the limo ride over, they talked more....and Roger kept trying to give good reasons WHY Bob should play Pink, and Bob said all he and Roger did was curse at and lock horns with one another... ...but..Bob kiddingly said...THAT is what made him and Roger become Friends! (because they are so much alike!..... ..So..Bob and Roger became friends..and Bob took the acting role...and the rest as they say is history...now because that very friendship..helped sow the seeds for the Pink Floyd reunion for Live 8, and there you have it! |
