And it was NOT a pretty sight! Rest assured, the legacy of Freddie and Queen's 1985 legendary performance WILL STAND in infamy. Robbie only did a brief into from WWRY, not the whole song, leading into his song ''Let Me Entertain You''. Was awful. He has a very thin, voice, and little vocal range or power that just isn't full, rich, deep and can't belt like Freddie. And...the world survived! |

thank you brian and roger for shitty preformance of we will rock you by robbie williams on live8 guess they didn´t learn anything from the first time he butchered queen song john is obivusly the only living queen member who still has brain that works "I don't want to be nasty, but Robbie is no Freddie Mercury. Freddie can never be replaced - and certainly not him." |
Insomni@ 02.07.2005 17:26 |
I agree,he was awful! |

omg thats so harsh lol...yet still funny |

It was good. why should he do it like Queen? adding his flavor made it cool. |
Suigi 02.07.2005 18:42 |
Why will it stand in infamy? It was fuckin' amazing! Infamy is a BAD thing! |

FUCKIN LOSERS ROBBIE WAS ABSOLUTE CLASS! HE STOLE THE SHOW WHAT A SHOWMAN! HE IS A CLASS ACT! THE GUY KNOWSHOW TO HANDLE AN AUDIENCE idiots |
BHM1775 03.07.2005 04:09 |
Robbie raised the concert to a new pitch. He proved he can handle an audience and got them to interact. A true entertainer of the highest degree. Freddie did it last time, Robbie did it this time. |
Serry... 03.07.2005 04:22 |
Robbie was good. Most of you have said a lot of times that 'Paul Rodgers is not Freddie, so don't wait to hear Freddie's versions of songs' so what the hell you think that Robbie is Freddie?! He sung song in his own way. |
bitesthedust 03.07.2005 04:58 |
in his own way, yes.... singing the wrong words and making a mockery of the song. I hope Brian & Roger are pleased with themselves. |

It got the crowd going - he did his job. So what if he didn't sing the words correctly - 200,000 people at Hyde Park didn't give shit, they just partied and joined in. Shit, I am surprised no-one has mentioned the half mic stand yet - that's worth another 198 pages of Robbie Williams being a wanker for trying to be like Freddie. |

BTW, someone has mentioned the mic stand ..... link |
Clare McGann 03.07.2005 06:57 |
He was good in own right, althought of course not comparable to Fred ....but then again who is but give him his dues that guy CAN sing...he certainly knows how to entertain....just look at the number of fans that love him and enjoyed him last night The fact that so many people are comparing him to Freddie suggests that he has something... |
Taylorette 03.07.2005 07:00 |
I agree,it was shit!!!!!!!! |
MelinaMercury 03.07.2005 07:01 |

Aisha Sweetness 03.07.2005 08:07 |
Oh no i agree that Robbie stole the show and got the crowd jumping but wwry was brutal, like how many times has he sang it before, he even recorded it for the soundtrack of a Knights tale it just pisses me off that he cant remember the words. |

Absolute, postive, total and utter shite. He murdered that song. He sang the wrong words and I am sure Freddie's ashes would have been spinning. Pink Floyd and The Who rocked tho ! :-p |
Rien 03.07.2005 08:29 |
Robbie gave a good show, the audience loved it as far as I could see. But it was more an ego-trip than a performance for the cause. And WWRY? He brought the music of Queen to Live 8. The lyrics? He always sings it like that so what's the problem? If he'd tried to copy Queen or Freddie than we wouldn't be pleased either. It was his first performance in two years as he said. Think what you like but this man does have a talent as a showman. He does think he has the biggest ego in the world, but if he did not have an attidude he wouldn't be performing, would he. (a lot of you might like that I guess...) |

mr bad guy 5656 03.07.2005 13:19 |
Indeed. I think Robbie did a great job entertaining the audience. But after let me entertain you, it seemed like he had 'overdone' his voice. I still have the impression he talked himself a way through the others (feel and angels, i think) good performance, but not as huge as Queen's. (did queen showed a video message?) |
QUEENROCKS_1991 03.07.2005 14:15 |
no they didnt show their message :( |
bohemian 11513 03.07.2005 14:31 |

flash00. 03.07.2005 15:38 |
i agree robbie needs to stay away from queen songs because it shows his vocals up terrible, it sounded friggin shit, and to top it off in todays paper it had a big photo of williams pouting like freddie inside the paper prints quote;freddie mercury was obviously a star of the first one,the big personality that everyone remembers, I think robbie williams could take his place" utter bollocks! the person who wrote it is also a celeb photographer and he also says bono and U2 stole live aid!!!... i think robbie thinks he's freddie or as good as freddie.... tight white vests..cut off microphone. all he needs is a moustache lol. i like robbie's own stuff by the way incase anyone thinks i hate him lol |

lol u guys suck! he did a great job! Arlene ur a cunt, sorry...u just are. You know most of the people on QZ "hate" Robbie cuz he did some Queensongs and now u want to make urself popular with these poor gits. Pathetic really. And he didn't forget the words...he added his OWN lyrics. He sang these at Knebworth too. |
The Real Wizard 03.07.2005 16:16 |
dixie wrote: am i the only person here who thought robbie did quite wellNope, I thought he stole the show. He was by far the best performer of the day, and he had the audience in the palm of his hand unlike anyone else. I'd say Madonna was a close second, but Robbie just had a certain energy that was unmatched. It was magical. englishyob wrote:I had to point this out: This is quite possibly the gramatically worst sentence ever posted on QZ. Criss3287 05.07.2005 20:30 |
Well, Robbie Williams is a real good performer and I like his music, too. But when he tries to sing Queen songs, I'm about to puke. When I listened to We are the champions sung by him (did Bri and Rog play on that awful remake?! I think so...) for the first time, I couldn't turn it off, I could'nt move for I was so deeply shocked and that he did it at his concerts didn't make it better. Now WWRY...hell, this time I was able to choose another TV channel. But I saw Green Day performing WATC in Berlin...that was real crap!!! |
brian_may_wannabe 06.07.2005 15:48 |
I didn't really enjoy Robbie's version of WWRY. Not offence to him or any Robbie fans out there, but I just didn't enjoy his version of the song from Live 8. |
