I think I'm going tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath. Someone told me Armageddon with Bruce Willis was the best movie ever. It was shit. Nevertheless Independance Day was brilliant.

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!" We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Susan and I saw it opening day. The jetliner and train sequences, along with the other special effects, were top notch.
There were so many things better than the original movie.
But we both wanted to duct tape the little girl's whiney ass mouth, and hated the whole 'family' drama.
I saw it yesterday (July 1st).
Since I heard the news that Spielberg was making that movie, I've been soooo impatient, because I used to read the original WOTW many times while in my childhood...
Yes, it's a great movie...I was blown away in horror. I've never felt such terror before from other movies...imho, as completely as possible, Spielberg succeeded in expressing the terror aroused unconsciously among the people of 20th and 21st centuries who have ever read the original.
Saw it tonight and was pretty disappointed by it. I actually knew before hand that I would not like it, so I wasn't too surprised.
I thought the special effects were just about the only good thing about it...other than that I don't have much to comment on.
Oh wait, yes I do. Dakota Fanning (i think that's her name...) was SO annoying!!!
I know it cannot compare to the past version of this movie, alone the special effects is what carries this movie, Thing about it, It had me freaked somewhat, sorta in a scary mode when the thunder storm is going on, kinda made wonder if I should build a underground celler, lol
I saw it yesterday and I it really me in some parts. Many scenes were really uncomfortable to watch.
It was not at all as I expected, i kinda thought it would be a regular big-budget "monster" movie like kingdom of heaven or Independence day but it wasnt. Also the effects were spectacular.
Overall it was a great movie, altough there were som weak scenes. But definitely worth watching.

Well, that goes without saying. Any movies Bruce Willis has been in that were decent, were decent in spite of him.
And you can't ever trust anything that other people tell you about movies :D That was how I wound up watching (don't shoot, please, classic movie fans, only an opinion here) Jaws. Ever since then I';ve had a deep-seated loathing for that movie.
