Queen at my wedding
| jona1 30.06.2005 09:02 |
I 'm getting married on the 27th August and we where talking about a song to be played as we come out after the service. i said i wanted Another One Bites The Dust. which i think would be really funny and give everyone a laugh. but my partner thinks otherwise what do you think? |
| Farlander 30.06.2005 09:56 |
I think your partner is right. If you want something a little more upbeat, how about Breakthru? It seems a bit more appropriate, lyrics-wise. |
| Serry... 30.06.2005 09:58 |
How about Wedding March from Flash Gordon... |
| The Mir@cle 30.06.2005 10:06 |
Why not I Want To Break Free :P... No serious, I would love to have Don't Stop Me Now played at my wedding. |
| drowsy 30.06.2005 11:04 |
Surely the most appropriate song lyric-wise would be You're my best friend or something. I mean, perfect "I love you, You love me, We're so happy" sort of thing. One question, though, Farlander, exactly how would Breakthru's lyrics be appropriate, seeing as it's all about unrequited love - hardly the sort of feelings associated with a wedding, unless you're the best man or something. I do like the Another one bites the dust thing too, though, but it could just be my twisted snse of humour |
| Farlander 30.06.2005 11:17 |
I think if you read the lyrics and think of a wedding, they can take on a different meaning. Obviously not the intent of the lyrics, but I think it does the job. Plus, I was just thinking about the video where they all burst through the tunnel and likening that to going out after the service. Really, though, this doesn't seem like the appropriate time for a Queen song anyway, so whatever. Personally, I'd save Queen for the reception. |

How about Love Of My Life? perfect... |
| _amadeus_ 30.06.2005 12:17 |
Another One Bites the Dust wouldn't be appropriate :D I'm just 14, so I'm not thinkin' about that :D Parents weddin' song was 'You're The Inspiration' by Chicago. |
| boca 30.06.2005 12:48 |
Love of my life is perfect, really, arlene is right |
| bitesthedust 30.06.2005 12:57 |
how about These Are The Days Of Our Lives? for my wedding I'm going to exit to '39 and for my first dance with my wife I'm going to have White Queen (As It Began)- Live at the Rainbow, 20/11/1974. |
| diegoarias1976 30.06.2005 14:35 |
Hi, I´m from Argentina and I want to say that I used "I was born to love you" (Made in Heaven version) for my wedding in 2001. Everyone loved that, even the people who doesn´t know Queen. Sorry for mi english!! |
| NovemberQueen88 30.06.2005 14:58 |
Love Of My Life would not be a very good song because it talks about how he was hurt by this person and it doesn't sound like wedding material...hmmmm... a good song WOULD have to be I Was Born To Love You because it is upbeat for the most part and it is about finding the one for you. It's perfect to me...I would use it at my wedding!! Congrats by the way!! My wishes are out to you and your future together!! |
| Insomni@ 30.06.2005 16:09 |
First of all, congratulations. To be honest,I don't think that this is appropriate but it would be really funny. Now,if you want a Queen song for your wedding I suggest: 1.Don't stop me now-you can dance it with your partner,or even 2.Crazy little thing called love-it can be danced too. I hope I helped you a little :) |
| Suigi 30.06.2005 16:21 |
I would go with I Was Born To Love You, or maybe just for fun, the Rocks retake of I Can't Live With You. |
| Insomni@ 30.06.2005 16:34 |
Firstly,Congratulations for your wedding. Well,I don't think that this song is appropriate for a wedding but it would be funny(:P) Now if you want a Queen song I suggest: 1.Don't stop me now-you can dance it with your partner,or even, 2.Crazy little thing called love-the best song as I believe and i can be danced too!!!:) I hope I helped you a little |

We used "The Wedding March" and then added "It's A Kind Of Magic" which is very suitable for such a magical event....we also had lot's of Queen songs at the reception....including some rockers...I remember my parents Waltzing to Hammer to Fall....our wedding video had pretty much a Queen soundtrack as well including Somebody To Love for moments leading up to the event... |

I think the thought of "Another One Bites the Dust" being played at any wedding is a terrible idea. Maybe a wacky funeral. You certainly don't want to mock your own marriage. I think that'd be incredibly poor taste - stick with, perhaps, one of Queen's more sentimental, slow songs. |

Stop talking bollocks people!! there's only one real choice.. and that is of course ONE YEAR OF LOVE!! who know's how long theyre gonna be together, but at least a year is better than a life time alone (of love nor marriage) =D Yes consider that!!! |
| Saint Jiub 30.06.2005 20:35 |
I insisted on it being played at our wedding almost 15 years ago. As much as I love AOBTD, it is not a good dance song and is too slow. My wife and I were the only ones on the dance floor, and after a minute or two, the song was too slow and dull to dance to. I was relieved when AOBTD was finally over. |

Nah. It starts off terribly for a wedding song "you've hurt me, you've broken my heart and now you leave me." I quite like your AOBTD idea but what about Crazy Little Thing Called Love or Funny How Love Is? or You and I, or Millionaire Waltz. There are a lot to choose from actually...for my wedding I intend to get my friend to play the Wedding March on his Red Special. That would be awesome. And, actually, now that I think about it I reckon I'll have Flashdance. I know it's not Queen but the lyrics seem appropriate and it would be really fun... |

Serry... wrote: How about Wedding March from Flash Gordon...That's what my wife and I came out of the church to, followed by excercises in free love, and my friend Chris (fat_buddino) played a gorgeous piano arrangement of Love of my Life while we were signing the register. Not bad - three queen related tunes at one wedding service. |
| bogdanescu 01.07.2005 05:51 |
Congratulations for your wedding. I think AOBTD is a very good choice if you want to have fun. For my wedding I have choose Highway to hell, from ACDC, and at the wedding party we had a lot of Queen music and everyone had fun. |
| RohemianBapsody 01.07.2005 08:19 |
You Take My Breath Away. Quite slow but the lyrics are sublime. |

Congrats! ^.^ I agree with I Was Born To Love You. But might I suggest It's A Beautiful Day? A wedding day is indeed a beautiful day. Just hope for sunshine, then it would be perfect! Also, I don't think Save Me would be a good wedding song, but it's nice to dance to. ;) Good luck! |

Thank you everyone for your comments and your best wishes. I never thought of haveing I Was Born To Love You played. wouldn't care it's one of my all time favs. i think she may like that idea better. And yes she is a big queen fan. not as big as me though. but she has been to all the Tribute band gigs i've been to. and was at the Newcastle gig on 03/05/2005, and has even had the micky taken out of her by Gary mullen one night when we had a chat with him after the One Night of Queen gig at newcastle. a couple of times when he was on near us she had booked holidays and we didn't get to the gigs. i had been speaking to him online previous and he and his mother remembered us. so he had a go at her lol. she went bright red as she never knew about it untill then. lol we are having a family meal after the service so i might slip Another One Bites The Dust on the cd that i have to arrange that will be played as back ground music. if fact i will. lol but i think I was born To Love You will be spot on. Its our kind of unoffical song. if you know what i mean. |

Get Down Make Love? Maybe for the wedding night, anyway..;-) |
| kyassor 01.07.2005 18:38 |
At my wedding we played 'All Dead, All Dead' .... hope no one digs up the patio :-) |
| deleted user 02.07.2005 20:10 |
Love of My Life perfect? The lyrics are all about how one person has been hurt by another, etc, etc. Hardly appropriate for a wedding. I'd probably suggest a song like I Was Born To Love You. Something upbeat and lyrically appropriate. |

If you don't get on with the in-laws, can I suggest Tie Your Mother Down. |
