I'm organizing some of my Queen files and I need a little assistance.
''Freddie Mercury - The Man and His Music'' was a special obviously recorded on the day of the Freddie Tribute Concert. It's in 4 parts and features interviews with practically everyone who took part in the Tribute interspersed with various Queen clips. The first 3 parts are mostly interviews and clips, while the fourth part includes highlights from the show.
These interviews, I should add, are not the same as those shown on the Tribute DVD. These are conducted in front of a blue backdrop and appear to be done by some outside media, while the Tribute interviews are done in front of a gray backdrop and were probably done for QP. Also, these are better interviews and not just soundbites like on the Tribute DVD.
Now, can anyone tell me some additional information on where this program comes from? The only identifying thing I can find is a promo for ''Super Channel'', another ''Super Channel'' mention during the credits, and a brief commercial between parts 3 and 4. What is/was Super Channel and where or when was this originally broadcast?
Any help is appreciated. Also, if there is an interest in this program, I can torrent it later this week.
Was it an american special because the only station who called themselves the super channel I can think of is the cable station TBS or was it TBNT, it was one of those Turner stations
TBS was known as the Super Station.
No, this is clearly a European thing. It says ''Super Channel,'' has a little station identifyier in the upper right hand corner, and shows a brief commercial for Eric Bourden's European tour dates in 1992.
It's a rather strange program since there is no host or narrator. It reminds me of a promotional video in some regard, but it's not from QP.
Zeni, you are right. This programme was broadcast (on Super Channel) May 2nd, 1992. I have it on VHS and I wrote down the date of broadcast.
This channel was a satellitechannel from the UK.
Zeni wrote: Thanks for the info, Walter. That's what I wanted to know.
Offer stands to torrent it if people want this before I archive it and put it away.
Love to see it too, Zeni!
I remember watching it on tv and being very pissed off because at that time my vcr was broken!! ;-)
I never got the chance to see it again after that...
Guess Walter's date is correct. I can only remember that it was not too long after the actual Tribute concert.
If it is indeed the show I think it is, that is... ;-)
Yesterday evening I watched this programme from my VHS. The quality of those tapes doesn't last long, does it? I has been a while since I played that tape. But the date is indeed May 2nd, 1992.
I always write down the date of broadcast ;-)
