Uh oh. Hopefully the writing doesn't completely suck like it has for the past few seasons.
This might've been a good idea back in the prime of the Simpsons, but now they're just an old dog that should really be put out of its misery. I still enjoy watching the trainwreck it's become, though...

I hope not.
The reason why 'The Simpsons' has gone downhill is because the producers are way too concerned about bringing celebrity guests, and not so much about writing interesting plots for the episodes. Also the show was getting too centered around Homer, and at some point Homer just wasn't funny anymore.
Homer is my favourite. The guests are only funny when they send themselves up. I hate guests that charge millions to do only one or two lines.
My favourite guests on that show have been Frasier and Niles doing Sideshow Bob and his brother. They're great. Then there's Leonard Nimoy. He's a hoot.
I'm not sure how I feel about this...on one hand, it's the Simpsons. On the other, it's had its day and the writing has got crap over the last few seasons, although it has improved slightly this season from the last 5 or 6. Homer is still doing his 'arsehole' thing just a bit too often.
If they can get some really good writers in and come up with a kickarse story then it might just be okay.
Whatever...I'd still go and see it!

That was a spendid episode with David Hyde Pierce and Kelsey Grammar!
And when ISN'T Leonard Nimoy a hoot! XD
You know, it's too bad Phil Hartman isn't here to make more with them :( . He made a great Kent Brockman and such.
What has been your guys' favorite guest on The Simpson's?
(I'll answer later, I haven't watched in ages and I have to do a little looking into it before I can really say for sure)
Hmm, I must be wrong. You're right, Lester, that he's only listed as doing Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure. I guess Kent ... ohmy ...
*is rather embarrassed*
My apologies. (I told you it's been ages since I watched it!)
My favourite guest stars...hmmm...
Obviously, Kelsey Grammar and David Hyde Pierce.
The Smashing Pumpkins (''Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins.'' ''Homer Simpson, smiling politely.'')
Ringo Starr (''Forgive the lateness of my reply.'')
Danny ''Uncie Herb'' de Vito
Also quite liked the Ramones, Aerosmith and Tony Blair. I was disappointed when Lucy Lawless was on and she didn't talk with her New Zealand accent.
To be fair, the standard of writing in the last couple of series has improved. The stories and plot progressions are not as absurd as had become the norm two or three years ago. And they've actually got back to writing proper gags, not just daft visual set-pieces. (Though there is still a tendency to use episodes as mere vehicles for celebrity guests, as has been pointed out before).
I hope the Simpsons can get somewhere near its vintage best in time for the film, and then go out on a high. However I fell that it will continue to drag on well past its expiry date, as long as there is more cash to be milked from its (enourmous) udders.
