If you go on Yahoo/Music Launch at... link
To currently Celebrate the Current reissuing and the remastering of The Cure's back catolog, each with Special 2 Disc Editions, each with 2nd CD's containing never before released material...
The Cure did 3 things.
1) A video interview with Robert Smith & The band.
2) A LIVE video performance taped just for Yahoo Music Launch.
3) Here's the best part, Robert Smith discusses in depth a near 16 minute album by album creative retrospective of the Cure's entire album cataloge, chronologically...detailing the history, songwriting process, inspiration, band dynamics of each record.
I watched & listened to all 3 and this is Fabulous and VERY informative.
....Now......WHY can't Brian & Roger do this with the upcoming release of the 30th Anniversary of ANATO?
..1) Release it as 2 Discs, the 2nd disc being ALL never before released material from the ANATO sessions, B sides, outtakes.
2) And it would be perfect, to do something like what The Cure did on say Yahoo Music Launch, or their own Queen website,...
...do a Special Online In Studio Performance LIVE video in depth,
...ALSO do a discussion of a detailed retrospective profile that would really tell the fans the history, creative & songwriting process, band dynamics behind..
...EVERY Queen album,
...plus do an interview discussing the ANATO 30th Special Edition album, the making of, song selection, remastering, and bonus songs...and the creative & songwriting process & history behind ANATO past, and ANATO Special Edition Present 30th Anniversary Edition.
Well, they don't have the lead singer with which to discuss song writing and perform the material, but apart from that oh fuck it I can't be bothered anymore - Queenzone - meet Arlene. I hope you'll be very happy together.
I'll be the leech on the Announce forum.
SCUSE me I said Brian & Roger....
...I think they are aware and knowledgable enough and were a part of the history and creative songwriting process of Queen..to be able to do this or aren't you familiar with a band CURRENTLY on tour called...Queen.... Plus Paul Rodgers.

Who says they can't? And who says they haven't or won't?
And isn't it a bit early to say what's what on the state of the 30th anniversary release? Unless you know something about it that we don't.
Peace,
Adam.
That's like teasing my ass with a feather. Freddie embodied Queen, his song writing structure, "obsession"(?) with vocal harmonies, having huge input on Roger Taylors and John Deacons songs. It's simply not Queen without him, especially not ANATO era Queen. There's no reason for Brian and Roger to do anything as Queen to celebrate the 30th anniversary by performing because it couldn't do the album justice (though ANATO is a bit overrated, ADATR is a lot better as a whole, really)...Releasing outtakes is a different story.
OgreBattleField1980: "to be honest i dont think they have any outtakes from ANATO , I would think News of the World , or The Miracles outakes would be much much better."
you seem to have missed the whole point of the thread. this year is the 30th anniversary of ANATO - therefore QP are about to launch a special edition to celebrate.
so although i understand your point - this year - there will be no notw or miracle releases. why should there be.
finally, i guess there are many stages of songs in progress, so the truth is we will just have to wait and see.

But...I think alot of fans would still love to see them perform..Live online like The Cure are doing.
1) Why not? They are touring live as Queen now...but with Paul Rodgers. What you say has a slightly Brian's Permed Poodle close minded view and ring to it.
First most the fans go all zealous on this tour, saying that Queen was NOT just Freddie, and was 4 members, and thus we should support the current tour of Brian & Roger (and this is without John too), as Queen.
So why not have them perform specially Live in the studio?
2) Since Brian & Roger have in fact taken up the mantle of doing extensive interviews anyhow...
...same thing..why not do a video on line Web Exclusive (like The Cure) discussing a chronological album by album retrospective of EVERY Queen album, each & every album's history, songwriting process, creative process, critical reactions, fan reactions, anecdotes. This would be very insightful and informative and I would be quite happy to see this.
Before criticising this idea for Queen..
...please watch The Cure's album retrospective, interview, & Live performance on the Yahoo/Launch website link I have noted above...
...and I think you will see what a wonderful idea this would be for Queen...
...and here in the USA...I think the fans would very much appreciate it..as well as International fans too who can log on to the website...Or Brian & Roger could do it on Queenonline.
