Makes me wonder...why after all these years, if Brian & Roger don't want or like what books are already out there, then why don't they do their own band autobiography of Queen?
I heard U2..who HATE every book about them and are very private both personally and professionally..ARE working on their own band autobiography.
This would be good timing for Queen now too, with their heightened profile from the Queen+Paul Rodgers Tour and the upcoming DVD.
"As it began" contains lots of exagerations...for example the line about Queen in Sanremo...it says 2000 people on the theatre...uhm...it can't contain so many people and...they were not "crying" as it's stated (at least in my italian version of the book). The audience was more like a group of egyptian mummies. Though Freddie threw them red roses ;)
And the book does not mention the little argue that someone assure there was one of theat nights in the band....well...maybe it's just a gossip.
I thought the Laura Jackson books were quite good for autobiographies. She doesn't ignore the issues about Freddie's promiscuity and the AIDS rumors from 1987-1991, but still manages to not get too much into the intimate life of Queen as to make up stuff like tabloids and other books have done.
Agree about Laura Jackson: she gets it just about right. I thought As It Began was very interesting, though I only glanced through it: fancy our boys being a load of slutty drug crazed hippies!
Fatty's biography is obviously by miles the best :) Is it still around?
