Hi, I wondered if you would like to take a look at my website as Michael Jackson is in the news today. My site looks at the interesting comparisons between Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury. I was getting ready to delete this page if Jackson was guilty but as he isn't, the page stays online which is great. Here's the link: link Please tell me what you think! |

There's a rumor going around that Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson stopped being friends when Michael caught Freddie snorting coke at his house (This was before he bought 'Neverland'). Michael got pissed and never invited Freddie over again. ...Michael then decided to spend more time with a celebrity he could relate more to. So he called Gary Glitter. |

Well I just heard the demo duet version of M.J. & Freddie singing "There Must Be More To Life Than This". Verdict: Michael Jackson: Guilty of trickly dated boy band sounding vocals and cashing in on a legendary singer from the world's greatest band. Freddie Mercury: Innocent of being misled to collaborate and having his immense talents, songwriting, musicianship, and singing gifts misappropriated to a mindless hypocrite FOOL who duped him into this collaboration. End result. Glad Freddie released this song, without Wacko Jacko, solo on his Mr. Bad Guy record and ditched the very un"thrilling" M.J. |

You fucking single digit IQ'd imbecilic moron. How could it be "dated" "boy band sounding" in 198fucking3? And if he's "cashing in", why has he vetoed it's release? Surely you can't cash in if there's no cash? Are you sure 44 is your age and not the family IQ (total, not average)? |

Legend Carlos Santana asked Michelle Branch, Rob Thomas, and a ton of young mass record selling upstart artists to work with him. Same thing, Santana wanted to appeal to a young, new vast record buying audience. (ie; Freddie asking to work with Michael..get the picture) Freddie had more talent (just my opinion). Michael had more fame and power in the music industry after selling more records than any artist in history. Why wouldn't Freddie or Sinatra or anybody for that matter want to be on the biggest selling record of all time or work with Michael Jackson after the phenomenon of "Thriller"? Freddie was also a decade older than Michael, even Queen's star was hitting a MAJOR career slump... ...Freddie wanting to work with Michael Jackson(and capitalizing on Michael's mass Universal stardom, success, and demographic/music audience appeal)... ...was like Sting (a legend and superstar) wanting to work with Mary J. Blige..or Carlos Santana (a legend) wanting to work with Michelle Branch & Rob Thomas. It's called BUSINESS, MONEY, SELLING RECORDS...by strategizing yourself to appeal to a YOUNG, WORLDWIDE, & the largest mass record buying and concert ticket buying audience that you can. That's all. And excuse me, but several music artists who all have records in the top 10 list ALL TIME, of the most amount of albums ever sold (in the USA),...I hate and aren't all that talented or a big deal. Fleetwood Mac-Rumours I despise the Mac, always have and their self indulgent soap opera played out on record. The Eagles-Greatest Hits Countrified corporate radio friendly simplistic songwriting. Hootie & The Blowfish-Cracked Rear Window/View (whatever) Result of being released at a time in the USA's music evloution being stagnant. People had to choose in 1994 between boy & girl band pop crap like The Spice Girls or The Macarena or offensive hard core shock rock & rap such as Tupac, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, & Grunge. So they opted for a palatable middle of the road. The record was released at the right time was all. Now Hootie & The Bowfish can't get arrested. Jingles...A last thought. Now WHY do you think TALENTED, billionaire star director George Lucas...ASKED to guest on and work with the creators/cast...of the HIT TV show for YOUNG Tweens people, "The O.C." HMMMMMM. Same thing. Even though Lucas is the one with all the talent, Lucas wanted to appeal to a wider, young audience one of the Top 10 Hit shows worldwide. You don't have to agree with it or like it. Maybe he didn't either. It was a smart BUSINESS decision, as is Lucas merchandi |

As are Eric Clapton, U2 & Bono, The Allman Brothers Band, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones (and I'm being VERY objective of the Stones as I am NOT a fan at all of their music, but I respect their talent), Aretha Franklin, Steve Winwood, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, The Who, Ray Charles, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, The Jefferson Airplane, The Kinks, The Faces, The Animals, Traffic, Peter Greens' Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Simple Minds, David Bowie, Heart, and tons more... |

Surely you can't cash in if there's no cash? Are you sure 44 is your age and not the family IQ (total, not average)?Boy band and girl bands have been around since the early 1960's. Do your homework. You hade good versions like The Marvelettes, Ronnie Spector and her back up group, The Chiffons, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles yes, even The Temptations were Motowns answer to wholesome (but in those days..talented) girl bands & boy bands, then later on you had manufactured crap like Menudo or...guess who, or the very talented Jackosn Five or The (YUCK!) Osmond Brothers. The Boy Band, Girl Band thing has been around for some 40 years. It's only the last decade where they became no talent, plastic crap. At Motown...every group was coached professionally, by vocal coaches, dance instructors, they had to play and WRITE music, etc. That's why alot of the artists that came out of Motown that were from boy bands & girl bands or pop bubblegum artists grew to be VERY talented and SUCCESSFUL adult solo artists, like Smokey Robinson or Marvin Gaye. Also "cashing in" is the original intent when people decide to work together to hopefully create a lucrative project (ie; this example a record) to sell. The fact that for whatever creative or business decisions that made Michael Jackson decide NOT to release it, don't take away his ORIGINAL intent and decison to gain a wider audience, more rock oriented and older, with more artistic cred, by working with Freddie. Didn't Bono and David Bowie, both superstars on their own...work with Frank Sinatra..same thing. Didn't the Red Hot Chilli Peppers work with Tony Bennett..same thing. |

Queen were almost forgotten in North America from '82 to '89 while M.J. was at the top of the industry worldwide. (There's no accounting for taste) Quite likely they entered into this collaboration with mutual benefit expected. My ears are grateful for anything without M.J. Still, I doubt that M.J. led Freddie down any garden pathWell said Teleman! |

You gotta admit it Arlene. Back in 1983, there was no one bigger than Michael Jackson. More talented were perhaps some including Queen, but the reason why Michael Jackson took the entire world by storm is because he had this secret formula to make an album that would appeal to EVERYONE. I'm sure that NO ONE including Michael himself knew that the record would become as big as it was. Before 'Thriller' came out, Michael was a big star on the raise. Queen were still bigger than Michael Jackson even though Queen dissapointed with 'Hot Space', but while Queen lost their interest in America, Michael was getting ready to show what he was truly capable of. Michael without a doubt had an incredible amount of talent as a singer, songwriter, and a performer. I have to agree that he always kinda had that bit of a "boy band" singer kind of voice, but just like George Michael did when he left Wham!, Michael proved that he was far too talented to be put under the label of teen pop star. I agree that Freddie Mercury was more talented than Michael, and I'm sure that most people here would agree with that. However, Michael Jackson is far more talented than Sting... or at least was 20 years ago. |

When Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury decided to collaborate, I don't think they particularly did it because they needed to boost their careers. As friends and colleagues they just tried to see what they could come up with together, and if it was good they would have put it out on a record. I'm sure there's a lot of unreleased collaborations between big stars that will possibly never be released because both parties agreed that it just wasn't good enough. ...and sometimes even if it sounds like shit, they still release it anyways. Like Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder did with 'Ebony & Ivory'. |

...Which still makes me wonder if Michael did really catch Freddie snorting coke at his house. Also the version of 'State Of Shock' between Michael & Freddie is way much better than the one of The Jacksons with Mick Jagger. |
