It's been a FULL week since both Queen's website & Brian's website said they were discussing trying to do the satellite link from Lisbon to possibly hook up to play via satellite at Live 8.
Now...tons of other bands figure out what THEY need or want to do and make their decisions alot quicker, and Geldof and the Live 8 organizers also do things in a matter of days.
I read today...that Geldof has been getting TONS of requests from Major acts, BUGGING him to perform at Live 8 and he now has the problem of having to tell some acts NO as there is only SO MUCH TIME for the concerts to be held on July 2.
And it's an agonizing process for Geldof to figure out WHICH bands to choose for the time for the concerts being held on July 2nd that is left or they can squeeze additional bands in.
Queen+Paul Rodgers better make a decision, One Way Or The Other...QUICK..like in the next day or so...
..or there will not be any time left in the concerts as Geldof will have booked other acts.
.....I personally respect if Queen+Paul Rodgers decide they do NOT want to participate in live 8.....
.....But if they decide that they DO want to participate in/at Live 8 via satellite...
...they have to stop beating around the bush and QUICKLY make a decision and stick to it...
...as Geldof has a s***load of International artists bugging him to get on the roster...and soon there WON'T be any time left on the concert roster for Queen+Paul Rodgers.
i wonder if queen really dont want to do it incase there compared to there performance in 85 with freddie hmmm we all know how much the press loves queen;)

You took the WORDS out of my mouth. I actually have been thinking about this all week long myself.
It has to be a NO-WIN siutation for them and a hard decision, which I would not want to be the one to have to make. It's a case of Damned if they DO, Damned if they Don't.
If they DO play...while I am sure Queen fans will be jumping for joy...
...you know there WILL be criticsm and comparisons by press, other bands, even some fans (aka Brians Permed Poodle), to their landmark 1985 Live Aid performance...even though this is all about performing for a good cause, and not whether you give the best performance like some contest.
If they do NOT play...Queen fans, and the VERY same critics & press, will say...
1) It's because of Queen's very FEAR of my explanation above and that they copped and chickened out.
2) They were too busy with Lisbon & the tour to do something for a good cause and return the favor to Geldof for all but saving their career by asking them to perform at the original 1985 Live Aid...and For Geldof doing a video clip/or satellite link for 46664 Arctic.
There is no winning situation here. There is Definitely going to be criticsm no matter WHICH decision they make, whether Queen decides TO DO it and play Live 8, or to NOT play it, via satellite.
Criticsm and the press ragging on Queen follows Queen as it always has and always will.
But my opinion is...F**K whatever critsicsm for either situation...and go ahead and Play Live 8 via satellite.
Queen should make their decision by listening to ONE thing only...their heart and their conscinse.
BY Participating in a Benefit/Charity social/political awareness good cause...THAT is ALL that should matter to them, and for that alone...they will have made the BEST decision.
This is NOT about their career. It's about giving to a good cause and doing the right thing.

No-win situations are supposed to be the hardest ones...
Have fun in Lisboa folks... they will rock their fans there just like they "rocked" everyone of us in spring all over europe... but Live Aid 85 was unique in the "history of the band" and in my opinion it should stay that way...
Live8 will get all of the attention it deserves... even without them!
I personally can't imagine there being any fuss if 'Queen' don't play at Live8. The average person realises that Queen are no more, and wouldn't consider them (or what remains of them) to be a must-have at Live8, and nor should they.
I really hope they don't perform, for all the usual and above-mentioned reasons.
heck if it's a no-win situation either way they might as well play so we can see and hear them....besides it is a great cause and what better way to give people a hint of what Queen + Paul Rodgers can do when they arrive in their country....I say that is definitely WIN-WIN....people may compare it to 85...and so what really...
guys and girls...as I (lol) reported 10 days ago-the decision to alot them a slot is done and its a go.the only reason for the Band not to play will be Pauls voice taking a turn for the worse as they dont want that to be seen by America as what they are.So if his voice is ok and his balls dont shrink-they play
if freddie was alive he prob wudnt do it cos he'd av been too old for it!
imagine how nervous we'd be if he was here - we'd be expecting them to kick U2 for the second time, which they wud.
but he's not here. so U2 will steal the show so it doesnt matter.
i dont care if queen play - if they do it'll create more interest in them cos people will wonder what happened em, and if they dont it doesnt matter.
i hope they play. people can distinguish between the origional and old queen.
we're not stupid
