Much of Queen's stuff has been very carefully crafted in the studio and loses something when played live.
I can only think of a couple of songs (both from Hot Space) which actually sound better live - Staying Power and Backchat.
Anybody got any others ?

Tear It up and A kind Of magic
I don't like the studio versions of those but I love the live versions.
Also.. I like the Under pressure live version more.. but I like the studio version too.
Better live?
-Now I'm Here
-We Will Rock You
-Tie Your Mother Down
These are the songs that I personally think sound better live, listened to them on the Wembley 86' CD.
Apart from the HS songs IMO these songs are much better when played live:
-Death on two legs
-Spread your wings
-Sheer heart attack
-Now I´m here
-Get down make love
Songs which are not as good live as on the albums in my opinion:
-The prophet´s song
-Love of my life(great live, but the studio version is even better IMO)
-´39
-Tie your mother down(I like the album cut with the intro)
-White men

Spread Your Wings @ New York 01/12/1977 rocks, as it's a rendition of the bbc version!
Very few sounded better live. In the lap of the Gods sounded a helluva lot better live at the Rainbow in '74 than the album because Freddie didn't modify his voice and Rogers scream was better than the album versions as well.
I've always liked Love Of My Life live better than the studio version. I love the arrangement with the guitar and above all I think Freddie sounds majestic when he sings this song live.
Fairy
Sheer Heart Attack, One Vision, Action This Day and Now I'm Here all have great energy when played live. Most of the Hot Space songs from Milton Keynes sound so much better than on the record, too.
Staying Power
Back Chat
Calling Alkl Girls
Life Is Real
Put Out The Fire
Under Pressure
White Queen
Spread Your Wings
See what A Fool I've Been
Tear It Up
I Want To Break Free
Get Down Make Love
You Take My Breath Away
Dreamer's Ball
Need Your Loving Tonight
Crazy Little Thing called Love
Another one Bites The Dust
Is This The World We Created...?
Hammer To Fall
Most of them are better because on albums the production sucks (everything from 80s)- live those songs were suddenly "alive"- Staying Power or hammer to Fall are great examples. White Queen was truly magical, same goes for Life Is Real (love Roger's harmonies on that one)
I forgot if you ever hear the BBC sessions for NOTW which I suppose can be considered "live" - everything on that set was better than on album - I really wish I had that session - can anybody help ?
Radio Ga ga during the Magic tour, esp knebworth.
