In freddie's boxset there's a picture from knebworth and you can see that in front of the stage there are two camera's!How is it possible that there is no footage from a concert that was filmed with at least two camera's!they throw the stuff they film away or what?
As is the case with Live Aid, Knebworth was shot with multi angles. However, like with Live Aid, the raw footage was not actually kept, it was just recorded 'as is'. So, an actual higher quality Knebworth does exist somewhere, but a re-edit would be impossible because the diff. angle outtakes don't exist.

Buy Rare Live and you'll see some footages. Or Magic Years Vol III.

yes ,I know but greg brooks said this is the only footage they have and I think that is really a pitty ,that's all

They can't edit it. There are no other angles to chose from- whatever was on the screen is probably all there is in the archives. I guess they could put it as a bonus somewhere... Especially that the audio is amazing

Greg said a lot of things, but some of them are not absolutely correct... However professional filming is longer than what we have on Rare Live. How much longer - no-one knows. Well, maybe except Greg again, but would he tell us? I don't know...
ah,thank you.now I understand:-)the audience participation is huge and would have been great if they could have made a dvd of it.on the other hand, they can release 2 magic gigs but not3 :-)and since budapest is great aswell...
Since the day i heard Under pressure from Knebworth (B-side to a winters tale, i guess!!), that i wait for a proper release! It´s just the BEST quality live audio sound that you can get from Queen. It´s just huge, and a great performance from the band as well!1
I remember when it was dicussed at this forum about the tapes that were lying at the Genesis studio. From what i´ve heard from Queen producer, he said that he was asked to treat the master tapes from Knebworth so they could pick a song for a B-side. At the time he said that he was given the total show from Knebworth (he never mentioned any missing tapes), and then he has sent those tapes to the Genesis studio for them to increase the quality of the audio, because they were experts doing this kind of stuff.
I´m hoping for a 20 year celebration release next year and because it was Freddie´s last performance with Queen i think it´s going to be release. And if they can´t make a proper DVD, at least they could throw footage as a bonus DVD for the CD release (like a 2CD/1DVD package). The footage we see in Rare Live is from a camera far away from the stage, but if at least they could find the footage from the other cameras that were filming the band to be Screen in that Huge screen above the stage, i think it could be donne something special with those images ( even though they couldn´t match Wembley as far as footage is concern.
As for the missing audio i thing it´s a brilliant idea to go get it from the tapes, like Bob Gueldof did with the concert from the Philadelphia show in the Live Aid DVD.
Take care

Greg is a liar.
please don't call people "liars" - he may be mistaken in what he knows, he may be stupid and arrogant...he may even be inaccurate, but that's not lying
The cameras were used only as a direct feed to the big screen. No tape was in the camera to actually record the concert as per Brian.
And the footage we've seen thus far was recorded by Rudi and Hannes.
Well said pow pow - there is another thread already about this, and Brian has confirmed that there is no footage, other than a few snippets that The Torpedo Twins recorded to use in future documentaries. The cameras were there to feed the live screens, but none of this was taped

I still can't believe they haven't got the footage from the big screens. I have seen shots from GSTQ, HTF and freddie greeting the audience after bohemian rhapsody that was shown on the big screens on the freddie mercury inserts on the tribute dvd!!Watch those inserts closely and you'll see footage from knebworth. Footage that was shown on the big screens. How is that possible when they didn't record the footage from the big screen?that's my question. I don't think the Doro cameramn had a link to the big screen.
