seeing as queen gave a spectacular performance at live aid do you think queen and paul rodgers will perform at live 8 even though he cannot even compete with freddie???

It would be nice if they did...Maybe they can show a clip Freddie on the screen.
Live 8 (much as I adore Freddie) is NOT about showing clips of deceased or past members.
At Live Aid, when Zeppelin played with Phil Collins on drums...they didn't show clips of John Bonham.
For crying out loud and for the zillionth time...as how many REPEAT Live 8 Topics have been created on evry forum...read those topics...
....This is NOT about whether or not Queen+Paul Rodgers is as good or not as Queen with Freddie, nor is it that way with ANY and ALL acts who play who don't have certain original members anymore, just like at Live Aid.
This is about...helping a benefit/worthy cause in the International arean that deserves the public's awareness and attention, and the best way to accompish that, is by bringing in music artists who are happy to help the goal, instead of blustery politicians.
Queen+Paul Rodgers should appear...however they can, live, via a satellite link, via a prerecorded video. I don't FNG care.
Just make the effort.
Again....Bob Geldof IS making an appearance at Queen's 46664 Arctic cooncert via either a satellite link or a prerecorded video.
So Queen+Paul Rodgers can and should rerurn the favor...and DO THE RIGHT THING...that's ALL that Live 8 is about.
I'd like to see a sattelite link from Queen + Paul Rodgers at Lisbon, with something like;
1. Fat Bottomed Girls
2. Wishing Well
3. Another One Bites The Dust
4. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
5. Under Pressure
I would love to see Queen + paul rogers play some part in live 8. Would be even better if John Deacon joined them on stage . I find it strange that since the 199 song . let me live john has been noted for his absence from roger and brian .Has anyone any thoughts on why this is ?
if they are in lisbon then it would be possible to satalite link them at a specific time .only prob with things on a grand scale is that the running order is not always correct / sometimes delayed . i think they have to book satalite time in advance
I definitely think they should do it via satellite...just knowing they will do it will generate interest worldwide and help Live 8 a lot....let's face it - we will all be tuned in....as will many others curious about the Queen + Paul Rodgers experience.......John has no interest so why should he be there....he's retired...as much as it would be cool to see him....he's probably not in playing mode or shape....I can't wait to see Queen + Paul Rodgers though....just hope they air that in North America...

QUEEN SCREEN DREAM
Band do Live 8 by satellite
THEY royally stole the show at Live Aid. Now, 20 years on, Queen hope to send us ga-ga again at Live 8 - even though their rock majesties can't be there in person.
The band - who are back together with Free's Paul Rodgers stepping into the stack-heeled shoes of the late, great Freddie Mercury - are playing in Portugal on July 2, when Live 8 takes place in London.
But they are so keen to take part in the spectacular gig, they are arranging a live satellite link-up from Lisbon's Estadio Restelo to Hyde Park.
Spokesman Phil Symes tells us: "The band are playing an outdoor concert on the same day. They are discussing featuring at Live 8 on a big screen."
Queen - who wowed the world at Live Aid with We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions and Radio Ga-Ga - might even play with pop hunk Robbie Williams.
Our Live 8 insider says: "Robbie is performing in Hyde Park and apparently wants to do We Will Rock You or We Are The Champions before his hit Angels. Who knows, he may end up collaborating with Queen via satellite. It'll be amazing. It's tragic that Freddie is no longer alive but Paul will do them proud."
We will all have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Yeah- I'll keep my fingers crossed that they're not going to do anything with robbie Williams... Stellite link- cool. BUT NOT ROBBIE- please!!! They finally got it RIGHT with Rodgers! Please, don't destroy it!

I don't think it'll be the same though, because Queen were the reason Live Aid was successful 20 years ago. Now Freddie isn't around any more, it'll never be the same...
Would b nice....she also said that CONTACTMUSIC did'nt have there facts straight about the current tour and the John Deacon reference.....
From Jen
Thanks Micky
Not yet confirmed.
The 'John Deacon' reference is because contactmusic haven't been paying
attention to the Queen tour. Lacking on 'doing their homework'./
Best wishes
