It gets on my nerves a bit that there are people who do the right thing, seed shows, share once they've downloaded etc...but are seemingly outnumbered by hit and run merchants who don't get the point of BitTorrent. For instance, I've uploaded 3.5GB of part 1 of Earl's Court SVCD, went off to get the Brian May DVD from DAD and the WWRY VCDs from here, and check the other torrents and there's only 1 seeder again. I've got to get to at least a share ratio of 1 on the Brian May DVD (preferably 2) before I can reseed anything else. The WWRY VCD has just started recently so will be slow to seed, by the time that is out there I wonder how many people will stay on? Essentially I think there are too many torrents for the number of committed seeders on here to maintain. Therefore torrents become dead far more quickly than they should. Just my 2d worth! |

I try to seed as much as I can but after a while I have to delete my files from my computer, as I share it with the rest of my family and I'm not allowed "clog up the computer with all my Queen crap".. their words not mine. It would be helpful if you guys could perhaps mention what things you want seeded? |

Sorry, I can't help you with any of them. :( Some I'm simply not downloading, some I'm struggling with myself, and 2 or 3, Shareaza keeps giving me an incomplete message whenever I attempt to seed... |
deleted user 01.06.2005 08:46 |
well i tired shazera or wotever and its a pain in the arse for me, so i use Azureus and it lets me seed some for so long then all of a sudden ERROR! but i try as much as possible! |

Taylorgaga - You should be more patient. You're trying to download too much at the one time. Try downloading 2 or 3 at once and your speed may rise considerably. 11 torrents running at once from the same tracker is silly. This will also hugely minimise your upload rate per torrent to other users. Also, how many completed torrents are you seeding. Unfortunately there are too many torrents being made available at the same time on this site. (I'm not questioning peoples generosity when I say this). This is why you are getting people closing a torrent quickly after downloading it, so as they can speed up the next torrent in there queue. I'm guessing there will soon be a ratio limit set which will be a huge step in chasing away greedy leechers. I'm hoping if there is, that the moderators will be strict in enforcing it. |

This kind of things use to happen to me too. But when I need seeders, I simply ask for them. And I always managed to complete my downloads and get to seed for the others. BUt I can't help you with any of your files, as I didn't d/load any of them. Oh and give up Shareaza. Try Bittornado (link instead. It works very well and it's easy to use and configure. By the way, as some ppl mentioned it already, d/loading so many torrents at a time is not the right thing to do. I usually d/load one at a time and after it's done I keep it open, so there are usually around 2 torrents open on my pc. And why don't you just join the hub? Many files are shared there also (Le Zenith'05, Osaka'82, Sheer Japan Attack and many others) and if you have problems with the torrent, the hub is the right palce for you! |

Begg, I know it's tempting to download everything, but with Bit Torrent, you have to pick and choose, giving consideration to your bandwidth limits. If you're downloading 10 torrents at once, you're download speed for each will be a fraction of what it could be and you will need seeders to hang around for a long, long time to allow you to finish, possibly causing them to miss out on the very files that you have queued up. In addition, your upload speed if usually only a quarter or less of your download speed with most commercial ISP's, so your own share ratio must be exceptionally poor and making you one of the most guilty people on the site. Wesi72 made a good point that there is so much being made available so quickly, but you can't criticise the generosity of the uploaders, just be more choosy. Believe me, one share ratio's come in, you will see a big difference. Mine is 1.5 on DAD, so to maintain that I have to upload around 6GB of the New Haven gig, which takes a long time on a 1Mb/s link with a max upload of 40Kb/s. |

ok i will be more careful in future, thanks for that. |
rachael mae. 02.06.2005 06:34 |
I see what you mean about downloading so many at once.. I'm d/l a lot at the minute, but as soon as they've finished, I'll refrain from d/l any more until I've seeded something. |

I know this is an older topic, but I've been downloading great videos from here but don't understand the "Leave your windows open' bit. I know it has to do with sharing, or rather, seeding, but what window do you mean? <blushes> The bit torrent window? If that's it, then I'm confused. Sometimes it takes days to download and indicates it'll take days to upload. Can I shut down and then reseed when I start up again or will it start from the beginning? Sorry for so many questions. I know there's a FAQ area, but I'm a technoretard and find all this so very confusing. I just want to give as much as I get from this fantastic site. |

I'M HOPING FOR SOMEONE TO SEED MELBOURNE 85. STUCK AT 40.6% |

One question: having the torrents waiting to be dowloaded also affects the speed of dowloading of a particular torrent? I agree there's lack of seeders!!I think some people just get the stuff and forget to share:( |

There are a lot of points in this very interesting thread that I’d like to say something on, for what it’s worth: 1. Lack of seeders – I couldn’t agree more. Like lots of other people I am waiting for Melbourne 85, Birmingham 84 snlf, Wembley 1980 etc etc. Despite repeated requests we re still waiting (hint, hint!). Asking – alas! – does not guarantee results. 2. This lack of seeders leads to a “now or never” approach when something new does come up – if you don’t download now, there won’t be any seeders around later when you can devote sufficient bandwidth. It would be nice to know you can go back to a torrent and download it whenever you want, but for the moment this is wishful thinking. 3. Similarly, if you look into the oldest torrent pages (which go back to June/July 2005, plus a few from 2004 which I’m happy to say have not “fallen off the edge”) there are several very good concerts I’d like to download, and I’m sure other people would like them as well – but will there be any seeders? These torrents should be kept in circulation and not be allowed to die. I’ll “launch” one separately as an example. 4. There are indeed lots of torrents in this forum, and I think this is a good thing. There are QZers who have been collecting for years and appear to have most of what’s available, but there are also a lot of recent joiners for whom anything is new. There is a lot of demand out there! 5. The fact that I have a lot of unfinished torrents doesn’t mean I’m running them all at the same time. In any case if there are no seeders does it make any difference? 6. Begg, I wish I could help you out, but I’m not sure I can. What is the “demo/studio live thing” you mentioned? Just my minor contribution to the debate… |
