Here's a copy of a mail I sent to Brian:
Dear Brian,
"I read your reply regarding the Live 8 concert being organised by Sir Bob
Geldof, but is there no way a satellite link can be sorted out for QPR to
perform a couple of songs from your gig in Portugal?
I'm sure Mr. Geldof would love to have Queen on the bill once again, and I'm
pretty sure yourself and the other members of the band would dearly love to put
some sort of input behind such an important cause.
All the best and good luck for the future!
/Nick Armstrong"
Well, in my opinion, I think all effort should be made for "Queen 2005" to be a part of this historic day!
Maybe if enough people send e-mails with the same sort of idea as myself, who knows, the great Mr. May might sort something out. I propose that everyone who would like to see "QPR" at Live 8 via some sort of satellite link should let their feelings known to Mr. May at the following e-mail: brians.soapbox@clara.co.uk
Let's get on his case!!!!

I was just thinking this this morning and i personally think that there will be some sort of link up via satellite being the most obvious one considering they are playing lisbon the same day, i would love to see them included in the bill and i would bet that something like that will happen but we will just have to see what brian says on the matter.
I distinctly remember a one Phil Collins playing two gigs on the original Live Aid day. Only difference was they were on the other side of the world from each other. Portugal is only 2 hours away from London.
well the concerts will be long so the band have the time to record a few songs from the gig and then transport them to hyde park.
lets say
reachin out/TYMD
boh rap
all right now
WWRY
WATC
whatever happens i bet the press and music critics etc compare it to live-aid..
hey just imagine if freddie was still with us and queen were topping the g8 concert wooooow what a show that would of been folks:)
Listen - Live 8 should just be a stadium of people watching the Queen part of the Live Aid DVD. It won't be worth watching no-talent bums like Elton John and Robbie Williams go on stage because they suck.
Maybe..Queen+Paul Rodgers should extend the hand of good will, and OFFER to play to Bob Geldof...as this is for charity/benefit/good cause.
Do the right thing...and offer/ask to perform.
IF Brian & Queen+Paul Rodgers TRULY wanted to play Live 8...they can STILL play Lisbon the same day and jump a chopper or plane to also play at Live 8.
Phil Collins played at BOTH London & Philly, USA the same day on 2 continents at the Original Live Aid..and I'm sure that was NOT easy. Taking the Concord notwithstanding...due to a terribly exhausting and demanding literally to the second time constrant, shuttles from and to each airport, differences in time zones, jet lag ...set up of instruments/equipment/sound/lighting, etc...
....and Collins played several sets at Wembley/London both solo, and with Sting,...
...then in the USA in Philly with Eric Clapton & then with Led Zeppelin.
....This would be an extremely WORTHY gig for Queen+Paul Rodgers...show they are not just about money...and doing it for a good cause that tons of International artists are also doing out of good will to help the cause at hand...
...as well as being excellent International exposure for Queen+Paul Rodgers...so if they REALLY wanted to do it...they easily could. Lisbon ain't near as far from London...or any of the other Live 8 cities' concerts in Berlin, Paris, Rome...they could do those too..or London.
.....If Queen+Paul Rodgers can't be in BOTH Lisbon & London, then do the satellite hookup from Lisbon.
...In 1985, at Live Aid INXS did a satellite hookup/link from Australia and Autograph did a satellite hookup/link from Russia...Come on Queen+Paul Rodgers get with the program!!!!

If they don't show Queen + PR via satellite link, they should atleast play a few songs of Queen from their '85 performance.

Showing clips from Live Aid...is not what Live 8 is about. It's a NEW and unique concert event comprising NEW current performances.
If Queen+Paul Rodgers can't do it...then that will have to be the way it goes...but they seriously should think about the importance of showing artist solidarity and good will to a cause that International artists from all realms of music (hey...they even got Andrea Bocelli & Zucherro, classical artists..even) performing all over the world..are doing.
BTW................ALL OF QZ................
.......Bob Geldof IS participating in 46664 Arctic...he can't personally be there...so he is doing a satellite link or a video clip to be shown... to help Queen+Paul Rodgers and Nelson Mandela.
So Queen+Paul Rodgers should return the favor and do Live 8!!!!!!
I always download concerts at night so when it finishes downloading it's just left open from when I leave my comp to when I next go to the computer so that could be anything between 8 hours and about 12 hours. Everyone who has unlimited internet time should do this when they go to bed.
A via satellite link its the best option.
I dont think they can play the two venues, and really i don´t think they should. As i said earlier with the new technologies its easy for Queen to participate on Live 8 from Lisbon. I´m going to the Lisbon concert and i really expect them to play 100% of their capabilities. It was an expensive ticket and in my opinion it would be a very damanding week for them if they play two gigs in one day (look at their ages).
Brian has problems in is left hand fingers, so i really think the satellite link is the best option.
Take care
Let's get the facts straight the Live 8 concert will grow all sorts of arms and legs from now until showtime and it is bound to be (given the publicity at the moment) a monumental gig - forget the Live Aid comparisons.
Roger, Brian and I am sure Paul will all want to play London and basically they should. It is for a great cause and they would be welcomed open-armed! Simply postopone the Portugal gig until later in the year - there is no shame in this given the circumstances!
I'm gonna cry if Queen aren't there. Oh yeah and regards the satellite link - bad idea! Who remembers INXS from Live Aid or U2 for that matter at another massive gig in 1992..! Gotta be live and present to get the attention!!
