Surely Hyde Park is sufficiently large to accomodate a helicopter to whisk them off to Heathrow where they could borrow Elton's jet to fly to Portgual? |

I am very disappointed that Roger and Brian cannot see the logic in taking part in this. There is ample argument to cancel Portugal and re-run this gig at a later date. Live 8 will be an historic event and it seems ridiculous that Queen will not be represented. |

Really, why cancel a show to be at Live 8? They can´t recreate the 85 performance, and by the way there will be there a Guy who´s name is Robbie Williams that will play Freddie´s role very well by singuing WATC or WWRY. I don´t think they will be miss that much by non Queen fans. I´ve got the ticket for Lisbon since March, so... And believe me, there´s no argument at all to cancel the show in Portugal! As i said before, if they want Queen to participate on Live 8 then it´s easy. Just put their Lisbon concert on air Via satelite like INXS in Live Aid´85. With new technologies it´s very easy. Or simply add the concert to the Live 8 list. And i´m not being sarcastic, Queen don´t need to be in Britain to participate. But to cancel the gig?- I don´t think so... Just doesn´t sound pleasant. TAke care |

They were talking about it on the news and they started off with a clip of Freddie on the piano playing B.R at live aid. They better recognize. |

Impossible!Yeah, I guess, it would be too sad without Freddie. |

None of you have actually grasped that the whole point to the Live 8 thing is raising awareness of the poverty crisis in Africa. It's NOT about whether Queen are any good or whether they can re-create what happened at Live Aid. It's not even about ANY of the bands that appear on the day. However, what you have done here is to precisely pin down the reason that ANY of the bands will show up on the day - as they did at Live Aid - simply to promote their own careers by agreeing to appear at a charity show. |

im not really bothered about queen not bieng there. But iam annoyed by the fact POP singers are going to be there miming to thier singles and adding the odd occasional word here and there. cmon at least geldof can bring in bands like Velvet revolver or metallica into the frame. the only band that i like thats in the concert is U2 |
boca 01.06.2005 07:03 |
I think Live 8 should be cancellend to wait Queen to finish their gig... :) |

BANDS PLAYING IN LONDON Mariah Carey Coldplay Dido Keane Sir Elton John Annie Lennox Sir Paul McCartney Muse Razorlight REM Scissor Sisters Snow Patrol Stereophonics Sting Joss Stone Robbie Williams U2 Velvet Revolver Bob Geldof The Killers Madonna The Cure I can see only three performers with whom there is a chance that they don't write their own material (Mariah Carey, Joss Stone, Madonna) and if you think anyone will be miming then you must have some common sense and realise this wouldnt be acceptable. As it has been said above, this is about raising awareness and quality matters not, the amount of high profile performers is what matters. |

That's one boring looking bill. Robbie Williams should be taken out and shot. |

What you'll find is that Geldof has deliberately stayed away from the big names. People like The Stones, Queen, The Who, Page/Plant and the other "NAMES" that made Live Aid such a spectacle. Simply because he knows that the artists he HAS chosen are *surrent* and seen by today's audiences as being into this kind of cause. The fact is that Bono, Geldof, Mcartney and Madonna all have an unbelieveable amount of money sitting int heir bank accounts - you don't see them donating all their money to save Africa, do you? Why the fuck should ANY government cancel a countrie's overseas debt just because they either can't control their government's spending and / or can't stay away from cival wars / conflict and / or can't stop screwing long enough to prevent AIDS from spreading throughout the population? Is my bank going to cancel out the money I owe on a credit card? I don't create wars or give people AIDS - surely I should be rewarded for that? Or perhaps the solution IS for me to spread disease or start a cival war....... "It's all so fucking predictable". |

Or perhaps the solution IS for me to spread disease or start a cival war....... "It's all so fucking predictable".1) While I totally agree with every point you made, I do agree that there are millions of innocent people in Africa who don't start the civil wars or spread AIDS, many infants and children..so why should they suffer? But I think cancelling the debt is only a temporary salve for now...and the people of Africa just never try to progress out of their own dictatorship run nations, and AIDS actually..BEGAN in Africa...from the filth there as did a far more dangerous plague... ...Ebola..which if that ever gets to any nation outside of Africa, it would wipe out the world's population. I think Geldof and company should use this to riase awareness, not just to Africa's plight... (I was originally under the impresion that this was about GLOBAL poverty)... ..but yes..poverty everywhere. Here in the USA, the richest nation in the world, you have what they now call the working homeless and impoverished. People and families working full time jobs, sometimes 2 & 3 jobs, with NO health care, no home, living on the streets, eating at churches and shelters, or with children going to bed hungry and the homeless dying/freezing on the streets here in the winter months...and it's the same in western nations in Europe like the U.K. 2) Geldof should revise this to be about that NO human on this planet that is not a war mongerer or terrorist, but responsible, everyday people worldwide...no one ahould ever have to worry about as you said debt, no food, no shelter, no healthcare. It's a scandal. And I want to help the people of Africa...but..what's the old saying? Give a man a fish, he has food for a day or a meal for a day. TEACH a man to fish...and he will go hunger free for all the days of his life. The initiative should be to TEACH the people of Africa how to develop and progress their agriculture, technolgy, healthcare, and downright common sense education...to take care of themselves. The USA...and the U.K and Western world was made up..of immigrants from thousands of years ago. Who the heck taught us how to farm, develop agriculture/crops and food, invent technology and advanced heathcare...NO-ONE!!!! We all did it ourselves, with motivation, trial & error. We lived with horrifying diseases that killed millions like polio, diptheria, whooping cough, scarlet fever,....so WE INVENTED vaccines to cure them. We had cholera and typhus that killed people due to filthy conditions. We LEARNED to use clean living conditions and treated water systems, and sewage treatment sytems, etc. We had people running amuck when the pilgrims and settlers first came to the USA killing each other...rememeber the lawless old west..where there were no laws..or when the USA had slavery? We came up to speed and LEARNED those things were WRONG! No one taught us..we taught ourselves |

And i think that Paul needs a breack from all that crap. At this point i think everybody knows about poverty in the world, and as Queen fans we don´t want them to be there because of poverty. We want them in Live 8 just to see them top the charts and tape their performance! I´m sorry if this is offensive to anybody but its what i think. Really, is there going to be a diference the way we (Queen fans) deal with poverty if they play at live 8? -NO!! It will raise millions to the music business that day, and the next day everything is going back to normal. If leaders in the world want to help, then they help. They dont guive a fuck for rock artists and they wont be intimidated unless people who are going to watch the concert ( billion) do something about it. But even so, i think we (Queen fans or not) should be ashamed as a world society if the only thing that start us up to help our brothers and sisters dying in Africa and around the world is a rock concert. So, to put such a responsability in Queen shoulders, like saying they should play it for charity- "The world needs you" its not a very pleasant thing to do. We should all do our bit. But hey, i can be wrong and this time its really going to be it... Take care |

Can I just say that after WW1, Germany were made to pay for the damages of the war. However not long after they started paying people realiszed they couldn't pay it back so canceled it. But when a country has done nothing to otherselves (UK) and they can't pay back the money there's alot of "well...........erm..........". |
