Get the UK Magazine Arena...Star Wars Cover Story has 2 Collectible Covers Ewan McGregor & Hayden Christiansen with great interviews with both of them. Like I said I'll go into detail about the film tomorrow. But I can say I both Loved and was simultaneously dissapointed in the film...different point parts of the film. I can say, that I felt no matter what...for me, and this is just my personal opinion is all, that the unspeakable evil of Anakin slaughtering the Jedi children younglings...and something I did not know about,.... .... which was when he tried to choke Padme who he knew was pregnant with his child/children...and ... ....(yes I know Anakin had turned to the dark side which was controlling him and making him do evil things..even to Padme, and he was angry and jealous that he thought she had betrayed him etc., yada, yada)... ...but rememeber,... ... of the MANY OTHER things as well that caused his turn to the dark side...the MAIN reason was still his love for Padme and fear of her dying and trying to SAVE her life (though a possessive, jealous, controlling love as Yoda told Anakin when Anakin confessed his premonition of her death to Yoda)... ...I still felt that the butchering Anakin did to the Jedi younglings and ...especially choking Padme...totally CONTRADICTED and made me lose ALL sympathy I did have for him (of which I had NONE at the film's end)... ...and CONTRADICTED Anakin's redemption when saving Luke in Return Of The Jedi...damn, Anakin nearly killed Luke & Leia, when he choked Padme... This now ruins the end of Return of The Jedi for me...I don't feel he Anakin could be redeemed for the genocidal slaughterings of children that he did...and for choking Padme. And when The Emporer told the then Darth Vader that Darth's anger had killed Padme (yes I know it didn't, she was still alive at the time, and The Emporer did that so Anankin's/Darth's distress and self loathing would make his dark side stronger..I did NOT feel sorry for him when he yelled NOOOOOOO.......... I thought Lucas went way over the edge making Anakin NOT sympathetic, but a child killing genocidal butcher who even almost killed the person he loved most...Padme. I also thought Natalie Portman gave the most stiff cardboard performance I have ever seen. On the bright side...Thought Hayden Christensen's acting has DRAMATICALLY and WONDERFULLY developed, matured, and improved...more so when he was showing the GOOD side of his friendship with Obi Wan and his love for Padme, loved Ewan McGregor, Loved the interplay brotherly ribbing/banter script and acting between Hayden & Ewan. Thought the loving friendship interplay between Yoda & Chewbacca & the wookies was wonderful..made me CRY when Chewbacca hoisted Yoda on his shoulder whan Yoda slayed the assasins, and when Yoda bade farewell to Chewbacca and Chewie's friend when Yoda had to leave their planet. Thought YODA/Frank Oz practically stole the film...from introspective, thoughtfil ruminations and true love, caring for his Jedi comrades, the Senate, Padme, Anakin, Obi Wan, Chewbacca, and the Wookies..to his light saber duel with Darth Sideous...Yoda kicked ass!!!! Loved when Yoda always knew, just by the look on his face, or when he stumbled, or laying his hand on his head, that terrible things..death, betrayal, pain, suffering were happening among the galaxy...with Anakin, the Jedi's etc. Cried when Luke & Leia were born and when they were delivered to Senator & Queen Organa, & Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru. LOVED all the love scenes betwen Anankin & Padme, especially when he first sees her in the film's beginning after he has been off to war for so long and you can feel their love for one another and she tells him she is pregnant and he tells her it's the happiest moment in his life. Thought the light saber duel with Obi Wan & the four armed/sabered general Greivous was the best in the film, INCRE |

Yes!! My hubby and I saw it a couple of days ago - it was brilliant!!! Wondering now if this is the last or whether Mr Lucas will attempt the back three? |
Hitman 30.05.2005 18:48 |
well the funniest moment of the movie is when they dress Darth Vader and he moves like Frankenstein Natalie POrtman acting is nothing more than the bold and the beautiful soap opera....while in other movies she's a decent actress |
dragonzflame 30.05.2005 19:02 |

Arlene R. Weiss wrote: I can say, that I felt no matter what...for me, and this is just my personal opinion is all, that the unspeakable evil of Anakin slaughtering the Jedi children younglings...and something I did not know about,....To me this was one of the best scenes from the movie. It truly showed that Anakin's evil side had taken all over him. After all, if someone can blow up an entire planet like Darth Vader did with Alderaan on Ep. IV, he sure wouldn't mind slicing up a couple dozen kids. Arlene R. Weiss wrote: .... which was when he tried to choke Padme who he knew was pregnant with his child/children...and (yes I know Anakin had turned to the dark side which was controlling him and he was angry and jealous that he thought she betrayed him etc., yada, yada)...but rememeber,... ... of the MANY OTHER things as well that caused his turn to the dark side...the MAIN reason was still his love for Padme and fear of her dying and trying to SAVE her life (though a possessive, jealous, controlling love as Yoda told Anakin when Anakin confessed his premonition of her death to Yoda)... ...I still felt that the butchering Anakin did to the Jedi younglings and ...especially choking Padme...totally CONTRADICTED and made me lose ALL sympathy I did have for him (of which I had NONE at the film's end)... ...and CONTRADICTED Anakin's redemption when saving Luke in Return Of The Jedi...damn, Anakin nearly killed Luke & Leia, when he choked Padme...There's two ways how you can see this, one is that Anakin has always had a naturally evil side stronger than his good side, which some people believe it's true. The other one (which most people believe) is that Anakin's weaknesses lead him to sell his body and soul to the Dark Side from the moment when he bowed down to Darth Sidious and pledge his alliegance to him... which then would contradict the reason why he screamed in anger after knowing that Padme had died. It showed that he still had feelings. Arlene R. Weiss wrote: This now ruins the end of Return of The Jedi for me...I don't feel he Anakin could be redeemed for the genocidal slaughterings of children that he did...and for choking Padme. When Padme was about to give birth to the twins, the Medical Droid said that medically she was fine, but for unknown reasons they were losing her as if she has lost her will to live. Arlene R. Weiss wrote: I thought Lucas went way over the edge making Anakin NOT sympathetic, but a child killing genocidal butcher who even almost killed the person he loved most...Padme.That's the main reason why Darth Vader is the most popular villain in the history of filmaking. He's cold, heartless, ruthless, and full of hatred. A compassionate villain is just simply boring. Arlene R. Weiss wrote: I also thought Natalie Portman gave the most stiff cardboard performance I have ever seen. That I totally agree with. The most boring moment of them movie was this stupid dialogue: ANAKIN: I love you PADME: Why do you love me? ANAKIN: Because you're beautiful ( YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWNNN!! ) Arlene R. Weiss wrote: On the bright side...Thought Hayden Christensen's acting has DRAMATICALLY and WONDERFULLY developed, matured, and improved...more s |

Lovey-dovey scenes between Anakin and Padmé were put in the film to give the viewer a very large impression of each's feelings for one another. This way, come the end of the film, it aids to give us an image of how much Anakin love's her and how much he wants to save her. And as for the part when Anakin force grips Padmé - it is there to show how, in Anakin's mind, she had broken his heart by bringing Obi-Wan and betraying him (as in Padmé was the last bright light he had, and now he couldn't trust her etc.). |

If you read what I said in my post...I KNOW Anakin's choking Padme...did NOT kill her. As the medic/Dr. said. she was perfectly healthy. Basically she died..of a broken heart, from witnessing how evil Anakin had become, and the evil he had administered throughout the galaxy, what had become of his soul, his good heart...was forever lost and gone. So as the Dr. said, "Padme had lost the will to live." Also...I thought also that the light saber duel w/Anakin & Obi Wan by the time it got to the lava pits and the floating platforms (which btw were rather CHEESY looking special effects..the platforms that is,) it was getting overwroght and overdone. Also thought that Darth Vader's stumbling off the medic table for the first time...now I read that George Lucas wanted Hayden Christensen to do that to show that Darth had not yet acclimated to walking properly in this metal suit, iron lung, etc. which is fine..but it was WAY overdone and clunky and downright LAUGHABLE like a bad B ripoff of a Frankenstein movie. Oh..I LOVED R2-D2 throughou the film, especially at the opening rescue of Palpitane where R2 helps Anakin & Obi Wan like a Jedi master to save the day himself! One of my FAVORITE dramatic scenes...where Hayden truly showed his range as an actor...when Mace Windu is dueling with Palpitane...and Anakin knows/senses it...is wrestling with his own thoughts that Palpitane is evil, is a Sith Lord, and should be arrested, but then he worries that if anything bad should happen to Palpitane...who would TEACH Anakin the ways of the dark side????... ...so that Anakin could save Padme from death????... You keep seeing the camera cut to Anakin's face, growing more distressed... and you keep seeing camera cuts to Padme's face... the music grows heavy and introspective and eerie... ...and you see Anakin's face once more...as a Teardrop rolls down his face... ...as he is TORN between what is RIGHT (arresting and taking all political power away from the evil Palpitane/Darth Sideous)..and what he feels he MUST do (save Palpitane and allign with Palpitane to learn the dark side of the force, to hopefully save Padme from death)...and he takes his space pod to run to Windu & Palpitane. Then when he sees Windu has won the duel with Palpitane, but that Windu knows he can't arrest Palpitane since Palpitane controls the courts and Senate..so Windu says he will have to kill Palpitane... ...you see again the look on Anakin's face...he is torn...still, between what is RIGHT and what he MUST do...and he begs Windu NOT to kill Palpitane...yelling "I need him". ...When he thinks Windu will kill Anakin's only hope of saving Padme....Anakin helps to kill Windu...then weary from and as if in self loathing but unbearable possessive love and fear of losing Padme..and himself in the process of trying to save her..Anakin sinks to his knees, almost in shame...and pledges his alleigance to Palpitane. LOVED it! |
