I think brian is better-what about you? |
Scott_Mercury 29.05.2005 21:55 |
Roger... without a shadow of a doubt. Neither are in Freddie's league. Neither are in Paul Rodgers league. But at least Roger has a real distinct rasp. Brian's voice really does nothing for me. |
Son Of Deacon 29.05.2005 22:04 |
yeah, roger is good as well, both brilliant,i wouldlove to hear john singing though |
The Real Wizard 29.05.2005 22:29 |
Roger has a stronger voice, but I find Brian sings with more emotion... since that's the #1 thing I look for in a singer, I prefer Brian. |
deleted user 29.05.2005 23:02 |
It depends on the mood of song you are looking to listen to. I find both of their voices rather nice. Brians can sound like more of a soothing storytelling voice whereas Rogers varies. Raspy at times, but that fits very well. |
Knute 29.05.2005 23:13 |
I agree with Sir GH. Roger is technicaly more sound but Brian is more emotive. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 29.05.2005 23:45 |
I like both their voices - Roger's has a raspier quality that's perfect for rock, but there's something about Brian's I like more. The emotion he puts in is great. |
Yogurt 30.05.2005 00:15 |
I like both. They both have good quality in them for different reasons. |

peanut_pie 30.05.2005 04:14 |
Roger. Only because I can not get through Brian's 1st solo record 'Back to Light" without pulling clumps of hair. Just listen to 'Love Token'. At least with Roger, on 'Strange Frontier" or "Happiness", one can get through these in one sitting. Roger just needs a throat lozenge. Brian, unfortunately, needs stronger vocal chords. |
Daburcor? 30.05.2005 04:32 |
Sir GH

ah yeah
wrote: Roger has a stronger voice, but I find Brian sings with more emotion... since that's the #1 thing I look for in a singer, I prefer Brian.I agree 100%! Though I DO like Rogers voice... Though, I didn't until a few months ago. ;p |
i'm going slight mad... 30.05.2005 04:34 |
roger! i'm definately (sp?) in the roger camp as i think its a really sexy raspy, gravelly voice. mmm... |
rachael mae. 30.05.2005 05:01 |
Hmmm... like others have said it really does depend on the song.. but I have to say Brian.. :) |

Roger |
deleted user 30.05.2005 05:51 |
i think Brianns is far too squeeky for most tracks, take tie your mother down and too much love will kill you performed at the Freddie Merc Tribute Gig, killed my ears, Roger on the other hand is a brill voice, always great to hear his voice at a concert! |
willem-jan 8923 30.05.2005 06:59 |
I prefer Roger as a backing singer to the Queen songs (especially live)because it's more distinct, adds more to the "complete" sound. On the non-Freddie Queen studio songs I also prefer Roger. On solo songs, Brian is the better singer I think. He picks songs that fit better to his voice then Roger does. |

Roger |
james gaden 2072 30.05.2005 08:19 |
Roger all the way. His backing singing complemented Freddie perfectly live. Brian's voice is very weak - he usually does a reasonble job but Roger buries him. JG |
rc 30.05.2005 08:40 |
brian is not a very good singer...on the studio version of who wants to live he sounds dreadfully out of tune in a few parts. |
aries 30.05.2005 09:51 |
Roger is better. He's got such a strong voice with characteristic hoarseness. I like Brian's songs but I don't like his singing. I just can't get used to it. |
deleted user 30.05.2005 10:24 |
Roger's a very good singer. And I also think he has the best solo carreer. I mean Happiness? is in my top 5 under Led Zeppelin 4. |
Live Killer 30.05.2005 10:50 |
Roger has a much stronger voice and I like his voice more. |
jeff payne 1680 30.05.2005 11:07 |
Mix them together with a 1 Freddie Mercury bliss |
Sandys 30.05.2005 11:30 |
I think there's no "good singer" or "better singer"... both are great, is just that BM and RT have very different voices and songs... I love Brian´s voice... just listen Too Much Love... of BacktoTheLight, and his voice makes me cry...On the other hand, Roger has a... I don't know.. he can take really high notes, and that just makes me nuts. bye! |
Mrs Taylor 05 30.05.2005 12:08 |
I like them both equally but for different reasons. Brian is a nice singer, very smooth voice and Roger is really raspy, v. v. sexy !!!!!!! |
Eviltwin 30.05.2005 12:55 |
i personally think that Brian is a better singer. (Roger always sounds like he has a sore throat.) |
The Leader 30.05.2005 13:20 |
Ever wondered why this guy called Freddie Mercury was their lead singer?! |
pirrakitas 30.05.2005 13:43 |
Roger. It is almost as important to the Queen vocal sound as Freddie! Imagine Radio GaGa in the Magic tour without Roger's voice. And many more examples .... |
k-m 30.05.2005 14:19 |
Roger. Brian has a very weak voice, although he's not bad on ballads. I wish Freddie sang "Driven By You" - it would be so much better! |
Hildur. 30.05.2005 15:24 |
Roger :) |
Vad 30.05.2005 16:26 |
Brian. |
All Dead 30.05.2005 16:29 |
They are both magnificent singers.. Not in Freddie's leage, of course not. But to me, Brian has a better quality for soloing in softer songs, Roger's has more of a rock quality to it. It's a very hard decission of which I can't choose since they have different voice qualities. But Roger's is by far sexier. :P |
*3*Playful as a pussycat 30.05.2005 16:34 |
huhn...i do think that Roger has a very sexi voice but i prefer Brian more...i agree, he sings with more emotion and just has a soft sweetness about him |
garden gnome 05 30.05.2005 16:44 |
I like both their voices, however, Roger is, IMO, by far the better singer, his voice is much stronger, as someone said before, Brian's voice can get very squeaky and it's quite unreliable live. |
KillarQueen 30.05.2005 17:01 |
Personaly I think it's Brian. But if Freddie hadn't joined after Tim Staffell left Smile (they wouldn't be called Queen and they would probebly suck now but whatever) then I think Roger would have taken the place of lead singer mainly because his voice is more capibel of doing extravaganzic stuff (spelung is way off there sorry). Brian is good for soft stuff but Roger's voice is just plain better for rock. |
mvannierop 30.05.2005 17:58 |
Roger is a better singer, I think. If you'd listen to his solo stuff and then Brian's stuff...you would know. Maybe I say this because i'm a drummer too :) and play shitty guitar. |
tupincs 31.05.2005 05:42 |
Roger |
kerfuffle87 31.05.2005 07:25 |
i have to disagree (sorry!) with those who say only Brian sings with emotion. i may have agreed with you before I saw 46664 - but ever since I heard Roger sing 'Say It's Not True' I'd have to say that they are on a par with each other regarding emotion. Roger, however IMO has the STRONGER voice with a wider range, as does this guy called Freddie...can't remember his last name for the life of me... |
Mr Drowse 31.05.2005 07:49 |
Roger! No, wait -Brian. No, Roger. Then again, Brian.. Eh, I guess Roger. Did I say Roger? I meant Brian. Oh f'%$ it I just can't decide. Now seriously, I think I prefer Roger because he can vary his voice from raspy Rock 'n Roll to those high notes that I love so much. |
dimcyril 31.05.2005 09:14 |
both are great, personally i prefer roger. he has more blues in his voice |
Rogerina84 31.05.2005 10:16 |
Roger absolutely! Well I like also Brian's voice coz is so sweet, but Roger's voice is stronger and more powerful and when he reaches those high notes...mmmm... just love it! |
