This norwegian band is playing at the mandela concert. If any Queen fans plan to watch this concert I would like to advice you some downloads :)
First of all. My second favourite band after Queen are kaizers orchestea so I am biased :P Their lyrics are inspired about the second world war, and things that went on back then. Their musicstyle is hard to describe. But rock'n roll spiced with influences of gypsi music. And one of their main trademarks is the use of Pump organ. I think it sounds awsome.
Check out songs like: Ompa til du dør, Kontroll på kontinentet, 170, min kvite russer, De involverte.
A fan made this flashvideo of "djevelens orkester" (The devils orchestra) : link
Yes, they are great!
I've seen them on a couple of festivals last year and immediately bought the Ompa Til Du Dor album. It's great. Very good and very energetic live act too!
I know them too :) I have their album Evig Pint. I did discover them once while looking at the albums in one store in Muenster (Germany). When I heard how they sound I had no doubt - I bought the album immediately. (they remind me of a Croatian band called Let 3, but chances you heard of them are more than small :)
If you know more about them can you tell me how are the other albums when compared to Evig Pint?
Evig Pint is their second album released in 2003. The "Ompa til du dør" album is far superior compard to "Evig Pint". Both are good, but the debut is best by far! :)

These are all ace songs from the first album.
They have just completed the recording of their 3rd album called Maestro. It will be releaed in September in Europe.
Another Roger (re) wrote: Wow jeroen! I didnt expect anyone had heard of them on the board. Are you by any chance norwegian? :)
No, I'm from the Netherlands,
But I absorb quite a lot of music ;-)
They played some Dutch festivals and the first time I saw them they already left enough of an impression for me to love them. I just asked a fan which album to buy and he advised me 'Ompa'. Great record; good music and very funny lyrics. (Actually when you read out loud, Norwegian is amazingly understandable for Dutchies!)
And they are nice lads too; I got to meet them after the show ;-)
But I understand from your words that even in Norway they are not very well known?
OK, so "Ompa til du dør" is what I will try to find tomorrow in the store :) "Evig Pint" was great to me so I have no doubt this one as debut will be great too. Thanks!
jeroen: In Norway they are huge. They can sell out every place they want to. They sold almost 100.000 of the first album. Thats massive for in a country with 4 mill people.
And norwegian IS very understandable. At least many many words. Some words can almost be translated directly to enlish. Examples:
Kontroll = Control
Kontinetet: Continent
Ompa = Ompa
God dag = Good day
Fredag= Friday
Torsdag = Thursday
Monday=Mandag
Tirsdag = Tuesday
So the list goes on. many many words really..
