...George Michael as singer? I've evaluated your answers from the Forum post "Freddie Mercury Memorial Day". The most favorite singer of that concert is George Michael. Most of you wrote, that he is your favourite. So why isn't George with Queen on tour? I'm sure they would be better. Because George Michael has an incredible power, nearly as Freddie.

There was a thread about two days ago... About Gary Charone. Are we gonna have tomorow another one: why didn't they take Ozzy Osbourne?
Oh hey look at that! That's really a joke!
I mean George is gay, but not a stupid person!
So why he should touch mrs.aunt Deacon...really a bad joke!
If John has a problem with himself...that's his problem...but anyway...he isn't in the band anymore...we believe in George and Freddie!
We also thought awhile back that Rob Halford from Judas Priest would have been a great choice...they would have sold a ton of tickets for that here in the US. He and Freddie even had the same leather getup :)
I guess John wouldn't have liked the gay thing tho :)

Well, it's not so long ago that he had an new album...
Wham that's it!
But he's publically said he doesn't like touring and won't do tours to support his album sales.
I've said it before, GM did great at the tribute, but he would not fit the rock oriented songs which were the back bone of Queen shows, and particularly this latest tour. PR can do those songs. Interestingly, he doesn't really do the type of songs GM could do (TATDOOL etc)!!!
ok. I think the reason is, that George don't want to tour. But generally he's the better singer (and specially for Queen-Songs) than PR.
I think they shouldn't search a "double" of Freddie. And George isn't one, but the voice and his power is similar to Freddie.
But in fact, Freddie is irreplaceable!
for the first decade after Freddie passed, for one, George Michael was an established solo star and artist and didn't want to be part of a band.
He wanted his own solo success, which he had.
After several very acrimonious legal and creative battles with his first record label, Sony, then his 2nd record label, Dreamworks, he made some statements in the press as to how disillusioned he is with the current state of the plastic assembly line music & recording industry and the cutthroat tactics of all record labels...
...so he is "retired" now from the music business.
Personally...I think with his love for music and performing...this is not the last you will have heard from Michael. I think he is trying to start his own record label, where he has 100% creative, legal, financial control...and he will be making music again.
I also would not be surprised if he showed up for his good friends...Elton John, and Bob Geldof..to perform at Live 8 (Michael performed with Elton at Live Aid).
Yes...George was on stage with Elton...but Elton made a big mistake with that what he said to the press. And I heard, that don't take off the phone, when Elton is calling him...
But I think, for Bob Geldof would it be nice...
