As you may know, as opposed to releasing a lvie album of just a single concert, some artists will release a collection of songs performed at many different times/locations on a sort of "best-of live performances." Two good examples of this are the "Best of Bruce Springsteen Live 1975/1985" and Queen's "Live Killers," which chronicled the Jazz tour. Now, wouldn't it be magnificent if Queen released such an album that encompassed their entire career? Queen were one of the greatest live bands--if not THE greatest live band--ever. Such an album, because it is a "Best Of," what get the attention of the "general interest" and "casual interest" fans, delivering to them not only Queen's greatest hits but also other songs that were equally incredible--especially when performed live. It would give AMERICA especially a grand document of what made Queen so awesome. With most songs, their live performances were 100x better than the studio versions (some notable exceptions, of course). Even if the album didn't have the unique flow of a Queen concert, it would showcase Queen's eclectism but display (especially to AMERICAN fans) their hard rock edge and the raw power and energy they would put into live performances. Their songs, performed live, always stood well on their own anyway. It would be Queen Unleashed upon people. Basically a definitive document of why their songs were great, why they were a great live band and why they could rock with the best of them. It could be a double-album, like Greatest Hits I & II. The track listing could look something like this-- 1. One Vision 2. Tie Your Mother Down 3. Somebody to Love 4. I'm In Love With My Car 5. Death On Two Legs 6. Get Down Make Love 7. Seven Seas of Rhye 8. Another One Bites the Dust 9. Under Pressure 10. I Want To Break Free 11. Now I'm Here 12. Save Me 13. Guitar Solo 14. Love Of My Life 15. Stone Cold Crazy 16. Fat-Bottomed Girls 17. Don't Stop Me Now 18. Spread Your Wings 19. Keep Yourself Alive 20. Bohemian Rhapsody 21. Radio Gaga 22. Hammer to Fall 23. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 24. Sheer Heart Attack 25. We Will Rock You 26. We Are the Champions 27. God Save the Queen I think such a document would do wonders (well, it would do some good) for them in America, and it could be heavily promoted. If they chose to tour here in the fall, it could be in support of such an album. Please discuss. |

providing they note which concerts the songs were recorded from, it sounds an idea for a US only release. |
NTL 22.05.2005 08:46 |
Yes it would be a great idea, but if it did ever happen it is almost certain you would get a collection of songs from Killers, MK and Wembley because they are too tight and too lazy too look for GREAT versions of these song which exist in the archives. |

No. Release a 2 or 3 concert set to cover the early days. Rainbow, Hammersmith, Earl's Court or something like that. Compilations are shite. Like Live Magic |
