Man Utd, go red devils! |

Now that I have moved up North, does it mean I have to support United? |
Penetration_Guru 19.05.2005 17:57 |
Brenski's never made it out of Birmingham (the ring road's too complex for him), so he hasn't grasped the notion of migration. No, Bob, you support your team (ps, enjoy the JCL muppets that now attach themselves to your team). I won't hold them against you, but someone like Brenski clearly will. Now, embarrassing as the term "superfan" obviously is, let's not tar everyone with the same brush. Why does Brenski assume that everything Utd is awful - I don't assume every Birmingham City fan is an imbecile.... |
eggy 19.05.2005 18:51 |
I'm going to go with United, go thats put the shitter on it for them! If I saw it's not going to be a classic, then it might be a good match, so I'll go for 1-0 late goal from an unlikely source. Mysticly shite guess. |
Bob The Shrek 19.05.2005 19:15 |
I don't really care who wins because I am a Chelsea fan (Armchair fan 1st class) but my prediction is: 1-1 at full time. Arsenal to nick it in extra time. I just hope the Man U fans don't protest inside the stadium and spoil it for the players. They can tear the pitch up after the final whistle ;-) |
Taylor-Mayed 20.05.2005 07:46 |
I just hope it's an entertaining final for a change. |

MU. It's their last chance in this year |

Arsenal by 2... at halftime! ;-) |
Wreckage 20.05.2005 13:42 |
Arsenal are on better form at the moment. but with all of the grief that has been going on within the club this last week (Ljungberg's health scare, The Cole hearings, Henry's ongoing injury), I'm not sure that they will be well prepared mentally. Plus, form can easily go out of the window for a game like this. My prediction? A close match that will be settled in extra time. |
Mayboy 21.05.2005 09:13 |

well we can only go for it again next year. It could have easily gone the other way Caroll almost saved Viera's Penalty. |

a new keeper is a must. |
Penetration_Guru 21.05.2005 13:28 |
Scoring some goals would have rendered the point redundant. Presumably there's an excess of justice elsewhere in the world to balance this out. Or maybe it balances out Arsenal losing to Liverpool a couple of years back, although at least that involved Arsenal having a shot on target. |
Fraz 21.05.2005 13:36 |
yeah he would get on well at Utd he's a decent goalie ireland have great players such as damian duff and john oshea. |

Boring final, most boring in years, although i must be honest and say man u deserved to win. arsenal were shit without henry, one man team. It was just a game between 2 has been premiership teams. |
Penetration_Guru 22.05.2005 06:04 |
Given may well be better than Carroll, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement, is it? newcastle86 - is he the only one the "loyal" Toon "Army" haven't turned on in the last couple of weeks then? Even though he's started going to the papers whinging about not winning anything? Calling me a toss pot doesn't really obscure the fact that you have a team full... |

Hard luck to United (No Newcastle fans, your not United). Rooney was fantastic, Ronaldo (however much it hurts to say it) was also. Lehman had the best game I've seen him have for a while. Mr Van N did enough for me to think he might be playing for a Spanish club next season. United could do with the money too. United can take more out of that game for next season than Arsenal for sure. Lauren was made to look like a part-timer. The biggest cheer in the pub I saw it was the Euro 2004 reliving of Ronaldo crying though - priceless! |

Lehmann's not a bad goalie and Pires/Ljungburg/Fabregas/Edu/Bergkamp/Viera/Lauren are all great players IMO.how could you leave out Gilberto???? he's the reason they didnt win the premiership this season. I'm still not sure about Fabregas, he's too weak for games like yesterday. arsenals best XI: Lehmann,Lauren,Campbell,Toure,Cole,Ljungberg,Vieira,Gilberto,Pires,Henry,Bergkamp they do have the best 11 in the premiership, just not a strong enough squad. |
eggy 22.05.2005 08:28 |
I think the league title shows Chelsea has the best starting XI. They had their fair share of injuries too. With whichever forward and Tiago replacement Mourinho brings in will make that even more the case next seasoin. |
DudleyFufkin 22.05.2005 11:38 |
I thought Lehman was good at stopping shots, but didnt have a clue what he was doing when crosses came in. He almost conceeded 2or 3 goals by watching the ball come over and get nowhere near it. Pires and Reyes were shown up for being the crap players they are. Fair enough running rings around people like Norwich but when up against the decent teams they dont show up. And arsenal are a bunch of diving bastards. |
bohemian 11513 22.05.2005 11:43 |
The goalie made the difference!!! See you all in Germany 2006... :-)) |
Penetration_Guru 22.05.2005 16:18 |
Brenski, not sure where your mates think O'Shea should be playing, but "the reserves" would be my choice. If they're worried about people playing out of position, try Rooney on the wing, RvN as a lone striker, Wes Brown & Quinton Fortune at full back, Silvestre at centre back, Alan Smith in midfield, and David Bellion in a Utd shirt... Having said that, there is a feeling that Smith may make a pretty decent CM - better than Miller/Kleberson etc. It would be nice to see some changes, I just don't think that the changes we'll get will be a) the changes we'd like, or b) successful ones. |

For me United need a right back, a midfielder to give Keane some support, a striker and another winger. I'd get rid of Kleberson/Miller/Van N/Saha too. Fortune is a good squad player I think. Arsenal need about the same really. Could be worse and be Liverpool who are only 9 players short of a decent team. |

Because a played some bad matches the last months?? "Van The Man" has been injured for almost the whole season. You can't blame him for not making the difference. A fit Van Nistelrooy brings a guarantee of 30 goals a season. The weakness of "Man U" is their back players. You can't have two pure defenders as backs. If you want to be a real top club, you need backs who can built up an attack. And "Man U" need a better goalie. They could get Van de Sar for free, but there was no interest... Unbelievable. |

kerfuffle87 wrote: I thought Lehman (or however you spell it) was awesome for Arsenal. kept them in the game really.Well, he almost lost the game for Arsenal, when Van Nistelrooy hit the bar. He could have catched that pass easily, but went back in the goal. |
eggy 23.05.2005 07:10 |
The Miracle - no offense, but you are talking bollocks. Without even looking it up I'm guessing there is a German/Dutch rivalry going on here. Van The Man to me is some money that United could do with for a couple of players. I said exactly the same long before he lost United the cup final. We all have different views. I'm not United's biggest fan at all but I think they've changed their style for Rooney, and should keep it that way. |
Bob The Shrek 23.05.2005 07:11 |
Feel sorry for United, they should have walked it. Alex Ferguson put on a brave face for the post match interview but he must have been seething inside! Poor bastard. For me, the highlight of the day was something John Motson said. Ashley Cole was attacking down the left wing and put an inch perfect cross (sarcasm) waaaaay into the crowd behind the goal and Motty said "Well, you don't need a Premier League enquiry into what happen there" - classic. ps If anyone from the FA reads this board, get rid of the fucking penalties. |

You could say they have just been cheated out of a thriving football club! |
Penetration_Guru 23.05.2005 13:57 |
bigc seems to be implying that previously Utd have cheated other clubs out of cups. I'm sure he's just waiting for an invitation to list them... Anyway, next season we don't need a right back. Two Nevilles are more than adequate. -------------Howard------------ G Neville---Rio---Wes----Heinze Ronaldo--Smith--Fletcher--Giggs ----------RvN----Rooney-------- Is a pretty decent first 11. JoS, P Neville, Silvestre & Spector provide defensive cover Keane & Scholes plus JoS & P Nev can cover midfield, Saha, Solskjaer & Rossi can cover the wings and the forward positions. Add a reserve keeper and that's a decent 21 man squad. Selling Kleberson, Bellion & Miller should fund a keeper quite satisfactorily, leaving us with spare for the transfer window if necessary. |
