I personally think that "the day at the races tour " and "hot space tour" are the best tours Queen ever did. The first tour has a lot of old songs and the setlists were very variated. Thinks like milionair walz and white man sounded good. Hot Space is also great and variated. I think it's fantastic to see how the guys performed those disco songs in a "rock way". I also think the drumsound in both tours was great. Which tour is your favorite and why ???
- i love the sound form the notw tour - great setlist...also the later races tour (gothenburg, bristol, rotterdam, earls court, copenhagen, galsgow) all sounds great
Queen as a four piece, I'd say the ADAtR, NOTW, Jazz and The Game tours were all great. The Game tour had Roger's tympani solos which all rocked(I am a drummer). As for Queen with a backing musician, I'd say the UK and US legs of the Hot Space tour were great.
My best memories are of the Hot Space tour as this was the first time I saw Queen at a stadium.
The Works tour was my most memorable for being totally "mad" all through the concert although the Wembley Pavilion came close, even though I could see bugger all.
Well, as I first saw them on their European Spring Tour in May 78 in Berlin... I stick with the News of the World-Tour.
I still can remember the "Crown" (lightning rig) rising at the beginning of their show as if it was yesterday...
As Queen played Berlin for the first time ever the atmosphere was so intense and they perfectly delivered... what a great show and what a great setlist! Larger than life...
Visually The Works.
Sound wise Hot Space. The drum sound makes such a differance. Rogers drumming on the 2005 tour is better than on the Magic tour an The Works tour.
I like the Crazy (though I´ve to admit that I´ve only heard the Kampuchea concert so far) and the NOTW tours very much. The setlist were the best they ever played in my opinion and Freddies voice was in top shape. During the Hot Space tour they didn´t play enough old songs in my opinion, especially on the U.S. leg when they dropped STL and added even more HS songs.

Any idea how much bootlegs cost? John
in 1980-the game tour came to philadelphia and it still ranks as the best concert i have ever seen period.the sound was better then jazz tour because freedie sang in a much higher pitch.living in the states,we missed the magic tour sadly or that would have been my choice.the worst tour was the works tour..freddie looked like he was going through the motions and his voice seemed to fail him more often then not.
the News Of The World tour setlist is excellent, from the early US/Canada '77 shows to Europe '78 (New York 02/12/1977, Houston 11/12 & Copenhagen 13/04/1978 are 3 of my favourite shows ever).
The later Races shows are top notch too (Copenhagen 1977, Earls Court 1977).....
Well, my cousin Joe was their lighting director from the "Races" tour til the end of the Jazz tour in Japan of 79. I would have loved to see the NOTW tour simply because of the lighting rig itself. ButI saw them the following year for the Jazz tour and to me that was the best! My first concert ever. I saw them again on the Game tour but to me the Jazz tour was their best.

Agree with you, The Works Tour better Queen's setlist, great assembly, but for any reason flat interpretations, It bothers me the equalize of this tour, drums, the keyboards and the Red guitar where this?
Well, Freddies voice is really good 77/78. So that's probobly the best. The north american shows from 1978 is really great. so a listen is recommended. The setlists is also really great those years. But Freddies voice was really good from time to time up till the hotspace tour. Then it became worser. But in the beginning of the tours then it was really great. The south american tour 81 is really great too. The whole band is in such a great shape.
