I've got two interesting newsfacts for you guys: 1: Breakthru Trading sees the light. 2: Houston 77 Complete (155MB .wma files). So what is Breakthru trading? Find it out! We Will Rock You 11. We Are The Champions 12. Sheer Heart Attack 13. Jailhouse Rock 14. God Save The Queen Review: Wonderful soundboard recording from the legendary Houston concert in 1977. The overall soundquality is Excellent, which is really amazing! Some minor things are the slightly hiss in the background, some pops/scratches can be heard and a few little sound dropouts during the song We Will Rock You(Fast), but only on the beginning of the song. Ofcourse these minor things are not to worrie about as the sound is so great. It probably seems that the song Spread Your Wings is missing. I'm not really sure if they played it this night but if they did, then it is the only song that is missing. Otherwise complete concert. Freddie's voise is in very good shape, and it is said that this was one of their greatest concerts ever. Source: link THANK YOU GOES OUT TO: Dennis Alink and Thijs Arends for making the arrangements for Houston 77, Rick for providing it to us and Thijs for making/seeding the torrent. --- Artwork Included --- Keep seeding cus this is a wonderful concert! And all say: THANK YOU THE_HERO ! |

Don't you guys get it? WMA is just as lossy as MP3... But this is a soundboard recording, the other version is an audience recording. (According to the_hero) |

So leave it to Megamike to ask the only truly negative question yet.. during '39 there is a glitch during the first verse it goes, ".. when lands were few.. and the ship sa.. the Night followed day and the story tellers... " is that on the actual CD or was it a glitch during the ripping process..? and the track numbering is a little off at the end.. but I think I can fix it on my end.. lol (and no this has nothing to do with the beginning of the show) |

First of all, thank you very much for sharing this kick ass concert. For some reason I'm not able to seed this. After finishing the download I had to stop it for a second so I could rename the file. Upon restarting Azareus it began to download it again. It usually checks it and upon realizing the file is complete begins seeding. But this time it checks it (all the way up to 100%) but then starts to download it again. Anyway, I apologize because I'm not a leech but I will continue to try to seed it. |
djaef 19.05.2005 01:31 |
Thanks guys for releasing this. Excellent work. Congrats on the trading site - it looks good. But I think you might have went live just a little early. It loads really badly in Firefox with the same sort of problems the official Queen + paul Rodgers site originally had.... it looks terrible. Did you just test on IE? My apologies if it's something on my end. I think the site is designed really well. It looks great. I'll check it out some more and start trading :) Oh, as for Crawford's problem, isn't it that you can't rename the downloaded files from a torrent, or the torrent won't work any more? That's how I understood it. Rename it as it was, and it should work again. |
jcrawford79 19.05.2005 01:47 |
Thanks for the advice but still doesn't seem to work. Guess I'll just let it complete another download and then seed from that file....anyway, thanks again for a prompt response. |

There are two glitches/skips on this copy. In '39 and White Man. Reason for those skips is the fact that this audio is ripped from a badly encoded DVD. It was copied to DVD from VHS in EP mode and during that compression/copying work these skips occurred. This was also already lossy before the conversion to mp3/wma. It was in AC3. There is a lossless audio version of this without any cuts, except one before White Man but that's also on the original video tape. |

Okay for soemone who practically lives on his computer, what am I missing here that isn't allowing me to download the Houston 77 concert. I'm obviously missing something (BTW - I have downloaded Bittirrent) This Concert was sooo cool. I had just moved to Houston a month before and got to go. Not a bad concert for my only one to see them at. |

We are very appreciative of the opportunity to listen to this in a better format (when we have time to download this weekend). Have had the entire concert for a few years....but from three different sources, needing to place one next to the other to the other, with obvious sound quality differences at each change. Thank you joe, susan, happy Houston 77 hound+ |

Hi folks - Some tidbits of information that might be helpful for us who wouldn't normally use WMA files, nor might not be used to them etc., etc. Just thought I'd pass along my own experience having just burned the first disc of the Houston show. First off - it sounds AMAZING -- AND it's SEAMLESS provided you use the right software. I know there might be alternatives to the way I did things, but agian, this is simply for those who are using WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 9... For those of us with WMP9 - if you burn these tracks cold (i.e. without any sort of plugins), the program WILL produce a 2-second gap between tracks - that's NOT to say there is any sort of gap tacked on to each track, because there's NOT - it's simply that this program will not burn one track after the other without gaps. (I basically have answered a question that 'I' asked in a previous posting here... To solve this 2-second gap issue, I downloaded the Nero WindowsMedia Plugin - which gives the option to 'eliminate gaps between tracks'...which works beautifully to create the seamless concert!! Here's a link (1 of several, I'm sure that are out there...) link Secondly - I thought I'd give my 2-cents and MUCH deserved credits to those who took the time to put such a wonderful concert on Queenzone. Not to discredit the MP3 version, but in my view, if you're going to go 'so far' to download MP3's, why not go that little bit further to get the wma version of these tracks. Both formats sound great mind you and they both sound WICKED!! - but personally, I wanted to go for 'as close' to the original source as I could - and therefore I opted to wait just a little bit longer for the torrent to finish downloading. It was WELL WORTH the wait!!! While I did notice the odd 'pop' in the sound, and note that there is the strange 'skip' during '39, I am NOT about to complain about this concert...after all...it's an amazing show that is FREE for us fans. Why should we complain!! Anyway...that's my 2 cents. Thanks once again for those who put it up - in either format. Gonna burn disc 2 now. Cheerzzz Andrew |
David Jones 19.05.2005 13:57 |
Thanks for that Andrew! That will stop cutting the gaps out with CoolEdit! Does it work for mp3s too?... |
Fat Lizzy 19.05.2005 14:45 |
Thanks for your explanation Andrew, I just wanted to add something about the '39 thing... I just wanted to say that it was on the original source disc where we get this from, so I don't know if it's on other Houston bootlegs but we've got it this way. Thank you all for the kind responses and for downloading this concert! Grtz Jerome |
smileexpert 19.05.2005 15:03 |
I couldn't say for sure but it would seem 'logical' that WMP9 and the Nero FastBurn pluggin would also work with MP3 files - but don't quote me on that, I haven't tried myself. Just finished burning the 2nd disc - I've got an old burner so it took 1/2 hour (I can hear you all snickering...lol...but hey - at least it doesn't spit out coasters (bad discs). ) Cheerzzz Andrew |

Its by far the best 77 show i've ever heard !!! Listening to this I could'nt help but feel this so should have been an official release. I feel sad for the many millions of fans that won't get to hear this show because they don't use Queenzone or dont have access to computers. I think Jim Beaches excuse that this would never be released officially because of piano mic problems is bullshit !! This desrves to be heard by everyone. djaef 19.05.2005 18:36 |
Thanks again for this one guys! I downloaded both the mp3 version and the wma torrent, and while they sound almost identical (volume levels are a little different), I believe that the wma files are encoded at a higher rate (for some reason the mp3 files are showing 0kbps). wma files are not my choice of media either, but files encoded at 192kbps in wma files are much better quality than mp3 files encoded at the same rate. Either way, burn this to disc, and crank it up, and the discussion about formats is meaningless. It sound F&*KING AWESOME!!! I'm encoding the wma files into individual 320kpbs mp3s (just to have mp3s on the computer) so if anyone wants I could torrent the mp3s at some time. RVW's mp3s are there of course, but these would be split into individual files, and be slightly better quality. Not that it really makes a difference. The only thing better than either of these two awesome downloads woulf be the flac torrent :) Oh, that's right - we can't beg. Hmmm... what have I got to trade..... |

I've got a couple of questions....bear with me - lol. 1 - I may be completely out to lunch here... Has anyone noticed that Melancholy blues fades considerably at the end, and white man fades in? I'm wondering...would it make more sense to put Melancholy blues at the end of disc 1 versus the current layout of disc 1 and disc 2? Maybe this is the case - I'm not sure if '39 to 'Mel-Blues' would be 'as seamless' but for the sake of completing the 'acoustic set' and wher Mel-Blues does fade out (or appear to) - I'm wondering if anyone else has thought of this? Just an observation. 2 - Could someone provide a definitive list of where the 'source skips/cuts' and 'fadein/outs' occur on the original CD recording? (i.e. time the skip occurs during '39'; in 'WWRY(fast) etc...) 3 - Is the correct layout for this CD available? And might I suggest - if it is being scanned -that it be done at 300dpi - for best print quality? Cheerzzz and I'm totally loving this recording. I hope these questions will generate answers that will benefit all who have downloaded this show. A MUST for all fans. Andrew |
smileexpert 19.05.2005 20:31 |
Not saying it's a problem...but just wondered why the original source had Mel-Blues on disc 2. Will there be any difference in sound going from '39 to 'Mel-Blues' then? Thanks |
smileexpert 19.05.2005 20:34 |
Also - are the 2 audience tracks meant to go back to back? Just wanting to confirm. I call one the 'guitar' track, as I can hear someone unplugging their guitar, and the other the 'drum' track as there appears to be some related sound there. Thanks Andrew |

Great and sincere thanks to you, guys who allowed to access to this concert. I've been searching for good stuff from the NOTW tour since Apr 1978, when I first saw the video (from the Houston show) on French TV about the very 1st venue of Queen in Paris. I only knew the slow studio version of WWRY and was blown away when I discovered how the played it fast... I always thought it was (and still is) the best period of the band, musically and visually and maybe this is the reason why it was so difficult to find concert from this era. Just one thing : On the Houston video and others boots from this concert, the fast version of WWRY is shorter. Freddie just sings the chorus after the solo guitar and the break without the 3rd couplet of the song as it is on the studio version. In the present version, Freddie sings the whole song. So it seems there are two live versions of this song. How can we explain it ? |

Thank you for this stellar show! The sound really is excellent, and Freddie's voice is superb! Love of My Life sounds incredible! My question is, is this the correct running order at the end of the show? WWRY/WATC before SHA? I'm just curious. Please let me know. Thanks! |

Thanks for confirming this! Great Job all around! |

Great show, thanks. Quick question - any one know of any freeware or anything through which I can split the tracks? Unless I'm missing something, I have six tracks, with 4 or 5 songs together, and I want to split them into separate tracks. |

Use Audacity (Freeware). |

I'm not satisfied that there's a big jump in '39, especially because I've burned it all to a CD! Waste of a CD, that is. I'm waiting for the new version to be uploaded as well. |

PTRACER 21.05.2005 10:26 |
FLAC's fucking shit. MP3s are much better. 320kbps MP3s can give exactly the same quality as the original CD at a tenth of the filesize. And I don't believe in trading. I give everything out to people for free, rather than hoarding it like some kind of selfish bastard. |

Just so you guys remember there are loads of others out there who are not at all ungrateful. Big deal with '39. I've burned it to cd, and I'd do it again in a second without complaining if a better version came up. I think this concert rocks, and I for one am extremely grateful for the Breakthru crew for sharing this with the world. PTRACER, you're normally a lot more friendly than this. Did you get out of the wrong side of the bed or something? Lighten up man. You did come across as ungrateful and demanding. |

This is one of the best concerts I have ever heard from Queen, it is a real pity that they do not release this officialy because it compares pretty favorbly IMHO to Live At Leeds. Just because a couple seconds of one song are missed does not kill the experiance for me at all. This concert is awesome and I am just glad someone decided to share it with us. I hope some other rare shows are shared in the future, but bitching about this release may make some think twice. Lets just sit back and listen to Queen, because isn't that the point? |
Fat Lizzy 22.05.2005 10:13 |

the trouth about 39 from houston is that it was original a medley.they fixed syw into it so that it was 39(begin)>syw>39(end).it was cut out from the recording because you could hear john deacon fart when he lost his nerves at the 4 min bass-solo. |
wesi72 23.05.2005 17:30 |
Thanks a lot for this, it sounds super. Interesting to hear We Will Rock You developing along with other songs from News of the World. The only thing I'd heard of this show before now was My Melancholy Blues when it was a B side (of The Miracle I think)and on Rare Live, and I'd always hoped the show would be released. |

This made me smile (from the Breakthru website) "We do not cheat on traders: We haven't got any MP3 sourced bootlegs. If you find us sending you a MP3 sourced bootleg then you can contact us and negotiate about a possible other trade. If you cheat on us, you'll be reported as a bad trader" So if you send someone mp3 sourced material - its ok because you'll replace it BUT if someone sends you mp3 material they'll be stignatised as "bad traders" why the hypocrisy? |

The quality is fantastic and is one of my choices for any future official release on DVD/CD along with Earls Court 06.06.77 (Lucille on this is brilliant..the best rendition yet IMHO, even if it's not complete). Are you talking about New York or Houston? Houston is from my mini- webpages and should upload in an hour if past histroy is correct. New York is doing well now, as I am uploading at 22 kb/sec now. For some reason my torrents always start out very slow (I am downloading the concert too for some reason and am at 73% with 3 hours to go). |
Dima Remark 28.06.2005 11:29 |
Thanks, Rip. I meant lovely Houston. I've checked your home.comcast.net-links yesterday, they are working, still! But I'm at 77,1% of this Gerolamo bittorrent, I don't wanna stop at more than a half-way. A miracle had happened - now I'm downloading at 10-17 KB/s. And somebody's uploading from me at 10 KB/s. Tell me, "UPLOAD" means "I SHARE THE TORRENT"? That's coll if it is. I thought I can share only when I'm at 100%! :-) |

LOLOL....wonderful soundboard maybe....WMA format ....not anymore. Can you people not hear the squelch from these & Mp3's behind the music. Now someone will create more loss by re-converting to a CD playable. THEN......later they will rip to a Mp3 again & up somewhere......more loss & squelch. Then you all say.....anyone got a good copy. Fuckin idiots AHHH!!!.....forget it,you wouldn't understand until your at least 14. But they all sound like YV's video encoding.....crap. No wonder Brian doesnt mind about queen bootz......he knows it wont be long before you fuck em all up & they aint worth shit. |
